Maybe it was a translation thing?
The Protomen enhanced my life.I see no reason they couldn't have at least kept Sakura/Syaoran, they had to tear out half the third season (plus give it a much more downbeat ending) for the sake of it. Since when is standard hetrosexual romance hated anyway, even in non-girl orientated western animation? And besides what did we get instead of it? CLIP SHOWS! Ooh yeah, boys love that waaaay more.
Just to note, I'm pretty the entire original series was dubbed for Cardcaptors (besides the three part finale being cut down into two) just heavily edited. It was certain networks airing the show that implied only the Syaoran focused episodes existed, otherwise it was made with the same progression the Japanese version had. You can probably find the dubbed versions of the Sakura-only episodes from Season One on Youtube.

Yeah, the episodes being put out of order was a thing with the broadcasting stations, not the dub company.
There's a huge difference between romance and glamorizing pedophilia.
Yeah, and they indiscriminately cut both.
That made it funny how Yue threatened to send Sakura to a version of the world where everyone had forgotten their loves, yet that was business as usual for the Nelvana dub already.
Right, so... Episode One.
Or how I fear I'm going to be left in the dust because I never got around to binge-watching the original.
I think at the very least we've got a good mysterious setup going on. Or at least for what the link between the robed figure, the dragon and the loss of the cards' power is.
Also I guess it's good to see that Tomoyo is still trying for her stalker merit badge◊.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I said it in the seasonal thread but I'll say it again. If they insist on Sakura/Syaoran being canon... they really need to give Tomoyo her own girlfriend.
I was actually interested in how they handled some of the secondary characters. Specifically Sakura and Tomoyo's classmates being broken up. Only amusing things can happen sticking Syaoran in the same class as Naoko and Yamazaki without Chiharu there to but the brakes on Yamazaki's more outrageous stories. Interestingly they also sent Rika to a different school, possible to avoid having to address the Terada-sensei issue.
All in all, excited to see where this is going.
Rika is gone because her voice actress passed away.
She was gone in the manga too, I think, or they just wouldn't bring it up.
The Clear Card anime is manga-based, too, right, so no 'Nothing/Hope' card?
The Protomen enhanced my life. It's hard to say. On one hand it might help to reduce the "Card of the Week" stories that could bog down the original anime. On the other hand the anime introduced some really good cards and had some fun original plots as well.
I mean CCS:CC is a sequel to the manga specifically, so i was wondering if the anime also followed the CC manga, like the manga-based Dragonball and Yu-Gi-Oh movies that came out two years ago.
...Also, does anyone know the plot yet? XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.probably something to do with collecting cards
Honestly, that doesn't even make sense to me. She already captured all the cards in the original story — that's why the original story ended, because she was done with the whole "card captor" thing (and then the Clow Cards -> Sakura Cards thing that came up as a result). So if it's a sequel, rather than just a remake, why are there suddenly more cards that need capturing?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. No clue. I'm behind on the manga version but the Sakura Cards got changed into Clear Cards for some reason. As far as the Clear Card arc anime goes though it seems to be a sequel to both the anime and the manga. I've seen mentions of the first episode referencing both the original anime's ending as well as the manga's ending which from what I've been lead to understand are mutually exclusive.
According to Wikipedia, "After having a prophetic dream about a mysterious cloaked figure, all of the Sakura Cards turn blank and are rendered completely powerless, thus starting Sakura's quest to find out what is wrong. In doing so, Sakura and her friends, along with her guardians and protectors Cerberus and Yue, discover and capture the transparent cards using a new and much stronger mystical key and incantation."
Apparently it's done well enough to give Clamp a Creator Recovery, since they'd lost a lot of money/fans beforehand.

The Protomen enhanced my life.As much as I like CCS, that seems like a kind of lazy plot retread to me. Let those poor cards rest in peace already! They've been Mac Guffins twice now.
Then again CLAMP plots are rarely what they seem at first glance, so... we'll see where this goes.
Someone better have an eye gouged out by the end of this.
Is that a Clamp tradition or something?
The Protomen enhanced my life. It's not CLAMP until someone loses an eye.
i. hear. a. sound.Well, watched the first episode. As I suspected, the plot is basically a mashup between the Clow Card and Sakura Card arcs of the original series. Something Mysterious™ happens to the cards, and they must unravel that mystery and "fix" the cards (like the Sakura Cards arc), but this takes the form of capturing all of them all over again (like the Clow Card arc). This isn't necessarily a bad thing, given that the first series was still really good, but it feels like a lazy way of getting a reboot without having to do all the boring work of establishing the characters and whatnot again.
Anyway, on to more important things. Mike From Portland◊ is hands-down the best character. I am convinced that the mysterious hooded figure in Sakura's dreams is actually Mike From Portland. This is my headcanon and you cannot take it from me. All hail Mike From Portland!
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. He likes sushi!
