I think this may have gotten drowned out in the controversy, but they released a video on the control scheme and Hypers.

I think only allowing you access to one Hyper in Easy is a fair compromise.

[up]x3 I wouldn't have expected anything less. "Characters as functions" falls appart so easily in a world where Super Smash Bros. and Netherrealm's games exist.

I mean, by that logic, there is really no point of modding characters to look like other characters.

Or paying for a license like Marvel to begin with, where 90 percent of the appeal is the characters involved.

[up]If it was just functions we would have gotten Tatsunoko vs Capcom II now that they got the Speed Racer rights back.

...I just made myself want that game instead.

Should I put "functions" in Memes.Capcom Vs Whatever then?

Could be worse. He could've been the dude at Ubisoft that said that female playable characters are too hard to animate.

Looking at the absolute truckload of problems and glitches with Assassin's Creed Unity, maybe it really was.

This is incredibly petty.....

No studio exec should be immature enough to do this.

“…the X department is forbidden to create new characters.”

Wait, that's not true!

Haven't there been some new mutant characters as of late?

[up][up][up]That is an old quote from Claremont and was debunked 2 years ago. The Fox ban is real, but the specific clause about Marvel being forbidden from creating new mutants is provably false. The recent run from Creator/Bendis had a team that largely consisted of newly-created mutants and writers have not stopped introducing new ones.

Generation X, which just launched a month or two ago, has a new mutant as one of the main characters.

Is anyone still following this thread? I know that conversation can slow down sometimes, but it feels like a wasteland when there hasn't been a post for several days (at least to me it does).

Anyways, someone on NeoGAF actually found some of the variant covers. They're nothing too surprising... expect for the Spider-Man/Deadpool cover, which, as the NeoGAF poster notes, might not be what you're expecting...

In case anyone doesn't want to follow the link, the covers are as follows: All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #7 features Gamora and Strider Hiryu, Champions #11 features Nova and Zero, Hawkeye #9 features Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Dante, and Morrigan... and Spider-Man/Deadpool #20 features Firebrand and, of all characters, freaking Dormammu!

While I'm glad Dormammu is back, this kinda firmly de-confirms both Spidey and Deadpool unless one of them makes it on another variant.

There is 0% chance Spidey is being passed over for this game. I'm definitely betting he, maybe Venom will be revealed at EVO, so they can strike while the film hype is still hot.

Deadpool though? It ain't looking too good.

That's a load. Deadpool's comic being used to shill other characters, including one no one likes!

Yeah, you, Red Waste of Space. You wish you got to be in a movie opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.

re: Maximilian's Real Talk: i think that at the end of the day, my general feelings for this game are pretty much the same as him, not gonna let some red tape prevent me from getting the game, but it does put a damper on my hype. at least the little i figured out from the story mode demo is getting me hyped to play Dante once again.

what i don't really appreciate is everyone taking this game through the shitter solely because of the roster and graphics, especially in comparison to Dragonball Fighter Z. i guess not a whole lot of people have read Arc System Works's entry in the Capcom Sequel Stagnation page - i'll take the day negative 60 DLC over essentially being forced to pay for patches, because at least i can just ignore the former. (let's hope Harada's stance on DLC characters gets ArcSys to dial back the Aksys business practices ingrained in them for a bit.)

Well, the roster is extremely important for a crossover fighting game like this series, but the base game roster for this game seems very barebones compared to, say, Injustice 2 or Smash 4.

[up][up] No argument there. But at the same time, a lot has happened to Marvel over the 6 years between MvC3 and Infinite.

It was only a year after MvC3 that a certain movie went and scored gangbusters, blowing everyone away by basically saying for more than 2 hours, "hey, goobers! A shared universe between different styles of superhero movies can work and not be a huge waste of time and energy!" It was the year Marvel went "hey, we don't have to rely on Fox's half-assed X-movies and F4-movies!" And Fox was all "hey, we still have the film rights for X-Men! Since Marvel's doing their own movies, let's keep doing X-movies while hammering in that our movies are based on Marvel properties, even if our movies don't have the involvement of that Feige guy! Let's just pray most audiences have the attention-span of goldfish."

The way I see it, Marvel didn't want to give any of Fox's movie projects any free marketing, since now that Marvel's own movies are widely praised, a lot of Fox's efforts will look half-assed by comparison (Logan and Deadpool not withstanding). I guess tv shows like Legion and The Gifted are signs that Marvel and Fox are starting to will themselves into cooperating with each other, but they seem to still have a long way to go.

In any case, Infinite is totally coming to EVO 2017!

Just their latest build, and not for any serious competition since the game isn't gold, yet.
