Kashira Lavellan - Gates - They Shall Not Pass

Again, a tiny piece of good news came with a mountain of bad. Or in this case, several mountains. From what little Kashira had gleaned of their nature from the chatter of her comrades, they might well be as destructive as an archdemon. And yet, now she knew where the rest of the defenders had been. All her doubts and fears were tamped down once again in the face of action.

"New plan, everyone!" she called out, making sure to speak over the device - 'radio,' it was called, strange that she should remember that now of all moments - as she hurried to get behind what little safety the walls could offer. "Baron, get that carriage in here and turn it sideways to block the gates! Everyone else, back behind the walls! Those things will run us down like dogs if we try to flee the way we came! Point company, find us a way to get Kane out of here without going through the gates or make one. If there isn't anything, see if you can get some of this place's defenses working again or find some weaponry we can use and get over here now! Everyone here, back inside the gates and hold the walls until we hear back! If they get in, we're all dead! This is where we fight!"

She had no magic capable of hitting at the ranges the oncoming machines could, that much was certain, but with another burst of green light, she renewed the barriers on those close to her. She had little confidence in their ability to withstand more than a single attack from the monstrous things, if that, but it was something.

Guts - Eyebrow raised

Picking his sword out of the snow, Guts found a throbbing sensation in his ear. This communicator was annoying as hell. And it took a second for him to realize that whoever was speaking now... wasn't a part of their team.

Without much warning, six giant armored carriers, with great cannons sticking out of each, roared their way out of the forest, at a distressing speed.

Redhead and fatty seemed pretty eager to take them on with a tank of their own, but having gotten used to the fact that he was dealing with technology beyond his own time, and considering the distance between him and his new targets, Guts wasn't so sure. Well, if they were so ready to lead the charge, the Black Swordsman would gladly take five and survey the scene, approximating how much of a threat these 'tanks' were, and maybe formulating some form of strategy.

Sheathing Dragonslayer, Guts took cover behind the walls of the camp as Kashira had suggested (it wasn't as though he was taking orders from her, she just happened to make the most sensible decisions that he agreed with). Before he peeked out from cover, he fiddled with his fake arm, seeming to load something into it. His flesh hand fished into the pack at his side, and out came a vial of black powder that he slowly emptied into his arm.

Claw, Nay

"Oh, you are taking the piss..." Of course this couldn't be too simple, so now it was not a single carriage, but six of them and each looked tougher and more menacing than the last one.

They had one of their own and one more somewhere behind, but the simple maths was against them. This was the situation with Aligels all over again, but it seemed unlikely they would be able to talk their way out of this one.

"You're out of your mind. Sure, let's do this." It wasn't like they had any other sensible opinion. "Alright, Miss Gaige, I'll bite. A quick rundown on what's good enough on these carriages and how does it look like?" Claw picked a pair of the machine pistols from the fallen conscripts, mostly to get some extra firepower, but this was likely not it yet. For now he shuffled under the wall, awaiting the rundown. At worst, he could perhaps fall back on the dynamite and his magic

Baron, Yay

"Baby, I ain't no Baron if I can't drive my ladies around, can I?" The resplendent magnificence of The Blacker Baron grinned at Tanya in response, though before they could make a splendid getaway, the plans changed. It looked like the reinforcements were in way faster than expected.

"Dat piddly lil' dumptruck ain't gonna be much of a blockade, baby, but whatever ya say." It was pretty sturdy, but those were some big tanks on the other side. "Ladies, if ya please get da icecube outta here, so he ain't blown up?" He asked his two extra passengers. "Oh, and Icequeen? Don't get so spaced out on moons and stuff."

Once they moved out, he moved the warminer accordingly, making sure to unload on the oncoming enemies with a couple of shots. If they didn't do anything, too bad. If they did, more power to 'em. Then, he made sure to park the carrier as ordered before bailing out and, incidentally, landing by Guts. "Havin' fun, brudda?" He grinned at the Black Swordsman, once again the starkest of contrasts against him.

Soviet Base

After a quick burst of speed, the tanks came to a rapid halt as they fired again, this time destroying a large chunk of the south-east wall with their barrage. As if to prove Gaige's point, despite still being nearly a kilometer from the base the impacts were able to knock large chunks of metal and concrete out of place and causing the debris to rain down on her tank, the Baron's truck, Toph, Kashira, Guts, Claw, and the others nearby.

The pair of APCs opened fire at the approaching missiles, shooting a burst of flak shots that caused them to explode in mid-air before they could reach their target.

The single shell fired by the Heavy hit the front of the Apocalypse Tank, the impact causing a small cavity to form on the armored glacis. The vehicle's turret began to slowly turn towards the source of the shot and the missiles....

