I'm pretty sure Yome actually messed up a bit with the phrasing/timing there

I sure hope so.

...Oh dear.

Yeah, I fucked up there; that was meant to be generally directed and not aimed at any one person who'd signed up so far (I've edited it to make that clearer for anyone reading it after the fact). If I offended you there, I greatly apologize.

Wise men learn from the mistakes of others, people. Don't follow my example here.

Anyway. Yeah, not being able to summon living things sounds suitable enough (Cthulhu was just an example; substitute it for any suitable powerful monster and you'll get the same idea). I'd also add the additional restriction that she can't summon anything really complex (so no humongous mecha or black holes).

Add those or a similar restriction, and Xiu will be accepted.

Sure, that's totally reasonable. And don't worry about it too much. Since it seems like it really was just a misunderstanding, I'm not upset or anything. I'm glad that's all it wound up being.

I edited my sheet with those restrictions, in addition to limiting the size of what she can summon, as well. No dropping buildings on people or anything like that.

One can never have enough magical girls, so why not? XD

  • Name: Renka Hoshigane
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: "Fueeeeeeeeeeeeee..." (Untransformed) "Yes... Let the Darkness flow through you..." (Transformed)
  • Personality: In her normal civilian guise, Renka could be easily seen a bit of a light ditz and a bit of an airhead, though she's by no means unintelligent. Normally going by her own pace, she can easily get into trouble socially by being blunt and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. She also has a bit of a penchant for hammy acting when in costume and thus acts quite a bit more charismatic and engaging than her standard reactionary personality out of costume. Generally a really friendly individual.
  • Powers: Dark General Powers, Dress Up! Her ability dresses her up in a military looking dress uniform that's much more reminiscent of the villains from Magical Girl shows rather than the heroines themselves, complete with ceremonial sword at the hip. With all the skin covered by the reinforced costume, she can utilize it as a sort ablative armor to tank things like bullets and magic attacks for her though she can still feel pain from being hit. Enough damage done to the clothes would break the outer layers entirely and she'd be a lot more vulnerable at that point. When given enough time, her clothes can regenerate back to normal. She tends to act like a stereotypical magical girl villain with the flourishes, speeches, and so on even if she does good deeds.
    • Dark General CQC- A self-made fighting style created through cobbling regular self defense techniques together with flashy video game fighting moves. made possible by superhuman physical abilities. It is empowered by Dark General Power (just magic) and it lets her perform bootleg versions of fancy attacks she's seen from media such as Street Fighter's Hadoken/Shoryuken and King of Fighter's Maiden Masher. A basic but solid style that relies on combos and juggling to keep the momentum going before aiming for a big 'finishing move'. Generally good for close to mid range combat, accuracy and power severely decreases in far range. Dark General Powers are used to empower the fist, feet, and sword as a sort of reinforcement and can be exploded or launched as projectiles.
    • Dark Reinforcements- Sacrificing her superhuman close combat ability to create a group of ten much weaker but still physically capable "Mook" puppets that all look like people wearing one of those dark full body suits with the stylized skeleton patterns painted on while also being equipped with a stylized belt and a red cowboy scarf, Dark Reinforcements are used as a diversionary tactic or to scout out difficult situations that the Dark General doesn't really want to experience first hand. They are all only four feet tall and prone to making buffoons out of themselves by repeating the word "Mook!" over and over again while assuming Henshin poses. All of them are unarmed save for a single combat knife attached to their belts, though they can just as easily pick up outside forces to use. The less Mooks there are in existence, the stronger the remaining ones get and the sole surviving Mook would be 75 percent as strong as the Dark General and without any of her other spiffy abilities other than physical reinforcement. Renka can see through their eyes and controls their bodies, usually after hiding herself in a place where people would be hard-pressed to find her. They last around ten minutes and are pretty easy to kill since they lack ablative armor, though they can cause trouble if they can gang up on a single target.
    • Dark General's Ceremonial Sword- A saber used to cut things up pretty good. The blade is magical in that it doesn't need to be cleaned and blood/other suspect bodily fluids would just fly off the blade. Preternaturally sharp and sturdy, though it could be broken. Can regenerate itself just like the Dark General's Dress Uniform.
    • Hammy Acting- The girl is really good at acting and so hypnotizes herself into acting like a completely different person when dressing up, making it hard for people to connect the two together. Suave and charismatic, with an emphasis for theatrical arm movements, long-winded speeches, and cape flourishing. Acts like a stereotypical gentleman bishonen villain from Japanese media such as Char Aznable or the Shittennou from Sailor Moon. Also helps that when in character, her coloring changes in the eye, skin, and hair department atop of the regular identity obscuring spells most magical girls have. Also despite acting masculine, she's still a girl underneath her clothes and method acting. Drama Classes helped out a bunch for this.
  • Backstory: Renka is a foreign exchange student from Japan, though she's in the process of applying for a visa and full American citizenship. Due to cultural misunderstandings and general wacky hijinks, she's somewhat well known in school and is described as "Anime Girl" due to her acting like a couple of stereotypes from the media genre. Not the best student but she doesn't have trouble passing her classes comfortably. Renka has a wide range of interests due to her being a bit of an otaku, most notably acting since she wants to become a prolific voice actor when she grows up and to a lesser extent cooking and martial arts since those talents aren't really known by most people outside of her immediate family.

