"I would like to drink blood..."
"Monster!"
"... in a cup."
"Oh, of course dear. Would you like some marshmallows with that?"
Probably would not go this well.
Right. Mumei is the best thing about this series. The one who I want to see eat a humble pie is Kurusu. That guy is an ass.

Still better that
"I would like to drink some blood."
"Monster!"
"You know it's that red stuff that comes out of you, when you cut yourself."
Like "Blood for the Blood God" might actually have been better.
I thought that was hilarious of her, she's a smart alec and I love it.
I like how Mumei has more of an Eren-ish disposition than Ikoma, who seems more keen to avoid needless confrontation. It helps though that Mumei has the chops to back up her bravado.
Also I think one of the dudes is a British ex-pat; he has a wig/curls and speaks with a lot of English phrases.

That depends entirely on how her character goes tbh :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. And so ends the first arc it seems; there's a small coupe, Ikoma's friends are imprisoned alongside him and Mumei and an Elite Mook shows up to spoil the party. And so, its up to our hero to save the day and finally earn the trust of his comrades.
Not a bad introductory arc; we established who the main characters are, and got a look into some of their motivations. Now I'm curious on where this is going to go. And more importantly, if it lives up to its derivative, and follows Anyone Can Die >:D
Also...I kinda wanted Kurusu to be the one to offer Ikoma blood, just so I can fuel my yaoi fantasies and the following awkwardness of it.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yeah, this was a pretty good introduction arc. We got to know what's going on, and who's who and it ended with everyone finally getting on the same page.
Also, Ayame has a pressure bow. That's cool.
The biggest problem, is that the only death I felt sorry for was that young samurai. Everyone else I was like "serves you right assholes", and I'm guessing that's not what they were aiming for.
Eh I don't think they're trying to make you sorry for the deaths in this episode anyways, those people deserved what they got.

The Samurai dude was a true warrior until the end.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Rokkon Shojo motherfuckers
Gaijin engineer best background character
Mumei being bratty towards everyone is kind of endearing. She's powerful and she knows it.
Like I wouldn't be surprised if the shogunate is secretly Kabaneri and conducts research to further strengthen it. Legit new humanity vampires.
so i've marathoned every episode of the series that's available up to this point.
i like it. Ikoma's awesome. i can't wait to see more.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Does anyone know where you could find that dramatic song that's playing at the end of episode 1 where Ikoma's strangling himself? I can only find little snippets but it's soooo epic!
Okay... Can someone explain what exactly that "Black Smoke" thing is?.. Beyond being ridiculously-strong Kaiju-sized monstrosity that is.

This is an original work, so it's not like we can give you info from the original novels or anything. Basically, it is something new that we need to wait for an explanation of in the next episode.
What's precedent ever done for us?True, but perhaps I had just missed some detail that hints at the explanation/explains this entity?

I just thought it was a bunch of Kabanero horded together; but yea, there's no actual explanation for what the hell it is.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Maybe it's like the Wazatori? A Kabane that got really powerful after living for so long?
The whole episode in a nutshell: Mumei messing everything up, but I still freaking love her.
Episode title: Mumei fucks everything up for everyone
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm not sure that she did, though. The build-up of the number of Kabane to create the ... whatever that is ... would likely have happened wherever the humans went. And if she'd stopped fighting after Ikoma arrived, or if Ikoma had focused on unblocking the train tracks, then it's very likely that when the Black Cloud erupted, the blockade would have landed not in front of the train but on it. Inadvertently, she may have prevented that.
She alerted the Kabane early. That gave them enough time for the black mist to form and for shit to go utterly sideways. If they'd stuck to Ikoma's plan, they could have been out and running for the hills by the time the big smoky guy went for them.
What's precedent ever done for us?That's another valid interpretation.
Well I don't think they anticipated all the Kabane at the bottom, so that could've been an obstacle with or without Mumei's interference. I could be wrong though, I may have to watch the episode again to understand it all.
Things would have gone a bit more smoother had she not decided to Leeroy Jenkins her way in; even after the other Kabane showed up from the bottom, had she gone back to the train like Ikoma said, they could have probably escaped.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
You say that like that's a thing we want to happen.