The Kid - Oh shit

It seemed it was The Kid's lucky day. A quick search of the surrounding area turned up a decent haul of this place's odd weapons, easily spotted standing out against the cold powder covering the ground. They even had more of the odd clips the weapons used, enough for the young soldier to loot and keep for later. He found several new weapons as well, and made sure to grab at least two of each if not more.

And so, it was with an armful of guns, that the teen found himself staring across the base at the titanic machines. The Kid's eyes nearly bulged in shock when they tore through the trees and into the open area as the loudest weapons he had ever heard fired. He found himself stepping back involuntarily, a touch of fear beginning to grow in him. How could they face these? He had a feeling nothing he had would even slow the things, let alone damage them.

Turning, he steeled himself and ran for cover at the Baron's machine, taking the weapons with him. He ran up the ramp into the machine, and simply hopped for the best as the battle raged on outside.

With Nebby settled, Lillie turned back to her meal and listening to the plans the others were talking about. After a few moments, however, she looked back up at the other girl.

"...What's a 'chihuahua?'" she asked.

"Pew...." Nebby commented from its new spot back on the floor, with a rather plaintive tone.

As the Climbers busied themselves with hiding behind the wall or looking at the tanks, a man ran out of the barracks and sprinted towards the construction yard. What made this stand out even more was the fact that he was half-naked, as he was only wearing a pair of boxers in the cold night. Boxers, and a set of manacles that kept his hands tied together, while chains connected them to his legs.

What Even

"Of all the stupid things to do!" Not being able to repress the various curses welling up within my throat at the sheer stupidity of what had happened concerning a certain elf and the vehicle commandeering pimp, I could only vent before turning to the erstwhile companions nearby with a tired look on my face. "Alright, new plan. I use my magic to jump all of us away from the base at high speeds while you use your time dilation technique to speed up the process. The handling will be incredibly rough due to the sheer momentum but the mage barrier can alleviate the g-force to a certain extent."

Giving Weiss my honest explanation of the only way we could feasibly transport the target away from the tanks in time, I took hold of the Elinium Type-5 computation orb with a look of distaste. It wasn't something I wanted to do but there was no other recourse as of this moment in time. "MAKE HASTE, O GOD, TO DELIVER ME; MAKE HASTE TO HELP ME, O LORD." Mana levels skyrocketing, I gritted my mouth and felt the very thoughts in my head warping like always- repressing the urge to mentally praise HIM with great impunity.

"Grab hold and bind yourself to me securely or else you'll be flung away." Waiting for the two of them to do as instructed, I placed my hand on the giant ice cube then flung our little group off in the exact opposite direction of where the noise in question was coming from. Like being shot out of a cannon was the feeling really, as opposed to regular zero-gravity like levitation field personally used. Already I could see the top of trees and taste the chill winds ruffle my clothes.

Zazy (Base)-The Messiah lives

The next minutes passed quickly. The male among the group proved stronger then expected as he managed to list the ice with little trouble. I followed silently, my input not needed as one of these motorized horses pulled up to the van to pick us up. I was about to get in when suddenly word reached us of reinforcements. Argument ensued as to how to respond, whenever fighting or fleeing was the better option, which was answered when one of the metal horses launched a fireball that destroyed a good chunk of a wall.

While I consider myself a stoic man, I could not help but be mildly enraged by the act of stupidity that was the woman demanding the motorized horse about to be used to transport their leader abandon its mission and sit in front of a gate, an act even I, unfamiliar as I was with this "technology" could see was pointless. And so I reached for the radio.

"Fool woman, cease your idiocy at once, that thing will not even be a stepping stone to these monstrosities! Move that thing back here and pick up the enemy leader now! I will forge a copy of him to distract them as you ready a counterattack. Fire near him as he leaves to maintain the illusion we are still attempting to kill him, but do not strike the copy directly, least the ploy fail."

With this said, I reached again into the depths of my power to forge another copy, this time in the likeness of Kane. lifting my hand, I caused him to arise behind a wall, and imparted a very basic set of instructions. A mere second was all this took, as it was simplicity itself. He turned and walked out of one of the holes in the base, walking at a normal pace, seemingly unconcerned with the fighting around him, and as he caught sight of his reinforcements, he would raise both of his hands up into the air, in a pose fitting the sort of figure the man seemed deluded enough to believe himself.

Heavy - Trying a Different Spot

The giant snarled as he witness the tank in front of him had made a dent, but not enough to hamper it. Then, he thought of another spot to hit, namely the cannons. He aimed for them and fired. He paid no mind to the order to move the van to form a blockade against the smaller vehicles. If he did, he would consider it a big mistake to throw themselves into their path. But, the giant tank was the bigger priority.

