Never realized that there has never been a discussion thread for this comic, which is pretty weird since, if I'm not mistaken, it's one of the best comics out there as of late.

So without further ado, discuss.

Huh, I didn't see this thread until now. I really love the comic! It's very cute and exciting, and I love all the adventures the girls have. It really does feel like a combination of Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and Steven Universe, and I love all those shows, so I love this comic. ^_^

I just read the recent issue. I'm so glad Barney gets to be a Lumberjane now! Gosh, this comic actually has really fantastic LGBT representation.

I do find it amusing that Lumberjanes had an Intercompany Crossover with Gotham Academy. On the one hand, the latter is a niche comic for DC that you wouldn't expect to get this kind of crossover. On the other hand, it targets pretty much the same audience as Lumberjanes, so at least the crossover makes sense.

Just started reading it recently, because the Internet persuaded me.

Liking it so far, but, honestly, not very fond of the art style. Especially April facial expressions - she looks like a caricature of an angry toddler.

That being said, the characters, the setting and the diversity is awesome.

If we disagree, that much, at least, we have in common

IIRC, the artist does change later in the series, so you won't be stuck with the same artstyle. Or at least the artists switch out. I don't really remember.

Maybe I should reread the series again just to make sure... tongue

Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I love the comic a lot. It's very cute and I love all of the characters.

I mean, a live-action adaptation was in the works by Fox before the Disney merger, but that was apparently cancelled by Disney. However, Lumberjanes is one of those books that seems right up Disney's alley and I can see them making an animated show from it, similar to Gravity Falls or Owl House.

[up] honestly, I feel like Lumberjanes would work better as an animated show.

Bump.

Get ready to pack your bags and say good-bye to your favorite Hardcore Lady Types, because it's the end of summer, y'all... sad

(And yet irony of ironies, the oversized one-shot is publishing in December. Which is, you know, the furtherest one could get from summer.)

EDIT: That said, while the main comic is ending, there's probably something else? Keep your ears to the ground...

Looks like that Lumberjanes cartoon is close to happening, because a livestream event regarding LGBTQ+ cartoons featuring Noelle mentions it.

Noelle recently sold LUMBERJANES based on her bestselling comic with Shannon Watters and Grace Ellis to HBO Max. Noelle will write, direct, and executive produce the feature special and series to follow.

Bumping this to note that there is a 10th anniversary complete collection Kickstarter campaign.

Alas, I'm pretty sure the proposed Max series is dead.
