Dialogue for this game will be fun to write.

Tusken: raaaargh, honk honk honk, graaaargh.
Hutt: Unga, wunga. Ho, ho ho, ho ho!

(Optional: Human: the fuck did you say about my mother?!)

Okay, so someone PM'ed me about wanting to join the game. With that, plus Sabre and Skiller's characters, we're waiting on three signups. Once those are done, I'll officially start the game thread. This doesn't mean that new characters won't be accepted but the game will have started by then.

Okay. So, two things have happened.

A), I have reluctantly decided that there are just too many parts for the Hutt character that aren't clicking. Given enough time I might yet figure them out, but by that time it'd be too late. So, sadly, that character concept is going on ice.

And:

B). I saw Rogue One today.

Which gave an instant idea for a character...and although I don't see any players here who would remember her, it's the perfect chance to revive an old character from another game, suitably updated for setting.

Rogue One spoilers in character bio, marked where possible.

  • Name: Amelia Kallarn.
  • Physical description/species/age/etc. Human female, 31 years of age, quite short, blonde hair cropped to shoulder length. Gray eyes.
  • Equipment: automatic coilgun carbine firing solid slugs (on the lines of the Verpine shatterguns, but less delicate), optionally silent; bullet mold and micro-forge to replenish ammo from scrap metal, comms, equipment belt, modified surplus Clone Trooper armor (yes, she is a little short for a storm trooper), extensive toolkit. Other equipment as mission dictates.
  • Background:

Not every Imperial Army formation is a Stormtrooper legion. Some Imperial formations—mostly second-line or specialist units—were former planetary defense forces from the Republic that were brought into the Imperial Army at the close of the Clone Wars, and while some of them were little more than militia, others were hardened veterans, with their own unit lineages and a fierce esprit de corps. Usually equipped with older weaponry and armor, neglected by the Empire in favor of the Stormtroopers, the best among them could nevertheless match Stormtrooper formations in combat effectiveness, making up for their outdated equipment and smaller numbers through tactical flexibility and experience.

Which brings us to the former 92nd Independent Brigade, homeworld Odravia, and a certain former officer in it...

Born on Odravia, then-Captain Kallarn was a bright, rising staff officer in the 92nd when it was rotated off the front line against various pirate forces, having proven its mettle, and reassigned for a period of replenishing and retraining on Scarif. As a secondary purpose, the somewhat-understrength 92nd was to take the place of a Stormtrooper unit departing for the Front, and to take up its duty of reinforcing the Scarif Base garrison half a continent away should it ever be needed. Given the already-high security around the base and the planetary shield overhead, this was deemed fairly unlikely. No sense wasting perfectly good Stormtroopers on boring guard duty when they could be fighting at the front line, especially when there was this category-B formation just waiting to take their place, right?

Well, the unlikely happened, when Rogue One raided the base, and the 92nd was among the units called to respond. The brigade's commander and first battalion, the fast speeder troops, responded in time to join the ground battle just as it was wrapping up; Captain Kallarn and the rest of the battle group—the heavier, slower armored fist—were still a few hours out when Tarkin ordered the Death Star to destroy the base, without attempting to evacuate or even warn the Imperial troops engaged in mopping up.

(Yes, that actually happened in the film, to my shock, which didn't last long—Tarkin would be that kind of asshole, and it'd be depressingly in-character for him. Yes, that order was what inspired this character.)

In the aftermath of the superlaser attack, Captain Kallarn reorganized the survivors; luckily most of her armored troops survived, saved by their vehicles' heavy shielding, their distance from ground zero, fortuitous terrain, and the Captain's quick reaction. What remained of a spirited and loyal fighting formation turned mutinous virtually overnight. That callous friendly fire incident, coupled with the dissolution of the Senate, the destruction of Alderaan, and the Rebels' shock victory at Yavin 4, pushed the 92nd Brigade over the edge. A well-planned mutiny while they were onboard a cargo transport enabled the veteran troops to seize the transport, defect to the Rebellion, and there be split up into various smaller cadres, forming the experienced cores of new fighting units.

Following the defection, Amelia herself was picked for commando duty, which was how she came to Trouble Squad.

