Well there will be like two or three aliens that will be on the strike team too, plus the ones working with Saw on Jeddha that will likely be dead soon after we see them.

Sounds like Wil Wheaton loved it.

Other reactions from twitter also just as positive. I'm stoked.

I gotta say, I was somewhat cynical about this film not that long ago, but I'm starting to get pretty excited.

One point of concern for me that remains is that the trailers have yet to really sell me on Jyn as a protagonist. But I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen the movie, naturally.

I've seen a few clips on You Tube and it seems more like Jyn tries to be more a Chaotic Neutral, refusing to cooperate with either the Empire or the Rebels and is, at first, brought onto the mission under duress until she sees how bad the Empire is and how much it needs to be taken down.

I'm not sure how well the role of Chaotic Neutral works for a main character. If not played well, we end up wondering "why are we rooting for this person who doesn't like or care about anything" for a solid hour before the character starts warming up.

That's not a prediction for Jyn, for the record, just my view of a trope. I still dunno what to think of the movie. For that matter, though, I still haven't been sold on Jyn.

but HOW?

I think I'll like Jyn, for the most part anyways, but I'm really excited for Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed and Donnie Yen, as well as Jiang Wen and Alan Tudyk. The movie's more than just about Jyn, it's about the rest of the squad too. I think I saw someone on twitter who had seen the movie yesterday compare it to Band of Brothers but set in the Star Wars universe.

It seems like Jyn's entire catalyst to getting into the mission starts with her father being mentioned, then she finally throws herself wholeheartedly into the Alliance at some point during the movie, probably after the conversation with Saw.

The thing about Jyn is that I don't feel she sells that "I rebel" line. It's in all the ads, but it sounds inauthentic to me. She's supposed to be this zero-fucks radical (or at least that's the impression I've gotten), but she has such a cutesy, singsong inflection.

It's a nitpick, and it definitely doesn't make me any less hyped for the movie, but so far, Jyn feels "manufactured" in a way that Rey didn't.

Maybe it's just an act for her? Like she deliberately plays the unattached drifter because she lost her family to the Empire?

Maybe, but it wouldn't be my go-to characterization. I think she should sound indignant, not cheeky.

Personally I think it'd be a little rash to put too much stock re: characterisation etc. on one line out of context in a trailer. She could be putting on a persona when she uses that line, it might be before she undergoes any proper character development anyway, they might even use a totally different take in the movie proper that gives it a different slant.

I disagree. I mean, you're right, we don't know whether her delivery makes sense or not in the context of the whole scene/movie, but if they're putting that one line in so many ads, then I think it's fair to be critical. They obviously want to draw our attention to it.

Yeah, that sort of stuff where they overlay dialogue from some parts of the movie onto other bits for trailers is annoying.

Anyway according to some of the tweets from the premiere we'll be getting Missing Trailer Scene again. Ugh -_-

[up][up] A bunch of scenes/lines in the trailers are just there to set the tone of the movie, and aren't in the film themselves, from what I've heard.

Huh. That's unfortunate.

Well, as long as they don't cut that giant fallen Jedi statue, I'll be okay. That is a nice statue.

And hey, maybe this means they cut that "I rebel" line everyone hates. I can live with it if they still have it, but that definitely feels like a line just put in to set the trailer.

There was apparently one scene someone mentioned that involved "troopers in the water," which I think might be that one shot we get a lot of stormtroopers advancing from the ocean in front of a bunch of AT-AC Ts.

[up][up] The line itself is fine. It's the inflection that sounds off.

The line is really silly, and I never really expected it to be in the movie. It would sound weird in actual dialogue.

I'm now imagining sitcom-styled Rebel Alliance job screenings. It's amazing.

I kinda want a Rebel Alliance sitcom now, actually.

I guess it might sound better as, "This is a rebellion, isn't it? I'm rebelling."

Yeah, I found the line (both the delivery of it and the line itself) to be incredibly narmy and annoying, and it's probably one of the first things that turned me off the character. We'll see if the movie can win me back on her.
