That they're facing the same direction could just be a consequence of that particular shot from that scene...not particularly impressed by the suggestions so I'm voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Agree that the existing image is better than the proposed ones.
Current is fine.
Keep current. It's clearer than either of the suggestions, and I like how the opponents they're surrounded with are visible in the background.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Spiral out, keep going.Keep.
(Annoyed grunt)From the Legend Of Zelda cartoon:
Oh god that is about as blurry as you can get.
Well, here's the scene in question such that anyone who's better than me at anticipating which frames will be less blurry could tell which one might make a better screenshot.
EDIT: Alternatively, if you don't need to show onscreen enemies in both directions:

Keep current.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Hmm... yeah, I suppose that screenshot wasn't too impressive either.
For now, how's this? Sure, it's a parodical example, but at least the characters are actually back to back.

I'd appreciate it if people at least gave their reasons why they consider the current better than each of the suggestions, though. That last one featured on-screen enemies, and characters who were actually back to back. Their weapons should've left no doubt that it was a fight scene. Is the problem that it's from a parody of fantasy game cliches, and/or that the relevant aspects take up so few of the pixels? If so, here's one more alternative.
That said, if that doesn't cut it, then I'm not sure what else to suggest and am prepared to let this one go. note
Another suggestion. Jigen and Goemon from The Castleof Cagliostro [1]◊
The trope is "two or more people are surrounded and outnumbered by enemies and stand back-to-back to defend themselves". None of the suggestions so far show all of the aspects of the trope. The current picture does. Keep.

Spiral out, keep going.They're not back-to-back, they're roughly side-to-side.
At least some of the suggestion seem to be hampered by the Social Semi-Circle problem, and others just don't look like it at all.
The Zelda ones are just too blurry, but otherwise appropriate.
12 does seem to fit, probably better than the current, but it doesn't really show any badassery. It's supposed to be a position of power and Conservation of Ninjutsu.
Check out my fanfiction!Either keep the current or switch to the one in 12.
My reasons? Most of the suggestions are either blurry, cluttered, or even less "back-to-back" and more "side by side".
And I think that the nitpick about the current, that they're not quite perfectly back-to-back and that they're both looking in the same direction is just that, a nitpick.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Current > 12, I know it's a parody but civilians wielding swords doesn't scream badass as much as the martial artists in the current do.
I wouldn't mind switching to , though. Here it is at wiki size.

Still prefer the current. The Jedi look alone not surrounded.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton! There's nothing wrong with the current. Unless someone suggests something pretty damn good, I vote no change.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. There are lots of robots in the background, although they're a bit hard to notice.
Back to back? More like side by side. They're looking in the same general direction, and even their backs seem diagonal to each other rather than in the outright opposite direction... which would be fine if the "third badass" referred to in the caption was clearly visible in the screenshot to cover the remaining angle. But he's not.
From Daiginjou:
From Streets Of Rage:
(Yeah, one's a gameplay example and another's an intro screen; and the latter leaves behind its own gap in angles covered; I don't feel compelled to watch a 2-player playthrough of that tonight, but I might for a better image tomorrow. For now, I'll just post those two to get the ball rolling.)
