Have you ever read a dystopian story where a rag tag team full of misfits try to over throw the big bad mega corp? Have you ever thought this has been bit over done as of late? Or you've might have question why the media always portrays mega corporations as the devil? Have you ever wished mega corps were portrayed in a neutral light?

well you guys are in luck because I got a genius idea. There's this conflict between two rivaling augmentation companies who are trying to win over their customers and demonize the other in order to get profit. However, their opinions are no better than the other and the conflict itself is more or less grey-ish. Sure their bosses can do some questionable things in order to sell their products but they still care about well being of their customers and staff like any company would ( minus EA).

any questions or suggestions for my idea?

Want an easy answer why most media portrays corporations in a negative light? Get a map of the US. Dot the main heavy industry centers - oil, manufacturing, agriculture, chemicals etc. Now dot the main media centers - basically L.A. See how they don't match at all? That's about it. Apart from specific product placement deals or films Backed by the Pentagon (for which otherwise successful directors like Michael Bay get such a bad rap), Hollywood is reluctant to show any industry in a positive light... apart from its own, of course. When was the last time you saw a film about a greedy studio trying to copyright something as innocent as the Happy Birthday to You song - 'cause it'd be a documentary.

Still, I'd love to see a sort of cold war between rival corporations, with augmented mercenaries security specialists duking it out superhero style, all with a punch-clock mentality.

"Hey, Steve, never heard you signed up with Trope.Co. Wrist-rocket!"

"Yeah, their dental's not that great, but the vacation bonuses are nice. Static-bomb!"

"I was thinking about switching too, but the regional boss bought it last week, so I'm up for a promotion. [to bystanders] Shop at Trope-Mart, kids, where the price is the real killer!"

"You get paid to say that, don't you?"

"Wouldn't ever say it otherwise."

"Do-ho-ho-ho-hoh!"

I'd also say another reason is that it stops them from demonizing any one particular nation. Actually, for that matter, part of the problem is that Eagleland has no real Worthy Opponent at this point in time, so you kind of have to make one up. Mega Corps are a convenient target. Also, Hollywood is somewhat liberal.

Personally, if you want to go with a non-evil MegaCorp, I'd suggest going with a post-cyberpunk "Neo-Feudalism". The middle ages were basically a standard cyberpunk setting socially speaking-the government collapses and a bunch of wealthy folk stepped in and used their private armies to restore order. You know how Fantasy settings will show benevolent feudal lords? Just take those guys and make them CE Os. Of course, you may also consider making the antagonists Mega Corps as well to make the concept more neutral, where some corporations are helpful and others are evil.

In my own sci-fantasy setting, there's a MegaCorp called "Atlas Industries", which is portrayed in a mostly benevolent light. The protagonists actually work for their nation's government for the most part, but their weapons and Mecha-Mooks and such are made by Atlas. Their CEO got rich by making search-and-rescue robots.

"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"