Kashira Lavellan - Burdens of Command

Kashira had been fortunate enough once to see a Qunari dreadnought in battle without being its target. The sight was both awe-inspiring and terrifying. The enormous warship's oars swung in perfect unison, fairly ripping it through the water, and when it came within a certain distance of its target, there was a sound like thunder, but magnified tenfold, enormous columns of white smoke, and the opposing ship had simply...ceased to be, disintigrating into scraps of wood and canvas as the thunder continued to roar. As the debris from the shattered walls rained down upon her, Kashira knew, at every level of her being, that she had just made her first mistake in battle upon this world. And it might very well be her last and be the death of all those who had obeyed her, whether out of trust or simple convenience. Shit! Piss! Dammit! What kind of world has walls that can't hold off the siege weapons its soldiers use, at least for a little while? But there was no time for self-pity, they were still alive for now. If the walls were this breakable, they surely didn't need to worry about making their own way out, at least, so, time for a new plan. There was only one way this was going to end. The plan that one of the point company had proposed had merit.

"New plan! Baron, get out of there, now! Head back to the point company and pick them up, then break through the wall to the north! Everyone else, get on that carriage and go with him! If we move fast, we might be able to lose them in the night! Or is that wrong? Gaige, can these things see in the dark and if so, how far and how well? Also, move your...tank, is it? If you think you can really do some damage, get up here and I'll join you to add some barrier magic. We'll distract them and give the others time to run. If we can, we'll meet up with you later. Move!"

Leaving the safety of the wall, she sprinted towards Gaige's tank, wherever that might be in relation to her, with the intent of effecting a boarding.

Weiss Schnee-No hitchhikers in war

"Right, We need to focus on this mission," The huntress replied at the Baron's words of encouragement.

When they were left behind, Weiss face palmed when they were left behind. "Kashira, no offense, but we needed that truck to escape with Kane! How are we supposed to get out?! " she said through the radio, her voice not even hiding her annoyance.

After hearing Tanya's plan, she gave the major a silent nod. The huntress held her rapier with her two hands, focusing her semblance at Tanya. A golden shine would appear at Tanya's feet; A yellow a glyph in the shape of a clock would appear just below Tanya. If she looked down, she would be able to see the golden gears and the numbers of the glyph below. Time itself would bend around her as the blond soldier's speed would dramatically increase. When Tanya moved next she would seem like a blur to the naked eye.

Without saying a word, the huntress grabbed herself of Tanya. She sighed deeply with her eyes closed.

Sumireko, Future Girl's Techichi Reverie
"Huh? Never seen one before? Well, I think I can fix that." She reached into her pocket and took out her decidedly anachronistic iPhone, because naturally she'd have a picture sitting around in there.

After a few seconds of her swiping her finger on the screen, she said "Ah, here we are," and turned to show it to Lillie.

It was a picture of none other than Sumireko herself, posing with a tiny, mildly obese cream-and-brown colored dog-shaped-creature borne of Mexico. It was licking her on the face, and Sumireko's expression in the picture didn't seem particularly pleased.

"Yeah, that," she said as she pointed it out, in case Lillie got it mixed up with her. "The smallest breed of dog, and they're not from Japan. They're kinda rare there because of it." Distracted by the cuteness of the doggo, Sumireko's vigilance against causing temporal paradoxes waned. Now, time would unravel at the seams as she showed her dog pics.

That brute's shot didn't seem to do much of anything! Patches briefly wondered if the weapons of the future were actually weaker than ballistae, but came up with a better theory in short order: it's just enchanted against fire. "I don't think that did much," she called down to Gaige, "and they've shot down my arrows with their own guns. Does this thing go in reverse?"

As Kashira clambered onto the tank, the welcoming visage of Patches was there to greet her, popping his head out of the hatch. "Well, if isn't a friendly face! Not much room in here, but if you're going to ride, keep your head down!" With that, he shut the hatch, because he was getting a bit nippy.

The tanks took no action against the illusory Kane when he stepped out of the wall, likely not seeing him in the dark due to the destroyed power plant meaning all of the lights except the emergency lighting were out, as well as being several hundred meters away.

The same distance and darkness made it difficult to see the tanks aside from when they were firing, making precise hits with projectiles difficult and most attacks a miss. The Apocalypse tank's turret continued to turn, twisting it out of the way of the Heavy's shot and sending it into the trees behind it. Returning fire, the tank fired its twin barrels in the direction of Gaige's tank, the shots colliding with the wall before they could hit and showering down debris from the impact.

