CARTOON PONIES

EXISTENTIAL ANDROIDS
FIGHT
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.
They are also reboots of 80's properties.
Technically, 2049 is a sequel to the original Blade Runner movie.
But whatever.
Well, another bright side to this is that this is going to be a mainstream 2D movie that is getting a theatrical release.
Well, I guess you raise a good point there.
Then again, I want to say that MLP: TM could be what reignites interest to theatrical 2D animated movies from America, but I guess some of AdricDePsycho's skepticism might have rubbed off on me ever since I suggested the idea of it a few months back on a different thread. And being set to compete against Blade Runner 2049 of all movies doesn't exactly quell said skepticism, now does it?
But hey, stranger things have happened, right? If MLP somehow performs better than expected and 2049 underperforms to some degree, I'll be more than happy to eat humble pie.

Even if it doesn't perform as well, it can always become a beloved Cult Classic by young girls (and boys) of this generation. The funny thing is that it's been 31 years since My Little Pony had a theatrical release.
Does Blade Runner have a substantive enough fanbase to really threaten MLP at the box office? I'm confused by this concern, especially since they're targeted at very different markets.
It's not like it's up against, I don't know, Frozen 2 or something.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.That is funny (how it's been 31 years after the last MLP movie).
Man, it's kind of poetic that Bob Chipman did a video on how another certain animated Hasbro movie lasted as long as it did.
Now you can say whatever you want about TF or even Bob, but the point still stands: for better or for worse, The Transformers: The Movie had a huge impact. Underneath that cynical message of "hey, your favorite good guys and bad guys are dead! Go and buy these new guys!", there actually is a deeper, underlying message of "hey, not everything lasts forever. At some point, your hero will cease to be and you'll need to take command to fight off an even bigger problem. But you know what? If you get through this and live to tell the tale, you'll be stronger and better than you were when you were under the tutelage of your hero. Change isn't just inevitable, it should be welcomed."
Now, before you call me out on going on a tangent, here's my point:
TF: TM may have been a dud, but it's still remembered to this day because of that deeper message. It'd be really awesome if MLP: TM got that same lasting effect on people minus the stuff that made people diss TF: TM, like the convoluted story and so on.
EDIT: ...Well, the original Blade Runner is regarded as one of the best Sci-Fi movies of all time, but I think when it came out initially, a lot of critics and audiences thought nothing of it.
Then again, it might be possible that this will be like when The Care Bears Movie outperformed The Black Cauldron...
Mind you, I'm not saying that that is what's going to happen, but still! Stranger things have happened.

The first MLP movie changed the status quo too! I wonder if this one will.
The Protomen enhanced my life.True, it did bring two main changes that established both the main characters and location of the TV series. The first change, for those who don't know, involved the ponies' original castle being rendered uninhabitable and then Paradise Estate was created for them, which is where they lived in the main TV series. A G4 equivalent of this would be when Tirek destroyed the Golden Oaks Library and Twilight's castle was created out of the box that came from the Tree of Harmony.
Also, the movie established the main set of ponies who would be the stars of the TV series, with only a few ponies from the Catrina special (the second one) being retained and many more being added, based off of the new toylines that were created around the time of the movie (the So-Soft Ponies and Twinkle Eyed Ponies, mostly). Of the characters from either of the two specials, only Megan (with an altered appearance), Spike, Posey, and Lickety-Split were retained, and also Sundance who was included in a crowd scenes as a background pony with no speaking lines.

Based on the precedent set by Equestria Girls, I wouldn't expect anything from the movie to ever be acknowledged in the show.
Maybe a cute Continuity Nod here or there like Flash Sentry's occasional cameo but nothing like, say, Tempest joining the main cast or Rainbow Dash retiring or something.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.There's also a good reason as to why the movie will likely still be super-successful, considering that they're catering to different audiences.
Mostly.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I know that at least one seapony is supposed to show up in Season 8, so that's going to carry over at least.
New trailer focusing on Tempest Shadow.
Tempest continues to impress with every appearance. I'm really looking forward to seeing her in the movie.
I know it makes sense given the voice actor, but I was genuinely surprised at how deep Capper's voice was.
And marshmallow drama horse was just adorable <3
- They fully credit the Mane 6's voices now, and Spike's. Good step!
- I expect all of the 7 principle characters to get their time in the spotlight, and it seems with this trailer they will!
- Taya Digg's character is the Token Black Guy. ...not too sure I'm for that.
I just want Discord to show up somewhere
New theme music also a boxDiscord hasn't even shown up in the EQ movie series, as far as I know.
No, he hasn't. I'm not expecting him to, either. Being a force of pure Equestrian magic, it would be really hard to fit a counterpart of him into the human world without feeling like it's being done wrong in some way.
Either you make him still a chaos avatar in which case he does not sufficiently qualify as an EQG counterpart or you make him powerlessly human in which case he does not sufficiently qualify as Discord. Discord is just too inherently magical of a concept to really fit into EQG.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Ooo! Ooo! Maybe Discord will be that surprise in the post-credits scene and he'll be all "why didn't I get a part in this movie deal!??", and he'd be all better-animated!!
I dunno. The 2 princesses are goddesses with the power to literally control the sun and moon, and yet in EQ they were reduced to mortal school faculty members. They even wrote in Starlight!! -_-

Lionsgate showed a sneak peek (in the form of a trailer with new and expanded scenes) during the season finale of America's Got Talent, a NBC show known for high TV ratings.

OK, I've heard some of the songs from the OST, and I think these may be (and maybe this shouldn't be surprising), some of the best songs in this entire generation of MLP. Those instruments tho
Haven't heard them all. Saving a few to prevent spoilers.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI heard Sia's single.
... this is some good stuff!
(Realizes that it's releasing the same day as Blade Runner 2049.)
Houston, we may have a problem... o__o
