I wasn't sure if this is an example of Misused or Unclear Description so I went with Misused.

I've been noticing a rise in the usage of Hilarious in Hindsight for things that have no actual connection at all, usually with things that are popular such as Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale. The issue is that people seem to think that anytime an animatronic, a talking flower, or a game that has a system where a character ends up Fighting Your Friend is somehow a good link of the trope. For example:

Final Fantasy IV

  • Fusoya's name (especially when spelled as FuSoYa as it was originally) sounds an awful lot like a particular incantation in another RPG...
  • The Bonus Boss of Undertale makes a remark wondering why bosses don't use their strongest attack first. Dark Bahamut does in fact open with Mega Flare, making him look savvy in retrospect.

I'm not seeing the relation here, there isn't anything connecting them and the Laconic for Hilarious in Hindsight reads: "Something is made funny or more funny thanks to later events." I take this to mean that it has to relate to the work in a way that makes sense.

Muramasa got.

~keyblade333: Pardon, but for a trope this large we need evidence of misuse that is not anecdotal - see Wick Check.