@DoctorThunder: Sounds good to me. Consider Xiu accepted now.

@Caitlyn: The only thing I'd add is allowing for Beckon to be resisted, but other than that I'm not seeing anything objectionable here. So she's accepted.

@Renka: I'm not seeing anything worth objecting to here, so Renka is also accepted.

@General Things: I realize now that I probably should have specified that your characters shouldn't be gaining any artifacts or whatever they didn't have before (though summoning a weapon as part of their powers would have been fine). However, it's a bit late to go back on that decision now; I can just say that your characters gained those items when they gain their powers.

Going off that, I think I'll allow familiars under a similar logic. However, there's some restrictions to this: they aren't allowed to know anything your character doesn't (apart from how to use their abilities), and as they're not allowed to wander away from their masters without poofing out and needing to be re summoned.

  • Name: Sophia Cetus
  • Age: 13
  • Appearance: Has shoulder-length black hair with a poorly-dyed blue streak that she obviously did herself. Teal eyes. Tan skin. Prefers to wear light clothing. When transformed, has a soft black cape with blue trimmings, wears a slightly above knee length indigo skirt that inexplicably resists any chance of flashing. The top of her transformed costume is white with a low, flat neckline and thin straps hidden under the cape. A tiny red scarf is fastened around her neck.
  • Personality: Very book smart and curious, but not very emotive and not entirely there. Likes to amuse herself, in particular enjoying any excuse to use her powers for Mundane Utilities or to make things for her to stare at. Always seems to be fidgeting for some reason, even she doesn't know why.
  • Powers: Making a Splash, with the limitation that she can't manipulate more than her weight in water. It also takes effort for her to retain anything inside it or suck it out of objects.
  • Backstory: Born to a family of medical practitioners. Moved to the city with her family at the age of 6. Didn't really connect with people. Not much else to say.

Grim reaper girl is go.