  • Abilities:
    • Mechanic officer. As a former officer of armored troops, Amelia is quite capable of fixing up what's broken, persuading what doesn't run to function, finding parts in all kinds of unexpected places, and in short be a handy one with a hydrospanner and welding torch.
    • Armored vehicle crew. Heavy repulsorcraft, walkers, wheeled vehicles, tracks—you name it, she can crew it.
    • Small-unit leader. Amelia is fairly experienced in training, directing, and coordinating massed fighting forces on a small to moderate scale; that said, there's a difference between commanding a company of walkers, versus participating in a special-forces raid.
  • Personality: though she's naturally cheerful, the Empire's betrayal of her close-knit fighting unit and the separation from them post-mutiny cut deep. Amelia's in the middle of trying to reconcile her desire for order and tradition, against her joining of the Rebellion.

Ere we go.

  • Name: Tssessh Jaka
  • Appearance: Quite tall, with green colored scales and orange colored eyes. Has a few scars in his face. Usual casual outfit and his light armor
  • Species, Age, and Gender: Trandoshan, 27, Male
  • Equipment:
    • ACP Repeater Gun: The Accelerated Charged Particle Repeater Gun, commonly known as the ACP repeater gun, was a medium-range blaster manufactured by Arakyd Industries. It was popular amongst the Trandoshan mercenary group. It holds 40 rounds.
    • ACP Array/Scatter Gun: The ACP Array gun was more suited for close quarters combat where extreme blast force was needed. Like all ACP weapons, the Array Gun was more effective against organic targets than droids. The gun could hold up to eight cartridges at a time in its magazine, and required manual cocking to move the next round into the chamber.
    • Trandoshan Body Armor: When going into combat or to a hunt, Tssessh wears armor used by many Trandoshan Mercenaries. The helmet that comes with it also is installed with thermal and night vision. Though the armor is not that protective, it makes up for it in that it doesn't weight the user that much.
    • Electrobinoculars
  • Abilities/Skills:
    • Trandoshan Strenght: While the physical strenght of a Trandoshan is no match for their furry rivals, the Wookiees, they still are pretty damn strong. That, and their claws hurts too.
    • Hunting: Thanks to the culture of Trandoshans, Tssessh is quite used to living in hostile conditions, a survivalist and hunting hostile wildlife...or hunting people.
    • Blaster Skills: While his aim with blasters is quite decent, he much prefers using his ACP Array Gun and charging in to close combat to rip his targets apart...or use his own claws to rip them apart. Saves him the hassle of aiming.
  • Personality: Reserved and professional..somewhat. Tssessh worships the Scorekeeper like many Trandoshans and wishes to gain as many Jagannath points as possible to please her accordingly, and believes that fighting against the extremely powerful opponent that is the Empire would be the best opportunity for such, and would honor her. Insulting his goddess right in front of his face is not recommended. Though there are times where he is not above it all and can often joke or snark around. He can be extremely bloodthirsty and often prefers charging in to battle, though he can recognize that the subtle approach would be much better. He is also rather nervous when near Wookiees, as relationships between the two species haven't been...smooth to say the least.
  • Backstory: Born on Trandosha, Tssessh life was spent to make him a warrior like many other Trandoshans. Blasters, hunting, you know the drill. After becoming 15 years old, Tssessh left Trandosha and went off to the galaxy to become a Bounty hunter, taking jobs to hunt prey, whenever walking on four or two legs. He also worked as a Mercenary too.

    • While he got some fortune from his hunting and merc work, and worked hard to please the Scorekeeper, he felt like the prey he was hunting was just not enough, not strong enough, not worthy at all for him. Eventually he realized, why hunt worthless wildlife and scum, when you could hunt the strongest being who held a grip in the entire galaxy, the Galactic Empire? They were all much more stronger, much more powerful, and they were worth far more jagannath points. With the notice of Trouble Squad by the Rebel Alliance, and the mention of extremely dangerous missions, Tssessh more than gladly went to join it.

