The Beatles: Adventures In Pepperland is a Super Mario Bros. 2 game mod by NESDraug and Shauing. Based on the 1968 movie Yellow Submarine.

The plot of the game mirrors that of the movie. The protectors of Pepperland, the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band were captured by the Blue Meanies, who plan to steal all the color and music from the world. Admiral Fred enlists the Beatles to be the new protectors and save Pepperland. Play as George, Paul, Ringo or John, each band member with their own unique abilities!

The game makes numerous changes to the original game. The gameplay is mostly the same, but not only is the level designs and characters and enemies changed, but this hack also made extensive changes to the soundtrack, all of it being chiptune covers of popular Beatles' songs. Now you can uproot guitars and other objects and bash enemies to an exciting and catchy soundtrack.

This game contains examples of:

  • Adapted Out: The Bonus Chance minigame of the original game is removed.
  • Anti-Frustration Feature: The player is given the option to choose a new character when losing a life, unlike the original game (though not for its remakes).
  • Big Bad: Like in the movie, The Chief Blue Meanie. He's naturally the Final Boss, replacing Wart.
  • Bully Bulldog: Bulldogs, serving as a substitute for Shyguy, attack the player in the first stage.
  • Competitive Balance: Much like the game it's based on, Each of the Beatles have their own unique abilities that play a role in how the game is played. What's interesting however is that they are not one-for-one clones of their original versions however.
    • George (Mario): The Jack of All Stats band member with all around ability. Unlike Mario however, George has a little more airtime when he jumps.
    • Paul (Luigi): Paul has a mighty jump, but his jump height is shortened when he performs a running jump, not getting as vertical as when he jumps normally.
    • Ringo (Toad): Ringo is the powerhouse and runs extremely fast, but he has no jumping ability whatsoever.
    • John (Peach): John is the slowest runner but can float in midair for a few seconds.
  • Continuing is Painful: This game has the same penalty as the original for losing all your lives, sending you back to the beginning level of the world. You are given more continues (Nine compared to two) and lives (5 compared to 2) per continue, however.
  • Gimmick Level: Level 2-1 (Nowhere Land) has no normal exit. In order to proceed, the player has to find the Warp Zone which takes them to World 3.
  • Hearts Are Health: The player has hearts as a Life Meter rather than the hexagons of the original game (though not the remakes). Small hearts restore them.
  • Lemming Cops: Liverpool police officers appear in the first level. They move slowly and really don't do much to bother the player and can only hurt the player by colliding with them.
  • Liverpool: The first stage before the gang travels to Pepperland. They have to dodge policemen, and loose bulldogs who serve as enemies within the stage.
  • Musical Nod: Several Beatles songs were converted to chiptune instruments for this games' soundtrack.
    • The Title Screen is "With a Little Help From My Friends".
    • The Character Select theme is "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with a sped-up reprisal used for Invincibility.
    • "Eleanor Rigby" plays in Liverpool, the game's first level.
    • The overworld theme in Pepperland is "Yellow Submarine".
    • "Nowhere Man" plays in some of the Overworld levels, as well as Subspace.
    • The 1-Up jingle is replaced by the repeated lines from the end of "Love is All You Need".
    • "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" serves as a third overworld theme.
    • "Hey Bulldog" is the theme for Boss Battles.
  • Warp Zone: These exist in the game, and in some levels are actually required to complete the stage.
