Raiders will always be the best Indy film. It just does so many things right.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Though that ending... was that supposed to imply the US government has literally hundreds of mystical artifacts they're just sitting on?
I figured it was just a generic warehouse where it'll never be found.
Probably just unexplainable stuff in general.
Only like 10% of those boxes have magical superweapons...
Of course, they reference the warehouse (well, not THAT warehouse, but apparently one just like it) in the much maligned Legend of the Crystal Skulls.
I really wanted them to do more with Short Round; I heard he showed up in a couple of the Indy novels, even as an adult. I know they intend to make at least one more movie with Harrison Ford, so I can hold out hope that he at least gets referenced.
Another thing that confused me: did the ship's captain really betray Indy, or was he just pretending to? I think it's the latter but I'm not sure.

Short Round also appeared in a few of the comics.
I assume if Katanga had actually betrayed Indy it would've entailed him selling him out to the Nazis in an attempt to curry favor with them, rather than lying about killing him and trying to keep Marion on board.

Is not impressed.I believe it was the same warehouse, I think the Ark of the Covenant even makes a brief cameo.

It does indeed make a cameo. They even play a bit of the same music.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I think the ending scene of Raiders was not that the US Govt is hoarding artifacts; rather that there is one thing that can hide something far, far better than religious texts and legends - bureaucracy.
One of my favorite scenes was when Belloq realizes that Jones saying he'll blow up the Ark was a bluff and call him out on it, because an archaeologist would never destroy such an important find.
Hamburger Time, have you seen the other Indy movies?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Hmm, Chris Pratt does look like an Indy.◊
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I've seen bits of Doom and that's it.
You should see Last Crusade. That's about right up there with Raiders in terms of quality.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?@dRoy, I'll never accept Pratt as Indy. In spite of Taking a Level in Badass since Guardians he's still too goofy for me. Fitting for a character like Star Lord, but not Indy. If there's anyone I wouldn't mind stepping into Ford's fedora, Tom Hardy's my pick.◊
Is not impressed.Meh, Indy is plenty goofy anyway.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. It did start as an Affectionate Parody of cheesy '30s movies after all.
Sure, Indy can be a bit goofy, but there's just a sheer ruggedness that Ford brings that I can never see Pratt bringing if he were ever to take up the role. Sure, you could argue Pratt had it in Jurassic World, but I didn't see it. He always has that silly, almost college bro aura. It can work in more tongue-in-cheek films like Guardians, but I feel it's a poor fit for a character like Indiana. Not that there is much to the character, I just think it's going to be hard to replace Ford when they inevitably do (probably when they do Indy 6 and he ends up dying in an unrelated helicopter crash). And I don't think Pratt is a fitting replacement.
Now if they did something different, like have it be Indy when he's far far younger, then maybe. I could see it working.
Is not impressed.Meh, nothing few more pounds of muscle and acting direction can't do.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I'll agree with you there, it's not that I don't think he could pull it off, I just don't personally see it happening. Pratt's a competent actor, after all.
Is not impressed. If there's going to be another ''Indiana Jones" movie, I think it should probably be a "passing the torch" movie.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I say forget about Mutt, and have Indy pass the torch (or hat and whip, in this case) to a grown up Short Round.
And I'm asking this because I just watched Raiders all the way through for the first time today yaaaay. It really is as good as they say; I'm surprised how many imitated points of pop culture come from the largely irrelevant first scene alone.
