Opening.
First thing would be to clear the snideness and dismissiveness out of Glurge. Yes, one of its characteristics is that its overwhelmingly optimistic, sweet or encouraging, but that page is largely complaining.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Our definition is a little off from the one actually found in dictionaries, e.g. [1]. Not terribly off, but I trust lexicographers to track usage better than I'd trust...well, us.
So that's one thing.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. The definition for Glurge is too broad, but I think narrowing it to Glurge Addict's definition would just make it Tastes Like Diabetes. Either way, Glurge could definitely use an example purge.
I think perhaps if we start with the dictionary definition in 3, rather than the complaining one we have now, we can make the distinction between Glurge and Glurge Addict clearer. I really don't think a literary form and a character are the same trope.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.There's also this: Wisegeek article. Whether or not it's a reliable source, I've no idea.
I just read it. That article is a way better description of Glurge than what we've currently got. If we use that as a basis for our page, it will also help with the problem of Glurge Addict by allowing us to clear out the "This character likes cute things" bad examples.

On the one hand, we have Glurge.
On the other hand, we have Glurge Addict.
The two seem to use very different definitions of 'glurge.'
Googling the term also reveals varying definitions, so I honestly have no idea which is the correct one, if there is a correct definition. However, something here needs to change, since Glurge is ultimately sinister and Glurge Addict is entirely lighthearted.
As for what needs to be done, fucked if I know. I just noticed the problem, and decided it should be brought to light.
