Ah, HYDRA Cap is still a thing then?

Well its almost over at least.

Issue 9 just came out I think & 10 is the last issue.

Now as much as I dislike the Inhuman shilling Marvel has been doing, I would be hyped if Black Bolt was playable.

I'd usually be bothered by heroes fighting heroes, but in a story mode for a fighting game, 99 percent of the choices are gonna come down to something that leads to more fighting anyway, so it doesn't bug me here.

Plus, while Civil War is probably the most prominent example, superheroes fighting one another has literally been a thing as long as there have been superheroes. We even have a whole trope for it..

Jedah is so cool.

Why couldn't the rest of the game be as good.

[up]It seems to boil down to laziness and greed.

You couldn't even be bothered to advertise your new Resident Evil. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe doesn't make for good fighting game characters? I disagree because MKX used Leatherface just fine.

Meanwhile Injustice's latest fighter is Hellboy. Yeah, that's a roster to get pumped for.

[up] Yeah, let's bring a comic character from completely different publisher to "hype" up the roster. I bet if Capcom did the same everyone would say they are running out of ideas from both sides of the crossover.

Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!

I disagree because MKX used Leatherface just fine.

That's because from Day 1 Mortal Kombat's entire gimmick has been about gore and ultra violence, so serial killers fit right in with that. I don't really see the point in Redneck Zombie in a fighting game like this when there are others like Leon and Nemesis who fit much better.

Idk, I think Mv C should be all about the kitchen sink cast. The last game's cast had a lawyer with no combat experience a wolf sun god, and evil Humpty Dumpty. Redneck zombie would hardly be the most put there inclusion.

[up][up][up][up] Injustice 2 bringing in friggin' Hellboy of all characters makes me hope that Infinite gets a Guest Fighter DLC pack down the line.

[up][up]I don't think there's no circumstances where he should be in. Just that if we're talking Resident Evil rep, yeah, there's several other characters higher up on the food chain. (I'm still annoyed we've never gotten Ada Wong.)

[up][up] I mean, Marvel is owned by Disney. A Star Wars character is a possibility...

I don't think I would like guests. Not unless it was an early tease for a future crossover game. Like, I would buy a King of Fighters character pack if there was the promise for a Capcom vs SNK sequel further down the line. Otherwise, no, guests seem like a bad idea. Especially with people already complaining about Capcom not using eiter sets of IPs to their fullest extent. You know what I'd like to see? Gene from Godhand. Ryu from Breath of Fire. Kyosuke from Rival Schools. Characters from Capcom's brand that haven't been seen in an age.

Oh, and as a brief aside, I don't think the second DLC pack for a very different fighting game is good measuring stick. Not to mention that said character pack is only introducing one character out of three that actually belong to the setting and narrative.

[up][up] A Star Wars guest would be badass, even if it's someone like Darth Vader who'd be too obvious a pick. And on the topic of Disney, I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Judy Hopps (because Rocket Raccoon can't be the only furry little animal on the roster) or Princess Kida.

Also, I still stand by wanting JoJo characters included. If Injustice 2 can bring in a Dark Horse Comics character, I'm pretty sure Infinite can bring in a character or two from a Bandai Namco-licensed property.

All of these suggestions require Capcom not being lazy.

Guest characters would be a terrible idea.

Also, Star wars characters are a no go. Lucasfilms are unlikely to agree to that.

[up]×2

Except it wasn't Dark Horse they had to convince, just Mike Mignola. Which is far easier to do than convincing a company.

And Warner Brothers owns Looney Tunes, but no one ever suggests them for Injustice. Green Lantern Daffy Duck was a thing too.

[up]This current roster is a terrible idea.

But considering how vast the Marvel Universe is, there should be someone to use if Capcom wasn't so...freaking...lazy. Some miniseries, some obscure character. Who wants to see Nth Man? He's cooler than Rad could ever be.

Why does Capcom and Marvel think it's a good idea to introduce one of the most hated storylines into their Vs games?

Zeromaeus Since: May, 2010
#3768: Aug 23rd 2017 at 9:19:42 AM

They're not using One More Day Civil War. Its clearly just a scene where the good guys fight because its a fighting game and every interaction ends in a fight in fighting games.

Also, from what I understand, Capcom usually doesn't get to pick which Marvel characters they can use. They can ask for specific ones, but everything has to be OK'ed by Marvel first. The Marvel side shows where Marvel's priorities lie.

These days due to the success of the MCU universe, they promote the heroes featured in those movies. Although as people have pointed out, back in the 90's it was the X-Men who racked up the roster due to their animated series back then.

Now you're just using hyperbole. It's obviously not based on Civil War. Unless i missed the part where Civil War had Ultron merge with another villain using the Infinity Gems.

[up]×4

That's an overly dramatic and subjective statement. Also not remotely what i was talking about.

And I'd rather have Elsa Bloodstone or Blade over the Nth Man.

Exactly. They want to promote the movie characters because that's where their money is right now. In fact, Capcom had to fight to get Shuma Gorath as DLC for Mvc3U just because its a dormant character in the comics. In fact, Marvel said they could only use the character if he was DLC. They were also noted as specifically denying character inclusions like Venom.

[up]x7 - Isn't DC Comics currently publishing a Batman/Elmer Fudd comic? There's their next Injustice 2 character right there. tongue

[up]x5 & [up]x4 - We won't know for sure if this is yet another Civil War adaptation until the game finally comes out, but if it is, how many times have they used that storyline now? I know that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 used parts of that storyline along with Secret War (2004), and it was used for a story arc in Avengers Assemble, and of course there's Civil War II and the MCU movie. Anything else I'm missing?

I don't think anyone would've minded if they went with something different and less used like Contest Of Champions or Secret Wars.

[up]Secret Wars actually makes perfect sense for this if they didn't want to go too deep in the story. The Beyonder transports characters from the Marvel Universe and all these games and has them slug it out. You get factions, a clear goal, and a reason for everyone to be there.

Zeromaeus Since: May, 2010
#3774: Aug 23rd 2017 at 9:35:50 AM

And for the final boss, you approach the Beyonder to find DOOM sitting upon his god throne. The fight starts and you are immediately smitten. God DOOM too OP. Plz nerf.

We already know for sure that it's not based on Civil War, they're not fighting over registration for Christ sake.

It's a little ridiculous to say that a moment with the heroes having a disagreement means the story is based on Civil War, as if heroes never had disagreements before that story.

He'll, Hero vs Hero fights are a common trope in crossovers.

[up]×3

There's already a game based on Contest of Champions.

[up]×1

If you're going with God Doom as the final boss, and that is a better choice than the beyonder, you might as well go with the Recent Secret Wars.

Have Battleworld split into territories based on characters from both sides. Though the Deadlands would probably be based on Resident Evil instead of Marvel Zombies or a mix of both.
