I'd like to see the power system be explained in more detail.
Sounds cool, so I'll be hanging around to check this out.
I am so fucking down for this you have no idea. It sounds like Earthbound meets JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and that's freaking awesome.
Long live the New Bev.The power systems is fairly simple: Owners of these masks, dubbed mood users, have an ability that affects allies around them positively/negatively, with a trade off- Someone with an Anger mood has an AOE effect, in which allies are angered- they have better attack, but maybe less defense/accuracy, for example. An Anger Mood might also have a special power unique to them- they might be able to fall into a berserk-like rage with increased power, or momentarily imbue their powers with flame instead. It's up to the user, but powers shouldn't be overpowered to the point where they're an immediate game-changer. That's only restricted to at least one(maybe 2) big-bads, with some restrictions.
Mood users can also share masks among each other, creating a combination of both- for example, a Happy + Anger Mood might create a Scrappy Mood for the person wearing it. These combination Moods have a level of power greater than individual moods, and are reserved for some of the greater, more important enemies/allies out there. They also have a new set of powers similar to the two that were combined to create it.
This sounds cool.
[TOP SECRET]And, it's actually based on Stands from JJBA, so that's another thing! I'm just hoping the power system doesn't sound too complicated- even then, I'll work something out!
I'm down for this.
Edit: I think my character will be an autistic person with dyslexia. His emotional power will be empathy based. As in, he feels strongly for a person who is suffering and has a very big heart, but he doesn't know how to really help a person.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Sounds cool.
I do have a question. What if a character has a mask based around a usually non-violent emotion? Like happiness or bliss? Will they be essentially pacifists or what?
Long live the New Bev.It's all dependent on how your choose to portray this character of yours- my interpretation of something similar to that is someone who's willing to join a fight, but normally serves as a healer rather than an actually offensive person.
Now, before I forget, what'd people prefer more- an quest, where people submit actions and determine the outcome, or an RP where everyone does something? If it's the latter, we might have to try and make a posting order..
Usually in these sorts of things people just post whenever and describe the scene/stuff their character does, though usually the GM adds stuff when special events/stuff is supposed to occur, and runs the NPCs/non-player controlled enemies. There doesn't really need to be any set order, though usually players wait for GM posts/other players if something has to react to their characters doing stuff.
Haven't fully decided if I'm gonna join this, as the intro is a bit bare-bones at the moment and I'm not 100% sure I'm interested in the concept, but I've got an idea for a character. Also would have to wait for a more formal sign-up sheet and more background information about the setting and stuff.
Also, will we be designing the powers used by these masks, or will you be assigning stuff based on how we flesh out our character sheets?
That's originally what I was planning, so I'm glad I had the right idea.. kinda! And yes, I know it's pretty bare so far- I'm just posting this so I can get the idea out there! Finally, in terms of power, players can make their own, but ultimately, they'll show me their ideas to make sure they're not overpowered.. something along the lines of the 3rd level of Super Weight is normally acceptable.
Where's the line between emotions and ideas here? For example, could I make Mr. Rational as a character, or would that not work with your vision?
By the way, chalk me up as interested, but I have rather time-consuming final exams in the near future, so I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post.
Well, that's something I also should've brought up, too- it's not exactly restricted to emotions, but personality traits can also work as well- something like an Observant (something I've been thinking of) or Rational mood would work the same; you just have to formulate how their mood could affect others with their powers. And no worries- take your time, and good luck on those finals!
Personally, I would prefer an RP format, but I'd be willing to give the quest a go, too.
I'm interested. Thinking up a concept based on Tranquil Fury
I am interested, with a basked mashed on Comedy.
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you! Here's a (sorta prototype) character creation for you all, if you're ready to sorta create characters!

As for the setting, I should mention that the basic setting of this place is rather suburban, that melds into a more urban setting farther out- most of the kid's who attend the school live in a cul-de-sac-like area; the school, Callow's Park High, serves as a marking point before the city near by, Wellcoast- modern and fairly warm throughout the year, the city sits close to the equator, beaches lining its borders.. I'll have to work more on that in the future, but here this goes, just for reference!

