Yeah, there's not enough of the lily pads or whatever in the current to make it clear. The suggestion is an improvement, but an in-game shot showing the water crossing in action would be better.
While I generally prefer using Work examples to Real Life examples I have always loved the Victoria Amazonica lily

All lateral changes for me. Current works fine with the huge lilies building a pathway across the water. The image could use a little retouch on the contrast though.

Maybe it's the art style, but I prefer either of the Okami pics over the current.
