An idea I have is an extended version of the previous image, it would be 3 images, the first one showing obi-wan being halted by the stormtroopers, the second one is the mind trick, and the last one is the troopers waving them to move along

I found this image on wookiepedia as well

Current is fine. The meta humor works here because of the trope in question + everybody knows Star Wars.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Why do most of the defenses of the Obi Wan pic boil down to "What Fan Myopia?" We may be more lenient towards SW, but it doesn't get a blanket pass. And "Clear, Concise, Witty" is more than just a suggestion.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"The current doesn't feel like meta-humor to me, unless we change the caption like I suggested in post 9.
We have exceptions to the usual rules where appropriate, like on True Art Is Incomprehensible and Screw the Rules, I'm Beautiful!. Jedi Mind Trick is a good candidate to be one of those, if you ask me.
And anyway, if a picture of Obi-Wan is Fan Myopia, then so is the name Jedi Mind Trick, and the page needs a rename.

The difference is that an image can be replaced if there's something better, but to change a trope name you need to prove it doesn't work.
Check out my fanfiction! The problem with 29 is that it is not very clear what is happening, and the quote requires the reader to be familiar with "The Force Awakens". Obi Wan gets away with a lot because "A New Hope" (and the rest of the original trilogy, to an extent) is an universally known film, and the greatest Fountain of Memes ever (and the name of this trope is a good example). "The Force Awakens" has a lot of positive reception, but is not at the same category. Not yet, at least.
Ultimate Secret WarsBut that's the thing, there's no "universal" media. No matter how popular something is, there's always gonna be people who don't get the reference.
For hell's sake, I had no clue on what Star Wars was about until December 18 last year.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton! How "recognizable" a source of media is should not be used as an argument for why it should be the page image (similar to , I personally hadn't watched a single Star Wars film until last year). I would honestly prefer the two-panel Superman comic, because it shows the trope and is a non-SW example.

Which is why I like 8. It's clear and concise. Witty comes with the reference, but isn't necessary at all for understanding it.
Check out my fanfiction!Oh, for some reason I missed seeing 8. Yeah, I'll throw in my vote for it too, I don't think the art style detracts from how illustrative it is.
Crowner?
I don't think it's needed.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton!I think we should have a crowner.
(waves hand)
"You will create a crowner."
Crowner's hooked. I tried to find a way to add the captions in 28 to their respective panels as speech balloons but no website I found that has that function produced anything that looks good, so I gave up.
EDIT: Okay, I was able to salvage my last attempt, although the sizes and crops are rather clumsy to get around the frame the website added to each image. 28 is now in the crowner. If anyone wants to take a stab at a better version, be my guest.

I like 28 with the word bubbles, but the dialog is not quite right. In ANH, Obi-Wan says "You don't need to see his identification," and the Stormtrooper similarly responds "We don't need to see his identification." And he doesn't say, "Move along," there, it comes after a little more mind trickery. The scene in question.
Is editing speech balloons into media that doesn't typically have them considered valid in Image Pickin' threads, or is there just an exception for this one?
I prefer 27 to 8, mainly because 8 is close to being a page quote disguised as an image, while 27 is not (we see the mind trick effect, and the actual result of the mind trick.)
That's in 8 as well.
Check out my fanfiction!Votes bump; two in the green, one in consensus range.
No caption suggestions for a coupla days; locking up.

Would 20 work with just panels 2+3? The inverted pyramid stack looks a little messy to me.
