The last question, maybe it shows up later? It didn't play in Force till halfway through the series.
Yeah, that's right. Pidge was a ninja in the old series.
Or at the least, he was ridiculously agile. Not bad for someone with a really dumb voice.
One Strip! One Strip!I tried watching some of the original Voltron, and It hasn't aged all that well. I mean I watched Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs when I was a kid and I'm sure that hasn't exactly aged well either. In fact I don't even clearly remember much about that show apart from the four main characters and all their vehicles. I'm hoping that this new Voltron will take it's time getting started and that they won't rush the origin. I also hope it doesn't become too formulaic, but with only 13 episodes there's a good chance that won't happen.
How could you forget the AWESOME theme song? Its AWESOMESAUCE LOL. WEP sure did know how to churn out great theme songs.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.So I just had a thought:
Instead of killing Shiro, why not just injure him like the american version claimed, and then have him come back as the head of the Vehicle Voltron...
...which gets shrunk to five members as well.
One Strip! One Strip! And this is why I hope if we ever get a humanoid mecha in real life that it's not a combining one.
I still think they need to introduce Pidge's brother Chip somewhere.
My new idea is that each team (Air, Sea, Land) has one vehicle instead of five, creating a Power Trio. And since we're referencing GaoGaiGar, we might as well have Chip be the Beneki to a Ryoma and Hayato. You can get all the Gladiator Voltron references in that way because apparently WEP doesn't have the rights to Albegas anymore.
The official website (voltron.com) has updated with a a lot of new information. Character bios, images, and tons more. Some very mild spoilers in there.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).So, any confirmation on that one rumour about Pidge?
Still wondering if they are really gonna do it or not. There haven't been any real clues from the trailer so far.
One Strip! One Strip!Well about Pidge,
It's not like they'd hint at it anyways. And it's not really a rumor per say. The spoilers about Pidge came from what seems like a pretty legitimate site. The page was removed too, interestingly enough. But let's look at the evidence Pidge is voiced by a girl, which happens, but still. Pidge's design certainly looks like they could be a girl if the secret is true. And their clothes are rather baggy.
Goodness, Facebook is having a big whine fest over the new trailer, it's really pathetic.
Voltron has always wavered between "Meh" and absolute shit to me, but I'll give it an episode or two.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.I don't get it. This was the problem with Voltron Force, that it was dogmatic towards a 30 year old hodgepodge of a series. Now that they're rebuilding it from the ground up, people are upset? Oy.
I'm honestly surprised of all the complaints and other observations, only one guy pointed out Lance is well...Sokka. That and Allura looks like Mihoshi from Tenchi Muyo!.

Remaking anything is always a dangerous proposition. I'd say that what most long-time fans hope for from such a thing is a deeper take, rather than a different one. They want it to delve deeper into the characters and go places the original didn't think to go. If you change too much about it, you get the "you're pissing on my childhood" complaint. It's childish and irrational, but there you are. If the makers of this series didn't know what they were getting into, then they should have.
It's the nostalgia goggles talking with these people and it's a real shame since it's look really good to me. I'm pretty glad I haven't watched the original Voltron myself right about now, although I've always been the type to give things a chance..
Honestly, I have watched the original, and I am looking forward to this.
A fresh take on the series might be what it needed after the 3rd dimension and Force.
This is a chance to re-tell the story for new generations.
One Strip! One Strip!Indeed and it's a great way to bring in new fans of series that was once big but faded out a bit as the years went by.
I'm starting to think that the rumors about Pidge are untrue, given the composition of the class in the group scene in the trailer, where the instructor asks what mistake they made.

They're not really rumors though, it was a detailed description of Pidge's character on a website. Could it be untrue, yes? But it's not a rumor per say.
That being said, there could be more to Pidge pretending to be a boy then for what would seem like obvious reasons.
We won't know until we watch.
But it's a Netflix series, so I believe it will all be posted at once, so at the least, we won't need to wait too long to learn the answer.
One Strip! One Strip!Thank goodness for that. I don't need another show I have to wait weekly for.
My old man self is laughing my butt off. Why in MY day, we had to wait a whole week for our shows, and we had to power the TV ourselves with an exercise bike connected to a generator while another kid stood on the roof adjusting the antenna....
And actually, that didn't count for Voltron, given that it was on in weekday syndication.

God I need to talk to you more! I want to learn more about the Golden Era of Weekday Syndication!

And this is how I know I'm getting old; I look at the new trailer, and the promo material, and all I can think is: "Well, this looks pretty nea-WTF did they do to the Blazing Sword?! It's supposed to be a cool-looking five-pronged classic broadsword, this looks like a generic sci-fi sword! Does it even have a handle?!
"And all the pilots are from Earth this time? Why?! "Force" - the last Voltron show that apparently nobody but me liked - established they were from all over the galaxy. Pidge came from a planet of ninjas! That were also scientists! Why would you not want to keep that?!
"And where the fuck is Voltron's theme music!!"