- Name: Gabriel Drummond
- Age: 18
- Grade Level: 12 grade
- Mood: Empathy. He has a heightened sense of awareness thanks to his mood, as well gaining increased speed and strength. This sense of awareness allows him to be able to read other people and predict their next move, as long as he can see them. So, he can avoid his opponents attack before they even make it, and counter appropriately.
- He can activate his full power for a brief five seconds. When he does so, he becomes aware of all his surroundings, what his opponents and allies are doing, how they are feeling, and their very thoughts. This is something that is draining, and he can only us it once a day. However, once he uses it, he now knows exactly how to defeat his enemy and he gains a blue glow around his hands, which magnify his attacks. The blue glow lasts a mere seven seconds, but is very devasting when used. Once he finishes using his full power, Gabriel will collapse from exhaustion.
- Physical Appearance: White, with brown hair and blue eyes. Some of his teeth are sorta crooked. His nose is slightly prominent.
- Bio: Gabriel was born the second oldest in a family of what ended up being 10 kids, and the oldest boy. He was born with autism, and wasn't diagnosed until he was 13. Having grown up in such a large family, he developed a very big and caring heart, and will do anything to keep someone he cares about safe. He was always a bit of a loner in school, and had trouble socialising. But he cares deeply about every creature, and cannot stand watching someone suffer unnecessarily.
- Recently, he has noticed odd goings on in his home town, which has greatly disturbed him. So, he has started trying to figure out what is wrong.
- Other Info: As he has autism, he feels emotion very strongly, and thus will shut himself off from the rest of the world if he has very strong emotions. His mask is a light blue, with no mouth, and two large eyes, which seem to stare into a person's soul.

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.Three questions. First off, do we just assume that the area is a mixing bag of social classes, or is there a socioeconomic standard for the school? Secondly, what grade system are we using? Finally, do we get to choose what end of the moral spectrum we're on, or is it a heroes-only club?

- Name: Lola Breen
- Age: 13
- Grade Level: 8
- Mood: Mania. Lola has access to a sort of downplayed 'super mode', that both increases her strength and dexterity and also allows her to ignore woulds, but drains her stamina very quickly.
- Physical Appearance: A Caucasian girl with red hair and green eyes.
- Bio: The only child of a single mother. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 11. At school, she's known as 'Fairyland Maniac Girl' due to a an incident while in 'mania' where she rambled about a government conspiracy to hide the existence of fairies. When she's in a 'normal' or depressive mood, she's very ashamed of this incident. She's usually a cheerful, energetic and creative girl who wants to be an author.
- She is aware of the 'plague' and, as she's currently in mania, thinks the fairies are behind it.
- Other Info: Has type 1 bipolar disorder. She's best known for her mania, and she even values it to an extent- she considers her best stories to be the ones written in her mania phase.
- Her mask is a masquerade ball mask, with several feathers and colours- far more than an average masquerade mask.

Oh look, a ghost!- Name: Luke "Lucky" Motif.
- Age: 15.
- Grade Level: 10th.
- Mood: Joy. While he's not strong for combat, he can certainly help his friends in many ways. Able to heal his friends and boost their stats somewhat. Unfortunately, as he is weak, he's pretty easy to take out. On the brighter side, though, he can heal himself, just not as much as he can heal his teammates.
- Physical Appearance: A pretty scrawny, short, white kid with light brown eyes and black hair.
- Bio: Lucky's backstory is not noteworthy. He was a single child with a dog named Charlie raised by caring parents. There, that's all you need to know. What's notable is that, despite being extremely happy all the time, he's actually considered a pessimist. The reason he's so happy is because he knows that there's nothing he can do to change fate so he doesn't bother. He just lets things come. He's also a sworn pacifist, and will always try to avoid conflict.
- Lucky notices the weird things happening around him. It's just that he knew there was nothing he could really do about it, so he just didn't bother with it. That is, until the mask arrived.
- Other Info: Yes, his name is a pun on "leitmotif." What does this add to the game? Probably nothing. Expect a lot of puns, he's that kind of character.
- His mask is essentially just a plate with a massive smile. No really, that's it. Just a grin and eye sockets.

Long live the New Bev.@Mistfader: Most of the students that attend the school are at least in a low/high-ish middle class position, but there can be a few outliers. The grading system goes from 7th grade up to 12th. If it's necessary to know, the younger grades head to a campus for K-6. And you can be whatever you feel like morally- however, I'm assuming most people will choose to be some kind of hero, so your character will be met with resistance.
Was also thinking of making an evil-ish character, though given that caveat and some of the minimalist character sheets so far, I'm still not sure whether I want to join this.
Information
Callow's Park was nothing more than a location on a map, and anyone who lived there could say the same. But, as the school year comes to a start, the change is too noticeable to ignore. Strange masks at their front doors. A sudden haze of emotion hovering over the area. Confusion surrounds the paranormal activity surrounding the town, as the worst in everyone is brought out in ways that shouldn't be accepted.
A number of youths step up to the plate; using the gifts given to them in the midst of this chaos, they make use of it to rid their hometown of this emotional plague- green, inexperienced, and unaware of what they're fighting against, the emotionally attuned advance on to end this strange epidemic.
Strange (and overly elaborate) intros aside, this RP takes place in a suburban/urban town by the name of Callow's Park. A strange epidemic has occurred in which people all around start to show the personality traits they exhibit the most a lot more than they normally would. In addition to that, various kids who attend Callow's Park High, along with a few others, return home one day to find a strange mask, representing the emotion they tend to show the most.