  • Name: Morticia "Mori" Grimmsby
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: A pale, lanky girl, with bags under her dark eyes despite sleeping a lot, and long black hair. Usually wears loose fitting clothes and avoids shoes where possible.
    • When transformed, she takes the appearance of the grim reaper, wearing a dark cloak that covers her from head to toe and wielding a wicked scythe.
  • Personality: Silent as the grave, but not shy. Mori is mostly just... there. She'll occasionally chip in to conversations, regardless of if she was part of them, but mostly she likes to people watch. Her voice is always quiet, almost a whisper. She's not easily bothered, embarrassed, or afraid – not to say she's brave, she simply doesn't react at all. Bugs, darkness, blood, even death doesn't faze her. Also really likes sweets, but never seems to put on weight. Metabolism's weird like that.
  • Powers:
    • Death's Shroud: Her cloak allows her to walk on water and air alike, unaffected by gravity. She can levitate as fast as she's normally able run, though it doesn't tire her out as much. The cloak also enables her to become intangible. She can phase through most things without issue, but she can still be attacked. Her intangible state reduces the damage she takes, but doesn't stop it altogether, and she still feels the same amount of pain.
    • Wretch, the Jagged Bones: Her scythe which is made of, well, bones. It's absurdly sharp, though not actually a practical weapon for melee combat, being slow and unwieldy. Mori generally saves it for a finishing blow. It's real power is to create and control bones, summoning them from the ground as though conjuring the dead. Mori can raise bony hands from the ground to grab at foes, shoot sharp animal teeth as a projectile attack, or even make a shield of skulls. Generally, though, the more bones she pulls the more tired she gets. It cannot manipulate the bones of the living.
  • Backstory: Her parents died when she was young. Raised by a distant, uncaring uncle, she taught herself many things and grew up with no real maternal figure. Her and her uncle never even spoke, preferring to quietly eat dinner together before her uncle retired. She brought a stray cat home one day. The black cat, which she named Fin, still follows her around when she's not at school.
  • Other: Is the world's greatest detective. May slightly be inspired by Death Note, hence the genderswapped L pic. I regret nothing. tongue

I thought about bringing Anita Moreno back, but I think by this point, she's too tied to the whole Heaven vs. Hell thing. So here's who I'll play instead...

  • Name: Ally Savage
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance:
    • Normal: 5'5", with a slim build, light brown hair down to her chest, which she usually wears in twin braids, and blue eyes. French-Canadian ancestry. Typically wears graphic T-shirts, jeans, and low-cut black Chuck Taylors. Never puts make-up on unless she absolutely has to.
    • Transformed: Outfit consists of a midriff-baring white tank top, a loose red necktie, a diagonal grey sling backpack with faded spray paint stains in various colors, baggy low-rise camo jeans, black Reebok sneakers, a gas mask that covers the mouth and nose, and a Houston Rockets snapback worn backwards over a red bandana. If her hair isn't already down before she transforms, any braids or knots it's in come undone. Thick black eyeliner appears to further hide her identity.
  • Personality: Ally has the determination of a Terminator and the energy of a woodpecker on cocaine. Once she sets her mind to something, nothing on Earth can stop her from accomplishing it. That said, when she doesn't have a goal, that energy tends to get channeled into either jamming out to pop punk or acts of impulsive mischief.
  • Powers:
    • What, Like That Hurts?: While transformed, Ally can withstand any climate, hot or cold, with no problems, as well as come away from bone-shattering hits with no injury, even if they hurt like hell. Bullets still bruise her, and something like getting hit by a train would still kill her.
    • Hops Like Steve Francis: Ally can jump five stories into the air and climb practically any building if there's something for her to grab onto. To go with this, she's much more resistant to damage from falling than an ordinary human.
    • Fists of Fire: Ally can throw flaming punches capable of sending a normal human clear across a room. However, if she wants to do that, she has to spend a couple of seconds winding it up.
    • Savage Paint: Ally's backpack contains two each of several types of spray cans, each of which provides her with different abilities. The cans come with a set amount of paint, and once they run out, they can't be refilled unless Ally returns to normal and then powers up again. They don't have any perceptible weight to them, so despite how many of them there are, they don't weigh her down. The cans each have a unique sticker on the outside to make them easy to distinguish. These consist of...
      • Biohazard: Sprays a green corrosive mist. Ally prefers to use this on locks and such; if she uses it on a person, the results are messy.
      • Camo: Whoever Ally sprays this on turns invisible. The effect wears off after the person sprayed either makes an attack or takes one themselves.
      • Flame: Essentially, it's a flamethrower in a can.
      • Shield: A blue paint that, when sprayed on a surface around an object, creates a force field that attacks from outside can't penetrate. The shield wears down as it blocks attacks, until finally it breaks and the paint vaporizes.
      • Snowflake: A freezing spray.
      • Stratocaster: Makes a red Fender Stratocaster appear. It can then be picked up and used as a weapon.
      • Stop Sign: Sprays a red mist that hits with the force of a baseball bat.
  • Backstory: Allison Bernier never really felt fulfilled in her hometown. She knew she wanted to be a street artist, but in a boring small town outside Houston, Texas where the appearance of a single word of graffiti was an outrage, that wasn't really possible. Her parents were wealthy and generously shared that wealth with her, but they were rarely around. At age 14, she got on a bus to Los Angeles and followed her dream of being the next Banksy, taking on the name Ally Savage.
    • After two years living in Downtown L.A., Ally had made a name for herself—not to mention a steady income taking commissions for murals—with her creative artwork and speed-tagging. Once she had a design in mind, she could spray her art in half the time it would take most of her peers.
    • That ability drew the attention of a band from Quebec City called Redstar, who wanted her to help them do something that was half-concert, half-flash mob. To promote their new album, they planned to stop traffic in a busy intersection in an American city and play a song on top of the cars. Ally's proposed role in all this was to design the posters and spray the band's logo where their van would stop in order to halt traffic. This sounded like doing the premise of her favorite music video in real life, so naturally, Ally accepted and came to Newbury to partake in the stunt.
  • Other: Theme song: "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne

Ah, so those are allowed now... hmm... the familiar I was planning would have been the pet fox already there, the plan was that he was somehow in the vicinity when Maike gained her powers which also gave him some, in his case: if he's near (lets say 5 meters give or take) Maike he would have gained the ability to talk... aaand that's pretty much it, if he strays farther then those 5 meters he gets a normal fox again. I thought that he'd may be some sort of counselor for when things go haywire. Would that be acceptable?

[up]That should be fine, yes.

@Sophia: Not seeing anything to object to here, so she's accepted.

@Morticia: Again, I'm not seeing anything objectionable here. Also accepted.

@Ally: Her ability to not take damage from really powerful blows kind of skirts the "no invincibility" rule. I'd be a little happier if you'd make it so that she'd still feel the pain from such blows or something similar.

She otherwise looks acceptable to me, so address that in some kind of manner and Ally will be accepted.

Name: Charlotte "Lotte" Cole

Age: 13

Appearance: Charlotte isn't the prototypical magical girl. For one thing, she's black. She keeps her black hair cut in a ponytail, and usually wears eye-poppingly bright tops and skirts. When transformed, she gets a blue skirt with a white top, a white cape, and a magic bow for a weapon.

Personality: Charlotte is, in a word, scatterbrained. She's not stupid, it's just that she can't focus on anything for more than two seconds. She also has a high tendency to snark off.

Powers: Charlotte's powers are all themed around the element of air.

Gust Shot- Her basic attack is a sharp gust of wind

Vortex Blast-An upgraded version of Gust Shot, Charlotte concentrates all the air in an area between her hands while bracing herself before releasing it in a devastating blast. Requires about ten seconds to charge, is very draining, and collateral damage isn't an 'if' but a 'how much'

Aerial Arrow- Charlotte conjures a blue arrow of solid air on her bowstring and fires. It can be dodged, but her aim's pretty good.

Aerial Arrow Annihilation- An upgraded version of Aerial Arrow, Charlotte fires straight up, the arrow splits into a dozen copies for an area-of-effect attack. Downside? Like Vortex Blast, it takes a ton out of her.

Wind Wall- Her only defensive power, Charlotte creates a screen of wind to protect herself from attacks, but it's only really effective against physical projectiles. Non-physical and melee attacks shred it with little effort.

Flight- Like any self-respecting air-themed magical girl, Charlotte can fly. In her case, she sits on her bow and uses it like a glider. How does she balance herself on the string? Don't ask.

Enhanced Toughness- Not really a superpower, but Charlotte's durability is pushed up near the peak of human levels. Think NFL linebacker or UFC champ.

In short, she's very dangerous, but a glass cannon by superhero standards.

