You can have road movies everywhere except Britain, as it so appears.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I mean it's a wet little rock. It's so dull and depressing it's people conquered half the world to get away from it.
Britain is just too populated. You can't WALK half an hour without bumping into a village that's four hundred years old. We don't have the wastelands you need for a road trip story.
You CAN tell back packing stories though. Which are thematically a completely different genre.
Edit: that's my favourite description of my home country to date.

You can still have survival flicks in places like the Scottish Highlands though (see Dog Soldiers for example).
I'm curious to see what happened to all of the other mutants. One theory I've heard is that Essex Corp unleashed a version of the Legacy Virus to deal with them.
I'd be happy for it to be a children of men scenario where they just stopped being born. And no one knows why.
I'd like the film to imply Ororo, Jean and Scott are all alive, but off integrated with human society. Meanwhile Charles and Logan don't have a life outside of fighting for mutants.

Is it weird that Professor X having Alzheimer's is inherently far more fascinating to me than Wolverine facing mortality?
I mean, sure, mortality is a big deal but Professor X, the man whose brain is the most powerful weapon on Earth, has a brain that's gradually degenerating in a chaotic and natural way? This isn't "psychic powers burning out his brain" it's "inevitable march towards dementia" which is just a fascinating concept to me.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I think both are fascinating for the same reason. It's the inevitability. Xavier and Logan are fading away not because of nefarious schemes or power drainage, they're just old. So Xavier, the world's most powerful mind, faces alzheimer, while Logan, the world's most powerful regenerator, faces the breakdown of his regeneration.
The trailer obliquely implies the breakdown of Logan's Healing Factor is slowly killing him via Adamantium Poisoning ("Logan...you still have time..."), just like Xavier's old age and dementia must be wreaking havoc on his psychic powers.
This seems like a very bleak movie. And I love it.
Also, regarding the loss of the X-Men: It's vaguely possible they're adapting, at least in part, the part of OML where Logan kills the X-Men with his bare hands due an illusion and crosses the Despair Event Horizon for it. One of the first shots in the trailer is Logan's bloodied fist with Xavier saying "Logan, what have you done?"
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Also I'm almost positive that Xavier at least isn't making out of this film alive. He has "I'm a dead man" written all over him.
They seem to be taking elements from OML, The Death of Wolverine, and X-23: Innocence Lost for this, which is an interesting (and very dark) combination.
Wasn't Sinister in one of the many Wolverine origin comics?
I think the only main character making it out alive here is x-23. Xavier will die just before the climax, And Logan will follow him not long after the final battle, either going down in a blaze of glory or peacefully embracing his end alongside X-23 as his wounds and adamantium poisoning do him in.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Hopefully he gets a more dignified exit this time.
I could see Logan dying in X-23's arms at the end actually.
Well, this looks like it's gonna kick all our asses.
So.....Fox is probably gonna be holding on to the X Men after this I suppose.
Apocalypse may have stumbled a bit, but between this and Deadpool, the X Men still aren't going anywhere.
One Strip! One Strip! That's pretty much what I'm expecting. A passing of the torch symbolically.
Normally I will come to these threads and bitch about how these ARE nothing like the comics in aesthetics and story telling. But since this film is a loose adaption to Old Man Logan and it's being done by the same people who did The Wolverine AND how (in spite of all the controversy with Marvel and Disney) the X-Men films are becoming more like the comics than the previous films AND Deadpool, this film gets a pass for the lack of accurate costumes (though to be fair Jackman looks exactly like Old Man Logan).
So yeah, I'm hype for this film. It is pretty interesting that they are giving Hugh Jackman a conclusion to his time as the Canadian Berzerker. It's rare for an actor to get some sort of closure to their tenure playing a super hero before they inevitably get replaced with a new actor.
I've never been a huge X-Men person, but wow. This movie looks fantastic. I'm really surprised that they're doing the whole 'dealing with mortality' thing, that and how down to earth it looks (although maybe that's just the "Johnny Cash's Hurt" effect?). I really didn't expect this from a Fox superhero movie. And there's X-23, obviously that's awesome. I can't wait.
Still, this makes the end of Days of Future Past pretty depressing.
I'm hoping that the conflict is a let's on a lot one to Charles and Logan, and the rest of the now disbanded x-men have semi good lives. At least to keep Days genuine.
So the director of this film directed the Johnny Cash bio pic. Go figure.
Also, that bionic hand looks so cool. I'm loving the Diesel punk western aesthetic.
Speaking on the villain with the metal arm, I read that he is a member of the Reaver. Considering the plot of the movie and the fact Mr. Sinister is the Bigger Bad, it is best to assumed that elements from the Mutant Massacre story will be used in the film (and maybe in the next X-Man movie as well showing off the events).

I wonder if they might retcon it to somehow not be in the same timeline as the regular films just so they don't come off as a complete Shoot the Shaggy Dog story.
It would be brace of them to do that without time travel to explain why there's a third time line.
I mean, the end of days feel triumphant because Scot and Jean get to live twenty years longer than they would have. And that's still true even if they immediately die.
Holy crap. I didn't expect this. Almost looked like a cinematic version of Old Man Logan.
I like the name choice: Wolverine: Origins, The Wolverine, Logan. I suppose the next few we'll see are "Clark, Bruce Wayne, Bruce Banner, Barton."
In all seriousness, "X-Men The Last of Us" looks... okay, in all seriousness, this looks interesting. Not the kind of film I expected. How on earth did we go from the kickass hoverchair future of DOFP to Logan? I almost don't want to do any research because this is so out of left field, just be surprised once I see it in theaters.
I'm almost disappointed this isn't Old Man Logan. Jackman looks the part in that first trailer.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!You can have a timeline with a hoverchair, or one without sentinels. You only get one, count yourself lucky.
Given all the time-fuckery I'm surprised they have a future to begin with.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
Then you have to have Wolverine deal with all the horrific creatures that live in the Outback.
Actually I wanna see that now.