The other three tanks fired at the south-east Tesla Tower, causing the four-story-tall structure to start tilting over and debris to continue raining down on thos huddled behind the wall.

In the interior of the base, near the faint emergency lighting of the construction yard, the manacled half-naked man found a saw and was trying desperately to use it to break through one of the chains that were shackling his limbs together.

"Is that so?" Asgore asked in response to Sumireko's rebuttal of his suggestion. "Hmm... That is a shame, but I suppose we can make do without it,"

With that in mind though, it did seem like they had been at that inn for quite a long time now and didn't actually get anything done so far. He didn't want to hurry anyone up, but at the same time he did want to make sure they could get everything they needed before the others finished their task.

"Well, are we ready to leave?" Asgore asked, with no hint of hurry in his voice.

Guts, It's Raining... Rocks

After his false hand clicked back into place, Guts had to hold back a groan as the Baron continued to accost him, even in the heat of war. When would this man stop? Or get the message that he was obviously, repeatedly getting too close to Guts for comfort?

"Define fun."

An explosion answered his question, an explosion from above. The swordsman only had a second to process that the wall above him had collapsed from some kind of force (likely from the cannons of that 'tank' thing) and that the pieces were coming down on him.

He leapt out of the way, making sure to land on his side and roll to a stop so as to accommodate the Dragonslayer on his back. As he stared at the hostiles ahead of him, he found that the 'tanks' were rather well hidden in the darkness of the night. A shot from here wouldn't be particularly effective, he grumbled.

Something else caught his eye. Someone emerging from another part of the base. Someone who was obviously shackled and trying to escape.

Huh.

Guts figured, at this point, everything about their mission was going to shit, and the escaping prisoner could be some sort of wild card, an x-factor.

Leaving the Baron, again, he distanced himself from the rest of the fighting. Dark cape billowing around him, camouflaging him in the night, he rushed towards his target; the strange prisoner in his underwear, who would soon find a knife hovering next to his ear.

Qrow, meanwhile, had followed his own advise and retreated inside the base. Neither his scythe nor his shotgun were really up to the challenge of tanks.

Which was why he found himself entering the barracks, in an effort to find some explosives.

Soviet Base

Near the Construction Yard

"I give up!" the man said to Guts, instantly dropping the saw and looking straight ahead - not even attempting to risk a false move by trying to look back at the swordsman. "But if you think I'm going to lug that fucking thing around one more time, just kill me now. Kane can fight his own war, and the motherland can eat shit."

Barracks

Despite the size of the building, the barracks was a cramped and depressing building. Qrow could see that hundreds of tightly-packed empty cots were stacked up against the walls all the way up to the ceiling, with barely enough room for a person to fit in between the wafer-thin mattress and the wood of the bunk above it.

In one section of the building was a small arsenal - undoubtedly the reserve weaponry meant for soldiers to use in an emergency in the event they didn't have the time to reach the base's armory. It had pistols, machine pistols, assault rifles, and several large shoulder-mounted flak cannons - as indicated by the labels on the sides used for organizing the weaponry. The flak cannons resembled a cross between a cannon and a rocket launcher, though it was easily over a hundred pounds, with the front of the weapon having a massive "shield" in front to both steady the weapon and protect the user, as well as a red hammer and sickle painted on it. In another section were a dozen stations that resembled a cross between a wardrobe and a set of mechanical arms, and while nine of them were empty, three of them contained a full set of the Tesla Armor that the heavier troopers from earlier had been using.

In the back of the barracks were more cots, although these ones were behind locked bars. Inside of the cell were a dozen big bulky men wearing nothing but boxers and manacles. They were desperately trying to shove their way through a slight separation between two of the bars towards the ceiling, though its height made it difficult, as did their constant fighting over who had the right to try escaping.

The Kid - Going for a ride

The Kid looked at the collection of weapons in his arms, then at Tanya. He pondered the situation for a moment, before shrugging and stepping up. He wrapped a single solid arm around the small girl, and clutched the weapons to him with his other.

When they shot into the air, the young soldier was reminded of the feeling when stepping onto the Skyway initially, and found he had little issue keeping hold of his acquisitions.

Guts - Near the Construction Yard

When the man spoke of 'lugging something around', Guts smirked. Bingo.

"Kill you? Don't throw your life away just like that. I still got a use for you."

Wrapping his metal left arm around the prisoner in a chokehold, he dragged him to the nearest cover he could find, keeping it between him and the tanks ahead. Once they were safe, he loosened his grip on the man's neck, but kept him at knife-point, teasing his ear with it.

