Episode 12:
- New stuff: Tohur doing general chores (and testing food), actually looking for ingredients rather than just checking a list and budget
- Chapters adapted: 12 (Omelette Rice), 32 (Encounter II), 28 (Past)
- I liked the sword pulling in the manga better, since Kobayashi did it by the handle.
The sword was lodged deeper in Mange-ver? And smaller?
Because there's nothing really wrong with how she done did it here.
Open palmed instead of grasping...the blade.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Awww, so it was a 13-episode series all along. Here's to hoping the next season doesn't take too long before it's released.
Anyway, highlights that 's summary missed:
- Shouta realizes that he no longer wants Lucoa gone from his life. Can't admit it to her, though.
- Fafnir not only instantly becoming aware of the rain falling as soon as it starts (dragonic Super-Senses are nice), but taking time out of his obsessive gaming to quickly bring in the hanged-out clothes and put out a towel for the surely-drenched Takiya to use once he comes back is yet more evidence of his strengthening bond with his human roommate.
- Kanna's immediate "No!" to Tohru over sitting next to Kobayashi in front of the TV is so cute!
- Next episode: Tohru's Daddy is coming to town!
Really cute episode, showing Tooru and Kobayashi meeting as well as that time in Toorus past when she first realized that she's not totally satisfied with her life.
Also I liked the short segments showing how the other dragons are getting along and adjusted to life in human world. Lucoa and Shouta were especially cute.
On another note, the new chapter of the manga was pretty good. posing a question of why do humans sleep so damn much.
... THERE'S A NEW MANGA CHAPTER?!
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I also appreciate the fact that Lucoa finally clued into the fact that her fanservice was a bit much.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Well... Okay, in the context of the anime, yeah, but in the context of the manga, that was actually Lucoa's second appearance in the series.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! Her chest is ridiculous...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Not that it helped much.
Reaction Image RepositoryFigures they'd end it on Tohru's father, but I think we all called it.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Finally got a chance to finish the episode. Cute stuff, and fun to see some of Tohru's backstory. I kinda want another scene of Tohru and Kobayashi getting drunk, because that was hilarious.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, this better get a second season. At least the first is 13 episodes!
The story about the bandit who became a maid just like she wanted was very heartwarming, but the rice omelettes were very heartburning.
I wonder who will 'completely seduce someone out of their league while drunk and totally forget about it later' in the spring anime season?

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.It would be amusing if somebody got smashed and came on to Lucoa, if only because it would be an inversion of how she usually acts around everyone else (and a potential reference to her backstory).
Reaction Image RepositoryI knew Tohru and Kobayashi's first meeting would be awesome, but I didn't quite expect Kobayashi pulling out a divine sword that got stuck in Tohru's body from her war with gods. Then they get drunk and Hilarity Ensues.
Kanna's instant "No!" was really cute and funny. There's still too little of Elma. Fafnir is becoming a bigger bro.
I wonder if that human Tohru met in her old world will become more important later on.
And here comes a rampaging dragon just in time for the finale.
Yeah, so far I feel like Elma has been kind of a wasted character. I like her, but outside of her introductory episode she really hasn't had any substantial interactions with the actual cast. Other characters have similar issues (like Lucua and Shouta generally just tagging along for vague reasons), but at least they're there.
Reaction Image RepositoryIt is sort of a problem due of when characters were introduced in the manga. Elma was introduced in chapter 24, which in terms of currently translated chapters, is like past the midway point of chapters. Plus in the manga itself, she really interacts with Kobayashi the most. I don't think you even see her with about half of the cast until chapter 40.
Now of course you can make the argument that adaptations can change things (heck, Shouta was introduced after Elma, and look how much screentime he has had), but because Elma and Tohru are enemies, it is harder to keep them in the same room.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! What I can immediately get from this episode are as follows:
- Kobayashi is such a gamer that she interprets her rendezvous with Tohru as if it was a RPG.
- For some reason, KyoAni made a typo on Haruka Chisuga's name in the credits. Her surname is 千菅, not 千管—the implication is the person typing it is probably not Japanese.
Also, I looked up some clips of the English Dub, and eugh. I don't know exactly why, but I really don't like the dub for this series. I'm usually open-minded towards English dubs, and Funimation has done great dubs before such as Yu Yu Hakusho or Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, but this one just doesn't feel right.
I watched the first episode of the dub; it wasn't bad, but didn't quite click — but that's fairly common for me when I've been watching something subbed and switch to dubbed (or vice versa).
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The dub is decent. On the one hand, Kanna doesn't sound as cute and I'm still not sure about Lucoa. On the other hand, Nerd Mode Takiya doesn't make me wanna rip my ears offnote , so it kinda balances out. Everyone else is fine, but man, is Tohru's lisp ever strong.
I think it's just because you're more used to the sub (or dub in vice versa cases).

It was the final episode long before you had a chance to tell, mang...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Last episode, let's roll:
- As for new stuff: Honestly, outside of Kobayashi talking about coffee and some stuff Tohru talks with her inner self (which was just inner monologue), basically the first half is sort of the anime's take on one of chapters. Second half sort of goes with more precision albeit with some changes with the talk between Tohru and her father. While Tohru's father decides to leave when Tohru is clearly getting sick of his shit in the manga, they have an outright battle here (in fact, he was much clearly taken back by Kobayashi's words in the manga). And as such, stuff after the battle is sort of added in.
- Chapters adapted: 19 (This town, albeit rather loosely), 20 (Father)
- I admit, they did remove rather strong part between Tohru and her father where he bluntly states that dragons do not belong in this world.

Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Holy cow, they dramatized the shit out of this episode, so they can use it as the final story of the anime. It works well I think, and serves as the culmination for all the stuff that has been going on in the background for the entire season. A strong emotional conclusion for the series.