  • Name – Taleed Ekwash
  • Appearance – Short black hair. He's fairly tall, around 5'11''. Slim but muscular build. Eyes are a pale yellow. When not wearing armor, he typically wears a long sleeved shirt with pants. Rarely, he likes to wear the traditional clothing from the planet he was born on, mostly if it's really hot and sunny, which is a long tunic stretching down to his thighs, some loose pants, and a turban wrapped in a very specific manner, all of which is made from some synthetic light cloth. When he goes into battle, he wears some light armor covering his chest, arms, and head.
  • Species, Age, and Gender – Human, 26, Male.
  • Equipment – DL-22 blaster pistol. DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle, and a attachable bipod for it. He also has some sort of vibroblade spear, which is fairly short and made for thrusting. I can trade out the blaster pistol for the spear if needed.
  • Abilities/Skills – Good aim with blaster weapons. Knows how to basically operate most armored vehicles, though not very skilled at any particular one. Excellent at combat with his vibro blade, above average at unarmed combat. Also good at cooking with a very large variety of ingredients. Not really a skill, but is fluent in his native language, which is basically a mix of Old Persian, Farsi, and Arabic with some fictional stuff thrown in there.
  • Personality – Reserved and professional most of the time, but when he feels that there isn't a threat nearby, he likes to relax and be lazy, and gets more outgoing. Hates people who drink alcohol, and won't ever consider doing it. Trusts people from his planet much more then anyone else. Loyal to the Empire, but not fanatic. He is mainly loyal to the Empire for the way they treat his homeworld. He is much more loyal to his home planet, but doesn't get into contact to them that much.
    • Religion — Taleed, and pretty much every other Imadlian, worships a faith very similar to Zoroastrianism, but with some strict rules. Some of these include: Not drinking alcohol(except a very certain type of wine, and very sparingly), a prayer when you first wake up, at midday or when you eat lunch, and before you go to sleep, and whenever you see a live fire you must mutter a prayer to it. Taleed believes very strongly in his faith.
  • Backstory – Born on a planet named Imdali, an extremely hot planet, which is mostly desert but with some small seas in the northern and southern hemispheres. Imdali lies in Imperial borders, and regularly supplies recruits and supplies for the Empire and is loyal to them, mostly just because they want to stay semi-autonomous. The planet has a culture that is basically The Achaemenid Empire, but Star Wars-ified and slightly modernized. Taleed was one of the recruits sent to the Empire, and after training for a long while, the Empire found that he is a remarkable spy. The Empire then employed him in various intelligence missions against the Rebellion, and after finding out about this new 'Trouble Squad', volunteered to go in undercover and find out more info, sabotage equipment, and possibly destroy the entire squad. His main goal is to find out information about many various things going on in the Alliance. So he went under the guise of a neutral mercenary to join the squad.

    • Of course, this isn't what is told to the Alliance. To them, he is a escapee for his planet trying to make enough money to make it back and fight for his people's freedom. He also said that he stole the blaster rifle from a stormtrooper, and that when he learned that the Alliance is looking for fighters, he signed up, hoping he would able to go back to his home.

I have no idea why I made a Space Persian, but whatever.

Yeah, I don't think I'll accept a Wampa as a character, given that they're only marginally smarter than the average animal. Maybe a human animal trainer with a Wampa? But even that's somewhat sketchy and I'll likely reject that as well. You could always try though, I suppose.

Whiphids and Gamorreans are big, brawler type aliens commonly seen offworld in Star Wars. There's countless other big, bulky, and tough species throughout Star Wars history. Wookieepedia is your friend for research like this.

I read it, I just wanted to see if you thought a Jedi was a good idea.

  • Name- Virahm Hohrm
  • Appearance- Hohrm is a wiphid, seven feet tall. He's got shaggy black fur, and one of his broken tusks which has been replaced by a metal cap along a horrible burn scar from a lightsbare blade. He's covered in scars and wears body armor that looks like it's been fused together from scraps of body armor. (Clone, Mandalorian and Storm Trooper can be recognized.) He generally wears a leather, kilt like garment around his waist and has a bandolier that holds his two rifles, his belt is a motley collection of explosives and bacta tanks.
  • Species, Age, and Gender- 234 year old Whiphid male.
  • Equipment- Hohrm wears two cortosis gauntlets, which while meant to be used against Sith, hurt no less when a giant monster hits you in the face while wearing them.
    • Several small Bacta Tank
    • TL-50 Heavy Repeater
    • EE-3 Blaster
    • Half dozen Thermal Detonators
    • A Dejarik Board that his father gave him
  • Abilities/Skills –
    • Skilled Fighter, especially in brawls and skirmishes
    • Has knowledge of criminal behavior and can generally scan people and notice select details.
    • Skilled with a blaster.
    • Intimidation
    • Knowledge of first aid.
  • Personality – Lazy, bloodthirsty and always good for a scrap, a woman or a game of Dejarik or cards. He's a hedonistic pirate and it's clear that he hasn't let go of the old days. He expresses admiration through insulting nick names and generally gives the rest of the trouble squad a hard time. That said, he's willing to take a laser bolt for any one of them. Even if he's going to insult them for making him do that.
  • Backstory – To say Horhm joined the alliance is to be using technicalities. A feared pirate from the outer rim, Horhm and his men upon the Cruiser Laughingstock and raided every ship. Be it imperial, clone, rebel or otherwise. Until, finally in 5 ABY, he attacked the wrong imperial vessel, the laughingstock destroyed and a Sith scarred and defeated Horhm, leaving him humiliated and imprisoned. He stayed imprisoned until a few days before the Death Star was destroyed, where he was freed by the Rebels. Only to be imprisoned one again. Though this time, Horhm received an offer. Either meet his end at the end of a blaster, or to join a new team. Horhm agreed, though he asked for the cortosis gauntlets be made. That way, when He sees Darth Vader again? Horhm will leave him with scars.