Bio: Not all that much to tell, here. Lived in town all her life with her mom, dad, and little sister Samantha. Pretty much unremarkable. Career goal: Writing the Next Great American Novel. (I was thinking she could be a random passerby who gets caught up in the event.)

Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!

  • Name: Magna Kyrre
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance: Kneel.
  • Personality: Haughty and overbearing, the type of person that straightforwardedly proclaims the superiority of her status as highborn. She acts like she fell right out of the 18th century and had a correspondingly decadent attitude towards life. Her childhood education is superb, a sort of high society etiquette and eloquence in contrast to earthly wisdom or practical cunning. She is kind to those she regards as her retinue, full of noblesse oblige, and good in nature, if not neccesary pleasant. She has bad compatibility with people who tries to exert authorithy over her. Her strength of character is high, so it can be said that she actually have a high SAN rating, surprisingly.
  • Powers:
    • Treasury - Her magic is extradimensional storage space. She can seal inanimate object than her torso in extradimensional space. Not only does this helps a lot with keeping her house tidy (she has a bit of a hoarders tendency), it can be violently ejected at high velocity agaisnt her enemies, as well as things that are stored slightly out of her reach. Her throne is actually exempt from this restriction, greatly adding to the level of comfy in her day to day life. Due to difficulty in securing suitable aerodynamic projectiles, she usually fires tent pegs or knives.
    • Enchanced Strength - Despite her seeming sophistication, she's actually a bit of a brute. There is pretty much zero grace, elegance or skill in her fighting style. While reminescene of a schoolyard brawl than anything, superstrength is still just that - super.
    • She has two familliar, Huginn and Muninn. Muninn is a charcoal black raven who perches on her wrist and grants her telepathy and the abillity to sic her bird on people. It goes for the eyes. Huginn is invisible and scouts for her. It also goes for the eyes. They both understands the human language and can talk, but sounds like Polly the Parrot. This undermines her image greatly, so she usually has them refrain. In a pinch, she can hold on to both of them for added mobility, letting them carry her, with obvious drawbacks.
  • Backstory: Rich girl born with a golden spoon in her mouth and an attitude three times too big for her britches. Technically a princess, she follows her family's centuries-old tradition of traveling the world to learn how the ordinary 9-to-5 folks live their lives. Renting a room above an antique book shop that faces the threat of buyout and conversion to an Apple store, her wacky Rom-Com/Young Adult story of a life was rudely interrupted by a Groundhog Daysian one.
  • Other: She is incredibly, ludicrously, hideously rich. She isn't the type to do cheesy things that break the narrative like, say, hire a team of mercenary to lock down the entire city. It's a fluffy cosmetic thing. If this isn't cool with you, her wealth could be inaccessible due to magic whammy.