"We're here to take Kane's head. And I got some kind of hunch that you're important, if he's keeping you prisoner."

He then drew the knife away, but kept it in his hand in case the prisoner tried anything funny.

"C'mon, you want him dead too, don't you?"

Crash Landing

"Attention all passengers, this is your captain speaking. Please buckle up and prepare for landing since we are about to make contact ground-side right about... now. Air Degtyaryov would like to wish you all a wonderful evening." Speaking almost nonchalantly despite the sheer speeds we were whistling through the airs at, I glanced down and minutely made adjustments even as the earth rapidly swelled up as our little bundle smashed towards the cold and hard ground.

Still, mage barriers were made to withstand a lot of punishment and as a result we would be kept in one piece despite the jolting. Sadly, due to using most of the computation on sheer kinetic motion in a single direction to hop on over the walls to a goodly distance outside the west gate, there wasn't anything I could do to ground us all so we were set a tumbling and bouncing as the rounded shields preventing all our messy deaths (well, only me since these people were built quite a bit more sturdy than I was) skipped a few dozen feet per bounce before slowly rolling to a stop after being stopped by a particularly sturdy tree.

Quite frankly my innards felt as though they had been tied into knots and clenched repeatedly, leading to a particularly queasy feeling and overall loss of balance as the world spun. "Gurk." Before I even knew it, a layer of powdered snow covered was pressed against a cheek, my person having toppled to the side as of this moment in time, arms splayed outwards as though wanting to embrace Mother Earth. Truly lamentable and embarrassing this helpless position, but nothing could be done until faculties were to be regained.

Baron

"C'mon, baby, ya gotta make up ya muddafuckin' mind in a situation like dis." Oh well, no harm done. People were kind of panicky about this and he was pretty sure that Major Kiddo went flying together with Ice Queen and some other schmuck, but it didn't seem like the tanks out there were too accurate. He shrugged off the few pieces of debris stuck in his fur collar and commandeered his ride again. "Y'all better get da fuck outta dere, playas!" The fight with the tanks was kind of a fruitless endeavour and even someone as fight-loving as The Blacker Baron had to learn how to pick his battles quick to live to his age.

The warminer rumbled to life. "Got a spot or two in dis muddafucka!" He called to others still hugging the walls and then rolled towards the Northern wall, hoping anyone felt gracious enough to grab the invite. "Gaige, sistah, spare me some of dat ammunition for a shot to da northern wall?" He called to another pilot. The current plan was to roll out, smash the wall down with his mining thingamajig (hopefully with Gaige's help) and reconvene with Tanya and her squad, and then probably grumble at Kashira's dumb tactics he was a part of. Oh well.

Claw, Done

Ah, this was all going down to the dogs.

Claw cursed, just barely avoiding a larger piece of debris from falling on his head. Damnit, this was proving troublesome and troublesome some more by the minute. Kashira's tactic proved ineffective, their carriage's shots proved to be more of a nuisance than anything to the enemy and he was running out of ideas what to do not just to survive, but to make himself useful.

The idiot in golden vestments has just took off in his carriage and Kashira made her way to the tank. Well, perhaps something of note could be found where the tank had come from. He moved swiftly, not bothering to try and fire at the tanks with anything on him. That would just be wasting his ammo.

Once in the war factory, Claw's attention was immediately brought by the massive contraption floating lazily in the air. He raised an eyebrow as he regarded the sheer size of this beast, larger than even the most impressive ships-of-the-line. Yet, despite the strange windmills, even stranger mechanisms... he had a hunch that this was indeed a ship that could be controlled. On his own he was likely only to pilot it and not much else, but at the very least that could provide a distraction while others got their bearings.

Getting inside the airship - Claw decided the name most definitely fits - was easy enough and he was even greeted with a steering wheel not unlike that of a sea vessel. The pirate touched the steer, a small smile growing on his face. The rest was proving more alien, but if given a little bit of time, he could conceivably get this thing moving...

"Cyka bly.... Yes! Yes! Kill Kane! I'm extremely important!" the soldier said to Guts. "Please, take me with you!"

Kirov Gondola

Despite centuries of technological advancements, the controls in the airship's gondola were more-or-less something Claw could figure out. It was also surprisingly roomy, with room for plenty of people. Just like a ship back home. If said ships also had extensive sensors arrays, camera feeds, communications systems, and computer displays. And perhaps a bit slower, due to the extensive armoring.

The systems and displays included a large radar, as well as a large screen for a bomb operator, although the screen currently stated "BOMB BAY EMPTY".

There were also a few added controls for adjusting the height of the airship by controlling the velocity of the four enormous helicopter blades fixed along its sides.
