I've put together something which should help keep everything a bit more tidy. Currently, we don't really have a system when it comes to certain Namespaces pages attached to specific TV series Works. As a result, they tend to get very chaotic and cluttered; namely:

  • Awesome/Work
  • Funny/Work
  • Heartwarming/Work
  • TearJerker/Work

I propose the following:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: Season 1]]
!!!Episode 1
* Example
!!!Episode 2
!!!Episode 3
!!!Episode 4
!!!Episode 5
!!!Episode 6
!!!Episode 7
!!!Episode 8
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Season 2]]
!!!Episode 1
!!!Episode 2
!!!Episode 3
!!!Episode 4
!!!Episode 5
!!!Episode 6
!!!Episode 7
!!!Episode 8
[[/folder]]

That blank slate can be copied and edited as needed.

That is only necessary for Recap pages. It's not proper for anything else. We don't list main page tropes that way, and so why should we do it for standard subpages?

Those aren't Recap pages, they're Gushing pages. I personally tend to avoid them because the poor indentation and natter make it too difficult for me to parse what the examples are supposed to be.

Well, if someone wants to sort Gushing subpages by episode/season, I have no objection, although it's not something we could possibly enforce.

Precisely why I'm suggesting this. It will help remove clutter on pages that are drowning in it.

It's an interesting idea. I noticed too that those namespaces have completely unorganized examples. It's not like Main/, which has the media sorting, or Work/, which can be folderized alphabetically. Dividing the namespaces mentioned in the OP by episode and/or season is better than having them in a random order.

What about frequently recurring things? Or, worse yet, not-so-frequently recurring things? A minor character with a dozen appearances over the course of a hundred-plus episode series?

The subpages in question require the listing of specific moments. Whether they are organized by character or by timeline is not as important as how easy it is to find them. Ctrl-F is a thing; the point is that the organization makes sense.

Ah. I never visit such pages, except to fix wicks, so my understanding of them is limited. Still, what if the moment is in the opening sequence (repeated every show)? What if it's a moment that the creators recognized as a fan favorite, and repeated in several episodes?

(I honestly don't know if such things are allowed, since I never add "moment" examples, but if they're not allowed, I think we have some cleanup to do.)

I find that it makes more sense to organise them after a timeline. They're examples of a single trope and they're all from the same work, so those two standard sorting methods don't apply.

I order them the same way if I write up several examples from a franchise or work on any trope page under the same main bullet, which often happens when I fix indentation errors. It's just cleaner to have them in some sort of logical order rather than randomly.

Ordering by character still means you've got to decide which order you sort the characters in. Alphabetical, mains first, or what? So that makes less sense to me. Still better than no order, though.

If a moment that qualifies for one of those gushing tropes happens in the opening, then I'd see reason to put !!!Opening Sequence in front of !!!Episode 1. Repetition of a fan favourite would be a Call-Back or a Flash Back when it happens, not the original moment.

Right now, we've got things that happen once repeated several times on some pages, because no-one can find that it was already posted.
