Rename "You know, that thing where..."

Now with the latest change of "Lost & Found" into Trope Finder I want to suggest another forum change for You know, that thing where.... That name has always bugged me because it does not describe the function of the forum at all. It is a relict from the time when Lost & Found and "You know, that thing where..." were still one and the same forum. Anybody else thinks now is the time for a name update? Other suggestions are welcome.

I agree, I always thought "You know, that thing where..." was a much better name for the Trope Finder than for a trope builder.

That said, it's one of those things that's so entrenched here that I'm pretty sure it's grandfathered in. But I would be down with a change.

Page Builder would be even more accurate, since we can use it to build articles other than just trope pages.

I like the idea for a rename, but it should be more indicative of our options. Any page is creatable with it, so...

It also would encourage people to use it. Someone who doesn't know how to make pages, someone with less experience, probably isn't going to realize You Know That Thing Where means "this is the place to go for help building a page." And obviously, they're the ones who need it the most. So a big button that says "Page Builder" might help us prevent awful pages done without a YKTTW.

So yeah. This thinking moves me from "this change makes more sense, but it wouldn't necessarily do anything" to "this change could really help the site."

Now is the time to put another in-joke to bed, yes. I'm not sure "Page Builder" is descriptive enough, but it will work unless someone has a better idea.

I am happy with Page Builder.

You Know That Thing Where is something of an inside wiki joke. It's definitely outlived its time, though.

I think Trope Builder works fine. Most of the YKTT Ws I've seen are for tropes, not works.

Ideally, all article building would use the drafting interface and then get published when it's sufficiently complete.

True, but I think supporting other pages to be made there is a good idea. A lot of headaches can be alleviated if people go there first.

Page Builder is definitely a better name. It more clearly states its purpose, and isn't a mouthful to say.

Which time is this we've suggested Page Builder as a new name? It seems to come up every time we discuss renaming YKTTW.

I would prefer Article Builder, myself. But yeah, the main reason it hasn't changed is inertia. Plus there is a lot of hardcoded stuff around it, such as the forced linking of YKTTW and You Know That Thing Where.

I would argue for Article Builder myself, because that seems clearer to me and offers at a glance what it's supposed to be about.

I will at this point though say that it should be explained what generally needs to be put there by virtue of what it is, but that Works' Pages Are a Free Launch so as to not intimidate people from lesser known works.

That's a good point. We'd have to do a decent amount of work. Is it possible to give it a redirect title without changing the old one to make it easier to link to? Like Trope Finder currently is?

Oh, and agreed on Article Builder. Far more specific.

I'd support Article Builder over Page Builder.

I prefer Page Builder because it's more newbie-friendly. Not everyone knows that they're called articles, but everyone knows a page is a page.

I'm basically thinking that we should make it as idiot-proof as possible.

I said "page", because not all indexes are full articles, but I don't have a specific preference for any. Just that the most popular ones earn redirect status in the Administrivia namespace.

I am down for a rename along the lines being discussed.

Maybe "Propose a Trope"? (or "Propose a New Trope")

YKTTW is used for creating pages/articles of all sorts. That really won't work due to its nature.

I like Page Builder as the new name. To me (a more casual user), it's more straightforward and self-explanatory than Article Builder.

YKTTW has never made much sense to me, so I'm more than down for a rename.
