Gwenpool, the Unbelievable [Marvel]

Well, Gwenpool, The Unbelievable #1 just dropped today, under the Marvel label. It's written by Chris Hastings, author of The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. Gwen Poole (note the clever mashup of Gwen Stacy and Deadpool) is a comic book fan who has somehow been transported into the Marvel universe, believes herself to be in a fictional world (with people reading about her exploits), and treats that world as if it were indeed fictional, with hilarious and occasionally frequently tragic consequences.

The tagline: "Could Gwenpool truly be Marvel's least responsible and least role-modely character to date? She can if she tries!"

I just read the first issue and it is quite promising, especially since Hastings has also been writing for Deadpool, as I understand.

I loved the money sign gag.

I read the debut issue, wasn't too bad, adorable artwork. I like how Modok is a loony toon but still super-serial

Gwen Stacy's master plan to clone an army to take over the universe continues.

What the hell was with that ending?

It was funny and enjoyable and I dig the hair, until THAT happened.

It's called Reality Ensues.

I dig the hair, though. Blonde and pink. Cute.

Loved the first issue, also for any interested Gwen Poole now has her own trope page.

I am somewhat confused as to how a teenage girl with no powers or credentials got her hands on all those guns to begin with...

She took lessons from Homura Akemi.

I like the series.

I must say, quite promising.

Cecil's not gonna stay dead for long, is he? Or is he her Uncle Ben?

Seems like Uncle Ben'ing to me. Although sure, there's always a possibility they'll pull the "lol nobody stays dead" trope for parody.

Considering the premise, it is likely that this incident won't have the effect of teaching Gwen to respect the reality of the world she's living in.

So the new issue has Gwen learning even more that this isn't a game, and why you shouldn't shout out secret identities.

Also, that the best plans are the simple bullshit ones.

And don't trust the science guy to kill the guy. It was a great plan until he fucked it up long enough for Thor to start pounding their faces in.

I really need to catch up on my Marvel comics. M.O.D.O.K. is a goodguy now? Could have fooled me.

No. He just isn't with aim anymore now that sunspot is running it. instead M.O.D.O.K. made M.O.D.O.K the Mercenary Organization Dedicated Only to Killing. Although he says he is a hero and they will only take out people who need to be taken out.

So female Thor do you like it or hate it? Gwenpool seems okay with her...

As long as she's worthy to wield Mjolnir...

I hate how Odin devolved into a rabid mra just to make Jane seem more heroic. And I hated Titania giving up a fight for girl power. but... eh she has some cool things but she hasn't done enough to justify herself to me.

I'm pretty OK with the guy who calls himself the Allfather having a less-than-enlightened view on feminism. Odin has a long history as an arrogant prick, so yeah, I can definitely see him objecting to a woman being Worthy when his son is not.

yeah he was a prick, but a prick to everyone who thought it was solely he who is better not everyone. seeing him be a raving mra in jane's book and a good parent in loki's was just odd.

but back to gwen herself, I do hope she keeps talking to poor cecil.
