I think the only way to 100% properly illustrate this would be to have a lampshade. That said, I don't think the current is actively harming the page so I'm voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Actually, there already was another thread
five years ago claiming this is JAFAAC, but the image wasn't pulled. That said, the current is not ideal but it's close enough since Mario is ultrafamous. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
By the way, I agree that the only way to improve this would be a lampshade. A work referencing another work's famous character. Nothing comes to mind, unfortunately... Because I don't know how the current page quote would translate into a pic. Our goal would rather be a character saying "Your name is X? You remind me of X from Y work!".

The current image really relies on the caption. But the thing is, I can't think of anything that would really illustrate this trope. I know this term gets thrown around a lot, but I would vote for BUPKIS on this page.
I haven't played the particular game that Tango is from, but still... robo kitty. :D
