LV-426- Going for the kill

(So, can't dodge that, eh?)

Thanatos wastes no time as the smoke lingered in the area. This was it. Covered in the smoke, and hit by a dust attack, his opponent was vulnerable and decloaked.

With a swift movement, Thanatos transforms into his airplane form and performs a fly-by past his dazed opponent, his wings outstretched... at the enemy's neck level.

Each tipped with his laser blades.

Either way, he was anticipating any sudden movements, and cautious not to hit his target's grenade section... laser blades and reactive dust in the grenades would NOT go well.

Tower

Vivian's stoic expression didn't change one bit upon seeing that the attacker she threw was merely singed at best from the grenade explosion they were caught in, and she generated a pair of submachine guns with her Aura-crafted plasma, despite being near the point where she'd be given a warning about the excess energy buildup from her plasma usage.

"Any idea as to just who...or rather, what these things are?", she asked Talon in her usual monotone.

Elevator Conundrum

"I'm fine either way, to be honest. Just a bit bored at this rate. Nobody around to fight."

Near the elevator

Growing short on patience, Wilhelm would shoulder his way past Yoko and Freddie and up to the elevator, saying "Time is of the essence my friends!" as he did so.

Leaning Recht against the nearest wall, Wilhelm would begin to attempt to pry the elevator doors open with his hands.

At the Elevator

"Or yeah, you could do that too. Having fun there, big guy?"

Yoko shrugs. Still really nothing for her to do.

LV-426

The enemy fell to the ground. Its head neatly sliced off. "Well well, this is interesting." Came a voice from the helmet. "You know, you Guardians were really just supposed to be an endorsement. You know, a selling point. I mean sure you guys are a joke but you're a joke with status. Now the whole plan has gone straight to hell hasn't it?"

Hallway

As Wilhelm heaved the elevator doors easily slid open. The elevator was perfectly well lit and apparently unharmed. Some lovely music was even playing.

Control tower

The last enemy took a moment to set its feet. Then it charged, before breaking and using the momentum to pitch two more bombs at the trio.

"No." Freddie immediately backed up and away from the elevator, a mixture of fear and anger in his eyes. "No. Not getting in that. Uh, Yoko, can't you, uh, induce plasma discharges or something? We need a way to cut into the wall there to get to the shaft." He pointed up at the wall above the elevator. "Because I am not getting in there."

Elevator World: Home of This Here Elevator

"Huh? Oh, yeah, right, let's see."

She flexes her arm, warming up the plasma-organ in her cybernetic body. It hums to life, and a small spike of plasma jets out of her right pointer finger.

"Lemme just trace this out...."

She begins cutting into the elevator shaft.

LV-426

"Kill Confirmed."

The jet-robot keeps its energy blades as it transforms back into a humanoid form. If Thanatos could grin, he'd be doing so now. And then comes the message.

"The plan's over? Nah. Maybe just a change in mission objective."

He walks away from the head as he takes caution, and makes sure to record that message to broadcast it to the others. What was definitely concerning was that these guys did know who the operatives were and where they were from.

[Black Rook to all. Recorded message from one of these things. They kinda know us.]

[TRANSMITTED MESSAGE]

[You guys need me anywhere?]

Thanatos sends a message to the rest of the team. Opening up a leg hatch to fire a (non-explosive) homing missile to fly around and smoke the area up, he goes over to find a new fire extinguisher. Not worth being alone.

(So, the irritatingly dodgy sort... but not too durable. When in doubt, smoke them out.)

Elevator

Retrieving his trusty hammer, Wilhelm sighed as Yoko began cutting into the Elevator shaft. His impatience growing exponentially as he waited.

"This is taking far too long and my armour is too bulky to let me climb the shaft. So either we take the elevator up or we can find another way up. Like stairs"

Fuck Elevators

"If—if you doubt my weapon's ability you're welcome to use the stairs!" Freddie whipped around and shouted at the much older Huntsman, and then immediately regretted it. His face turned white, an expression of pure terror took hold, and he just sort of slowly turned back around. "Um. Anyway. With the... lemme just..."

