I looked and didn't see a thread for this, which is a crime!

Trope Page.

Short prequel comic.

First page.

This satisfies my urge for a comic with a transgender protagonist. It satisfies it goooooooooood.

New page! Now if only someone else would actually post in this thread so I'd have some reassurance I'm not the only one reading this comic...

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.

it's been a while, but now (when page five, chapter fifteen has been posted), I just have to post and say —- I have a really bad feeling about this! D:

Oh, no, I've been following it for a while now!

I have a strong yikes feeling about this current argument! Like, this fight between Al and Brendan will go really badly — and that it will be the last conversation they ever have before Al's disease kills him.

Not to get overdramatic or anything, but I just have a feeling! What would be the worst possible way for this to go? Why, "Parting-Words Regret" of course!

Hey, they're patching things up- Whoops, my mistake, they're still arguing.

(Also, someone please post here so I don't have to keep double posting...)

Sorry, I'm just too horrified. We've never seen Brendan this angry... I'm pretty sure we haven't.

Maybe... Maybe the red flashbacks have actually been taking place in an alternate timeline where nobody dies and everything works out in the end and everyone's happy?

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.

Unfortunately, Vifetoile, that's a really safe bet. The beard was shaved immediately after coughing, which suggests that Al coughed up blood into his beard, and this fight has to be the last thing they do with each other for Brendan to have thought that Al committed suicide. Al should be dead in the morning. Also it's been mentioned that Al died in April, and that's this month, according to the calendar.

Thanks for bumping the thread, it was a fun read :)

Smurfton, you said that Brendan thought Al committed suicide? Could you provide the page number for that? Because that, well, that adds a new layer of awfulness to the situation. And in the light of this new scene... Brendan could think that Al drank something corrosive, hence the Blood from the Mouth.

It would have been that conversation between Al and Brendan that starts with "How did I die?" I'm looking for it.

iirc, Brendan's first thought was suicide until the hospital corrected him.

Edit: here it is. http://ohumanstar.com/comic/chapter-3-page-59/

Oh, man. This whole thing brought home to me just how painful it must be for Brendan (and obviously many real-life gay people) to be unable to even be honest in grief and need. It makes Brendan's statement to Al that he never told anyone about them even more... impressive? I'm impressed he kept it secret for so long.

I love fiction's capacity to awaken empathy.

[up] Glad we sorted that out.

Man, does Brendan look scared in the first panel or what? I guess it's supposed to be the shock of seeing Al all hooked up like that, or him realizing the enormity of what he's going to try to do.

With the transfer apparently failed, I wonder whether we're going to get an explanation that the missing bits were filled in, or even that the template was built from whole-cloth, based on observations and expert systems. Which would add yet another level to the Cloning Blues aspect in that they might not even be a copy of a human being, but rather someone created to fit the perceptions of another party. Imagine if you became how people saw you...