  • Name: Verity Harper
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance:
    • Normal: a rare(or perhaps not so rare) moment of tranquility
    • Transformation: When she transforms she gains the appearance of a modernized, yet still classic, version of a bard. She dons a wide-brimmed red hat with a white band, a colour shifting feather stuck by the right part of the hat the left side of the brim pinned to the side of the hat, revealing a light cream coloured underside. On her upper body she wears an open red leather with a popped collar and four big golden buttons on the left side. Below it a white button up shirt with black buttons and a red flat tipped tie over it. On her lower body she has a pair of chequered white and red parachute pants with a wide belt and a big golden belt buckle. a pair of small portable boxy speakers are clipped to the belt situated over the crests of her hips. Finally she has a pair of brown boots with the tips pointed upwards.
  • Personality: Verity is loud, energetic, highly expressive, friendly and only a tad bossy. When she's around life is a holiday, she strives to put everyone at ease, to make it so everybody can feel good and fun with her festive ways. She's boisterous, "world's greatest host" and "Veri the Rock Star" she calls herself. In a way the air she generates may ring shallow to some, after all as long as you seem to be happy she'll be content, but it isn't out of shallowness or disinterest. Its just that she often doesn't have enough time to delve into anything more profound because she's doing 5 other thing and bouncing between people in the crowd. However if you limit her to a couple of people she's probably the world most comprehensive listener, at least she says so herself. Its just that she's kind of overzealous at times and thinks she helps more by helping more people. This however is just her public persona, not in a way that its a lie but a genuine performance, she's just an introvert that learned to socialize and exercises that skill on her own terms with gusto out of a deep fear of being alone. If you catch her on her 'off days' she's quiet, calm and easygoing, like a warm gas lamp instead of a technicolor floodlight.
  • Powers: the general idea was making a flamboyant "support-type" Magical girl
    • Electric Lute: This beauty is summoned when Verity transforms and serves as her main offensive weapon, as it is hardened to work as a mace. It has a recall function to teleport back in her hand if misplaced or knocked away. It also functions as her main channel to cast spells. While her spells will still work for her if the lute has been somehow destroyed they will be diminished.
    • Bardic Knock Spell: Its an enhancement for the next strike to connect against a foe, be it a punch, kick, elbow, swing or slash. It can also be endowed by touch to another person. it manifests as red wide straps wrapped over the hands, weapon(if any) and feet of the one endowed.
    • Sound Barrier: A pair of pulses of harsh sound from the amps she wears on her belts that generate enough force to knock away oncoming projectiles and push foes away.
    • Spotlight flame: A white bright flame will manifest on a foe in line of sight from Verity, the flame won't burn said foe, the flame will only serve as a marker and as a beacon for projectiles to hone into.
    • March of Charging Dragoons: A punkish battle anthem (Not unlike "Sons of Liberty" by Frank Turner or "Shipping Up to Boston" by the Dropkick Murphies) That allows for consecutive boosts in movement as long the song is played not only for Verity, but for nearby allies. The boosts will accelerate them to a top speed of 60km/h and sustain it, but it will take a few boosts to get them there. it manifests in those affected as a blueish glow in the lower legs and streaks of light following their feet
    • '"Dummy Lounge Band's Song'': a peppy and upbeat ska song (like the works of The Strike and Streetlight Manifest) it creates clones of the ones hearing the song at its beginning, said clones are controlled by Verity. The clones are meant to be decoys and while they can interact with the physical world, performing or taking anything more than good solid punch will pop them into a cloud of smoke and confetti. The song only maintains the clones and will not cause them to regenerate, for this to happen she'll have to restart the song.
    • Flame in the Storm: A slow warm folksy tune (as a reference "Song of the Ancients" in the Nie R Soundtrack) that serves not only as a mild healing spell but also an aid for morale, for those who hear the song while it plays. It will never heal them at a faster rate than they're wounded and the aid in morale will only take hold if they are receptive to it. It manifests as a soft ember-like glow over the heart of the ones in benefit.
    • Unkillable Starchasin' Thunderchrists: A power/speed metal ballad(much in the style of Dragon Force) that overclocks the reflexes, reaction time and overall agility and speed of Verity and allies near her as long as the song plays. It will push them to the human peak and not much more. It manifests as random blue-green tron lines on the limbs with glowing eyes of the same colour.
    • Cosmic Flowing Flowers: An electro-folk tune (Check the works of bands Wintergatan and Detektivbyran to get an idea) That makes a five petal lotus that looks as if it was made out of an abstract watercolour painting spring out of a random part of the Verity's body, same goes for nearby allies. The petals of the lotus can be torn out, turning into a ball of the same petal-y material at which point it can be tossed as a projectile, which bursts in contact in a coloured explosion. The song maintains the flower alive and regenerating, without it the lotus begins withering.
  • Backstory: Verity was born to Robert Killian and Mara Harper, a motivational speaker and a retired actress now acting teacher respectively. Her father left them due to dubious motives when Verity was really young. Her mother moved to Newbury and later remarried to one Alphonse Lent, a local handyman, mechanic and general odd-job guy. From then on Verity had a fairly normal upbringing within the clashing yet complimenting ways of her mother and her "cool" new dad. She was shy when young but 2 years ago she discovered a latent charisma and her own way of socializing, which made her bloom into the young girl she is today.