I think I laid out my feelings on Jedi (neutral leaning towards negative) in the first post but whatever. Your character concept - a brutal Whiphid pirate - is a good fit for the team but there's some issues I'd like you to look at before I can think of accepting him.

First off, is the age. While this RP draws from both Canon and Legends elements, my general rule of thumb is to use Legends info unless something from Canon directly contradicts that. With that being said, 234 years old is really old for a Whiphid seeing as their maximum lifespan according to Wookieepedia is 249 years old. And that's presumably Whiphids who live a healthy lifestyle and don't go around pirating and getting into lightsaber fights with the Empire. So I'm going to ask you age him down a bit. Old and grizzled is fine but almost on the brink of death isn't.

On that note, I don't quite like the idea of him having met Darth Vader and survived against him. Darth Vader is pretty ruthless across all incarnations and doesn't hesitate to kill even those close to him so it doesn't really make sense for him to spare some random pirate who had been robbing his ships. If you want to maintain his lightsaber scar, you could say he ran into a Jedi before Order 66. If you want to keep his feud with Darth Vader, you could say that it was on Vader's orders that his ship and men were killed and he was imprisoned but I don't think I want Virahm to have met and fought Vader.

As for equipment, you mention that he carries some cortosis gauntlets around. Cortosis is supposed to be pretty rare and the Alliance certainly aren't issuing any out, especially not to the infamous Trouble Squad. So you'd have to provide some explanation as to how he was able to keep a hold of those after his ship was destroyed and he was processed and sent to an Imperial prison. Also, Bacta tanks are only small and able to be carried on your belt in the game Battlefront and that's only for balance/gameplay reasons. Most bacta tanks are large enough to shove a person in. Also, I'm going to ask you scale the amount of grenades to at most, four.

Also, coming back to the cortosis gauntlets, you mention that he keeps them around to use against Sith. This game takes place well after Order 66. Most people in the galaxy aren't aware that the Emperor and Vader are actually Sith Lords. In fact, most people generally aren't aware of the Sith at all - even the Jedi Council in Episode I seemed skeptical of their return. Even if Virahm was aware of the Sith, he would hardly feel the need to keep cortosis gauntlets since there's only two of them left in the galaxy and the odds of running into one of them are astronomically low. Also, you mention that Virahm robbed ships that were "imperial, clone, rebel, or otherwise." While I suppose by clone, you could have been referring to his piracy days during the Clone Wars, Imperials and clone troopers are distinct entities even though a bunch of clones still make up the Stormtrooper Corps. You also mention that he lost his ship in 5 ABY, even though this RP takes place almost two years after Yavin, as mentioned in the first post. All of this suggests somewhat of an unfamiliarity with the setting.

I would recommend making the suggested edits, reading my first post a bit more clearly, and maybe brush up on your Star Wars lore (at least the chronology of the first six episodes) on Wookieepedia before resubmitting your character for acceptance. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM or post them here. I'm off to bed now and will be working most of tomorrow but I'll be checking on this thread and my inbox sporadically throughout the day.

Hi there! I'd love it if you could take a look at my character. I was mainly inspired by General Grievous, since he was a really, really cool Cyborg.