Freddie stepped in next to Yoko and swung his sickle down through the crack to part it more cleanly, then swung his hammer to fully cave it outwards into the elevator shaft. With the cable now exposed, Freddie sliced it to send the elevator tumbling to the floors below before firing his hook up the shaft. He tested its grip a few times, and assuming all went well he'd start climbing. "The cables can hold a ton or two."

Elevator Squad - GOING UP

"Nice. Right, I'm gonna take point. Wilhelm, guard the rear. Everyone else, sort yourselves out into some sort of order."

The bishop steps into the elevator shaft, then jumps past Freddie. Instead of trusting the cable, she wall jumps back and forth up the shaft.

"Let's see if we have any more friends around."

Taking the stairs

Rolling his eyes as his compatriots decided to take the most obtuse course of action, Wilhelm began to charge up the stairs, activating Dreadnought as he did so.

Every time the knight errant would find himself on a new floor, Wilhelm would call out the number on his comms, doing his best to keep his location known to those he was partnered up with.

LV-426

"You're not terribly bright are you? Not that it isn't anything I already didn't know from your file. I was talking about my plan not yours!" The voice from the helmet called after Thanatos. "Honestly, how do you put up with him?" It asked, clearly talking to the others in the hallway.

Elevator Shaft

The elevator fell about one story down to the basement, kicking up a large amount of dust. As Yoko jumped around she would have only a moment to react as the dust shifted in front of her as one of the cyborgs attempt to tackle her out of the air. Meanwhile Freddie would have to contend with a sudden burst of bullets from atop one of the beams in the elevator shaft.

Stairs

Wilhelm had just made is past the second floor before he felt a brief tug on one of his feet and he pulled the wire connected to the pins on the grenades that had been set up on either side of the staircase next to where he was.

(Two could play this game.)

"All the more better to see your plan ruined, then. And don't mind my 'ignorance'..."

Thanatos turns around as he smirks internally, charging energy in his arm.

"I'm just absorbed in my own world most of the time."

Thanatos fires a shot at the head to finish it off as he replies. To him, everything was mostly a game...

The very distinct sound of an elevator going down with a distinct crash prompts the jet-person to get ready his energy blades as he silently boosts over towards the elevator.

Of course, not before he sends out a single missile to cover the way forward in smoke. Not worth risking getting ambushed on the way there.

(Well, more potential fun to be had.)

Central Processing Or Wherever It Is They're Keeping the Mainframe

Nat wasn't exactly a fan of what had been happening today. The Gun For Hire was always paranoid, but invisible assholes had her jumping at every shadow and sound. Thankfully, she had the trigger discipline not to open fire with each startle, or there would likely be a lot more than just noises and shadows trailing her and Nova as they finally made it to their destination. "Alright, Nova, we made it to the center, just go ahead and get plugged in and see what you can find."

Novus 21st - Outpost LV-426, Vacu-Valoran Border

It was apparent that nothing would be done if Cowbry stayed where he was. His mind made up, he did as all infantrymen did since the dawn of time when faced with a conundrum.

"Copper Bishop to all points, en route to the comms tower," he radioed into the shared Guardian channel. He went at the double, moving from blindspot to blindspot on his way to the battleground.

"Anyone in need of assistance, sound off."

Shaft Party

Yoko sees the dust swirl, and reacts just in time. Grabbing the wall to brace herself, she swings out of the way of the tackle, and delivers a solid elbow to what is either the back of the head, or just the general spine area, of her assailant. She's not quite sure with the whole invisibility thing.

"This is Purple Bishop - contact in the elevator shaft, one confirmed, more possible. No assistance acquired as of this time."

Elevator Shaft

"UM!" Freddie's eyes bugged out as the bullets rained down towards him. His Huntsman training kicked in: FIND COVER. He was in an open elevator shaft, not an option. He shifted down to the next option: DOUBLE DOWN. You know, just like in debate.

Freddie yanked down on the cable and launched himself forward in a corkscrewing lunge straight up the shaft, dodging the bullets by twisting and bouncing off the walls to minimize his silhouette and turn hard impact into a bunch of grazes. Worse for wear but still kicking, Freddie planted his feet on one side of the shaft, kicked off it, and with the same force yanked the cable connecting to the bottom half of his maul to come soaring up to try to smash straight into the gunners.
