Given how rumors typically work and the fact that the MC was arrested for "assault", it wouldn't surprise me if the rumor ended up getting exaggerated to attempted murder.

• The words TEACHER PERV activate the mysterious app in my phone! It better be a Samsung I tell ya. And suddenly we're in Shadowland. First dungeon is a castle! Again.
• OBLIGATORY PERSONA AWAKENING SEQUENCE! That was badass. According to Arsene, a Persona's power is your accumulated hatred and rage focused and directed against the enemy. SHADOWS HAVE THE FORMS OF PERSONAS NOW.
• Let me tell you something: Ryuji is the real hero in this scene. He gets his ass kicked, beaten up badly, and he still has the guts to distract the soldiers and yells at the protag to run away. That is one bro. He officially gets more respect than all other Persona characters so far.
• KITTTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. OH MY GOD WHY IS IT SO CUTE. I want to adopt it. Can I adopt it? Even its voice is cute! And Zorro!
• Kitty busts out of the dungeon, we get a stern talking to from the police, and...Kamoshida greets us at the front door with the principal. Ryuji throws some nice adjectives his way! I like that. Guy is a douche. But since we're half a day late after almost dying, I need to introduce myself.
• "He looks normal, but what if he punches you in the face when you look at him?" My classmates are not very smart. According to the school journalist, I now know what funny rumors are flying around about me. Apparently I like getting drunk and then getting into fights and assaulting people. Got it.
• Takamaki has her own set of rumors, Some girls like to think she dated me before Kamoshida. Ew. Given how the principal drools over Kamoshida's achievements and his contributions to the school's reputation, I can see why his sexual deviance is not called into question. He's a money-maker!

I don't think you have the choice to not adopt him. Or ever have him leave your side. Silly students. Persona protagonists are always perfectly sober when they get into fights and assault people.

I am impressed Kamoshida is such a giant ranging asshole. I am also impressed they are pulling no punches with the wording. "You didn't get to be my partner, so I had to use Shiho instead." Seriously, what is wrong with that guy? He blackmails a schoolgirl that he will remove her best friend from the team and then proceeds to molest said best friend as payback. And she almost killed herself! She's not dead though, which is a relief.

Talking Personas are cool. They're "the criminal rebel souls residing inside us". To use a Persona is to direct your concentrated anger and hate towards your enemy. I like this approach. And we get to steal the corruption in their hearts to make them spill their asshole beans! This makes me very happy.

Anne-dono! Morgana is in love. What a cute kitty. He's the one who came up with the idea that we need to use codenames because you don't know what might happen if you say your real name out loud in Pales. Interestingly, this comes up in a throwaway conversation with Ryuji, so I have this feeling it will be significant later.

So is there a direct link between Yaldabaoth and the human villains? It seems like there are sort of two plots going simultaneously.

If I'm understanding this correctly, he created the Palace and intentionally gave Goro (and Joker) access so he could kick off the plot with Shido.

Only in that relatively minor aspect. Yaldy is not only far more foreshadowed and active in the story than she was, their motives are complete opposites of each other.

Wikia says there's something called a "Rare Persona" in this game that can only be gotten in some RNG-dependent way, can't be used in battle but can be used for fusion, and are all based on artifacts and treasures, e.g. the Hope Diamond. Anyone know more about this? And any pictures?

The only source I can find on that is one person who said they got an Orlov. It's probably legit though, it's an awfully silly thing to make up.

I can confirm the Rare Personas being a thing, but not their names. They're the replacements for the Golden Hands.

I knew about them through the SMT wiki.