Name: Karion Fenril

Species: Cyborg, Human

Age: 22

Gender: Considers himself to still be male, despite the amputation of his arms and lower body

Appearance: At a distance, someone could easily mistake Karion for someone in a suit of heavy-duty armor. A closer look reveals that he isn't wearing any armor- he IS the armor. Although he remains humanoid, just as he was before his operation, the Cyborg is far more machine than man. His head is still very much human, with sandy blond hair and grey eyes. But from the neck down, his body shifts into a mass of bloody flesh and steel, wires running through his chest. He has no natural limbs anymore, as his legs and arms have both been amputated and replaced with mechanical prosthetics.

Because his head and upper torso are the only irreplaceable parts left of the Cyborg, grey titanium plating covers his upper half, forming a protective breastplate. His lower torso, arms, and legs are all similarly armored, but not nearly as much as his chest. Losing his arms or legs is a setback, but they can be repaired. If his vital organs are damaged, it would take a skilled surgeon- or even a mechanic- to save him.

Generally he wears a brown cloak that covers most of his lower body, in the hope that people will mistake him for a normal human.

Equipment: The main weapons that Karion uses are the ones that are either incorporated into his design, or are ones that stem from his enhancements. Due to having his limbs and legs replaced by mechanical ones, he can run faster and lift more than a regular human. His suit is also equipped with a wrist mounted flamethrower and grappling tether, and his left wrist has a sliding blade for close combat. Since he doesn't have any real long range weaponry, he has no real counter to long-range opponents.

Abilities/Skills: As previously stated, his increased physical strength and speed are his main skills. Karion's mechanical limbs also provide a good deal of precision, meaning that he can climb very well for someone that weighs as much as he does.

Personality: Karion's biggest defining trait is his nervousness. The explosion that almost killed came out of nowhere, and as such, has made the Cyborg extremely paranoid. Despite not actually having a flesh-and-blood body to twitch nervously with, Karion has somehow managed to make a six-foot robotic man fidgeting and looking over his shoulder normal behavior for him.

Backstory: Karion lived on a large outer-rim planet that attracted all types. It was a popular trading hub, and all sorts flitted in and out to spend and sell. While a good portion of trade was perfectly legal, illegal businesses survived and thrived. The most popular operation was weapon trading- shifty individuals sold weaponry, ships, and armor to anyone they could talk into buying from them.

The Empire was, naturally, rather opposed to all the crime going on. Not because it was crime, mind you- but because people were funding their enemies just as much as them. While it certainly wasn't troublesome enough to warrant a full-scale invasion, the planet attracted their attention.

Karion himself was completely innocent, of course. Working for a small company, he was a clerk for a small business. He happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, though; a multitude of explosives were detonated at the sites of more illegal operations, the Empire intending to wipe them out. But someone- purposely or not- had miscalculated, and the resulting blasts were extremely powerful, wiping out almost the whole of the thriving market area.

About half of the people shopping at the moment were killed instantly. About a third of the remaining shoppers were killed by debris, fires, and other resulting complications after the blast. The remaining survivors were almost all horribly scarred, disfigured, and hurt.

Intending to rectify their mistake, the Empire officials responsible for the screw-up provided care for the wounded, although they never quite admitted to blowing up the market themselves. It was rather obvious that they were at fault, of course. Only the stupid or naïve really believed them.

Karion was horribly injured in the blast. His legs were blown to bloody chunks, and his arms were mangled. The Empire officials paid him a tidy sum to demonstrate that they were good people, and that surely they were better then the terrorists that had blown the public market to hell, and moved on to the next poor injured sap. After all, he was going to die, wasn't he? Why help some back-water planet clerk?

Long story short, he didn't die. Through a combination of determination, pure luck, and a lot of pain, he was eventually fixed up through a lot of illegal surgery, legal surgery, and just plain idiotic mechanical surgery. Eventually, after a year of being bounced around and paying people with the Empire's "generous" donation, Karion managed to recover... although some might not see it that way.

Eventually he joined the Rebels via a recruiter at a small spaceport on his home planet, who managed to convince him to fight back against the Empire. It really wasn't all that hard- he had been turned into an amalgamation of man and machine, a abomination of steel and flesh. Although he was nervous as hell and half-convinced that someone was listening in on them, he joined the ranks of the Rebels.

But his physiology made it much harder for him to fit in with the bulk infantry of their troops. Karion was eventually bounced over to Trouble Squad, since his abilities were more suited to more specific operations.
