So I haven't read the books, and I'm curious about the plot.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

Crazy man with guns roams the multiverse, picking up stray kids along the way, in search of Cosmic Keystone for...reasons that I forget.

And so far the response to the casting is positive, I take it? Because I don't know about y'all, but seeing Elba and Mc Conaughey together makes me really excited.

They should cast Justin Bieber as Flagg and Carrot Top as Jake. tongue

[up][up][up]...that sounds awesome. Now I really hope that they don't screw it up.

(edited arrows in because I meant the plot not... Bieber)

[up]Nice costume. He sort of looks the part. Also queue the comments section saying that he don't look like Roland, descendant of Arthur Pendragon. Which is sorta true, as there was no such person. tongue

First look at some of the images from the film.

Looking pretty good so far. Idris Elba (to no one's surprise) looks like a stone cold badass. And McConaughey's looking pretty good as the Man in Black as well.

[up][up] Well, anyone who's not a middle-aged Clint Eastwood is never going to look entirely right in the role.

Scott Eastwood in 10 or so years would probably be great. Maybe they can have him cameo in a sequel as a former Roland or something.

Depends on if he can get the squint right.

So I've stayed away from any detailed plot descriptions because it's the sort of movie I'm probably going to see regardless (my mom's a huuuuge King fan); but those set pics have me really intrigued now.

Some stuff.

“I took a pen and cut Roland’s dialogue to the bone,” King told Entertainment Weekly. “The less he says the better off, and why not? Idris Elba can act with his face. He’s terrific at it. He projects that sense of combined menace and security. [Roland] is the Western hero, the strong, silent type: ‘Yep,’ ‘Nope,’ and ‘Draw.'”

Haven't read these yet. Should I binge them before the movie or just watch it.

For personal reasons the last book in the series can die in a fire, screaming and melting all its pages off as far as I'm concerned, but the others are pretty good. Word of warning though, King wrote a buttload of interquels that are at best passable, at worst disposable, so your mileage may vary on those. Skipping them to save money could be justifiable as they're not referred to much, if at all, in the mainline books.

Bump.

If the main villains (Randall Flagg and the Crimson King) were to receive an injection of Adaptational Badass, what would it be like?
