The Troperia

Kitchen / Longue

Russell snatches the tissues with a minor tinge of annoyance. "I would have found it by myself..." Taking a few to help him with his nosebleed, leaving the rest of the box on the counter. He clearly looked a little uneasy, even without being able to see any messages being sent maybe feeling the atmosphere change a little.

Looking over as Amos announces he might leave. "Oh i'm coming too then!" Returning to a rather enthusiastic response despite holding his nose for the bleeding, dashing around the counters over and hopping up onto his board to glide besides him and follow his friend out.

Hallway

Kyerine looks at Toraq and listens then hears Mireille's comment. "Oh yeah I know where I-" He is in the middle of responding before disappearing in a flash of iridescent blue light... Then only moments later reappearing again on Toraq's shoulders carrying the Kyerine sized bear Kyeman which by the feeling to Toraq's shoulders is far heavier than even a bear of that size should be. "Found him! Thanks Dr Mireille!"

Looking over to the others. "If Tor says we should investigate we should!" He yes-man supports his essentially surrogate feline father.

Storage Room

The storage room was large, a warehouse essentially easily somewhere you could get lost if you didn't know where stuff was stored. Most of it organised by the various small cargo drones going around picking up boxes that fall down and helping anyone carry any of the larger tech, especially spare parts for the ships. After all, the hangar is nearly adjacent to this room.

Michael looked around and gestured a hand to follow him, he knew where stuff was stored. He spent several board houses organising it digitally after the restock. Still casually talking in the meantime. ["And 5 was the lowest right, 1 or 0 being he best then, I assume for like leaders..? Sorry I don't know much about your culture or species or anything."] Michael admits with some minor embarrassment, despite it being perfectly reasonable and understandable.

Hallways upstairs near the science lab.

A large rumbling sound is heard for a few seconds including a huge crackling electrical noise from the once unused section of hull currently being renovated into Blake's new workshop.

Bridge

The creature tilted itself slightly at what Greg says, looking over towards the Troperia's monitors perhaps hoping that it would. Its posture tilted slightly upright and its quad mandibles moving with a bit of a jitter.

Storage Room

Aur follows along in silence. When they arrive he takes a look around, though he doesn't really take it all in. He seems lost in thought.

... Why am I even still here? Learning the ship layout? I'm not even doing anything productive.. I haven't done anything productive since arriving..

Oh please, you've done things. Don't wallow in self pity...

Really. Like what? Soaking that crazy AI? That was one thing. And I still haven't gotten anywhere with her last wish.

Aur sighs aloud.

Torvahk followed Michael as instructed, taking some moments to glance at his surroundings, as he noted that he hadn't previously explored this room either. [["No no, you're right. 5 is the cheapest class of Dehket, usually reserved for single low-income workers. The main reason I was able to move into a Class 4 was because of my promotions. "Got it." Val starts connecting to the network with his neural interface.

I know it was uncalled for. I'm likely just as disappointed in his actions as you are. We've discussed this sort of thing in detail in the past. he gives Peter a sidelong glance.

The Troperia

Hallway outside Longue

Russell floats besides Amos, holding his nose still. Seemingly pretty unperturbed by what happened. "Sure, we never got to finish the tour so you can show me where it is." He responds with a friendly smile.

Tilting his head only slightly backwards and shrugging as they move. "It's weird having people around with odd powers. Freezing the floor by accident and all, he should be more careful." He continues commenting on his perception of what happened, having no idea it wasn't a mere accident.

Hallway near Medbay

Kyerine quirks his head slightly leaning over at Toraq. "A bed from a room nobody was using. I transmogrified its chemical and physical structure since I couldn't keep the other bear." He responds casually and slightly confused, not seeing a problem or any oddness with what he just said.

Looking up at Mireille with a slight frown. "I don't have one. I stowed away to get aboard..." He replies not really sad but a little disappointed sounding not having a proper response.

Bridge

The creature lets out a incredibly brief but high pitched screech and moves over to a console. Resting on its lower torso so its pedipalps were able to better operate the console. Selecting a blond woman dressed in pink as a character, after fumbling around for a while trying to figure out the controls.

Storage Room

Michael nods having reached the area in question, opening a storage case to reveal the books in question, then a draw nearby just filled with writing equipment. ["Here they are."] Michael responds gesturing for Torvahk.

Looking behind with a slightly surprised look, forgetting that Aur was following in his concentration. "Oh i'm sorry Aur, is there anything you need?"

"Wouldn't necessarily call him a prisoner, either, but if that's your take on it that's your take on it. He's always been free to leave - everyone is - but the simple act of how he chose to proceed sort of made him a criminal."

"That's understandable, but I still have my own questions," Kijo finally intones. Ricardo nods.

"As well you should. Just as we do, even though I only worked with David to make sure the neural interfacing to the Grid worked correctly. Mostly by making sure it didn't short out and fry you while it was getting installed. Not that that had ever happened, but...well, better to be sure."

He sighs as the shuttle comes to a stop.

"Knowing Brindle, he'll want to start testing immediately. It's been a long year, Dave, but we managed to keep him civil. Good thing you got to us, too - he was planning on getting a hold of Maria," the man shudders at this before continuing, "From there, there is a high likelihood to be...just...just mountains of paperwork. And that's if you were to stay, which I assume you aren't willing to do."

"You assume correct. I have no fondness for this place." This seems to catch Ricardo by surprise, though he doesn't voice why.

"Either way, for now the plan is to wait. David, I'm getting that Brindle is wanting to speak with you, should be getting that message in a second. Better get going," Ricardo says, and stands as the shuttle door opens, "As for the rest of us...pizza? Or whatever you happen to want. This place is actually pretty awesome."

I did my best, sorry if I broke the lore :/

Amada Spaceport

Among the usual busy rush of the Amada Spaceport, one single girl was seen walking aimlessly through the sea of creatures unknown to herself. However unlike many little girls her age, Luna wasn't in the least bit afraid or scared of them. She was curious about why a pack of dog-shaped creatures had thier noses shaped like a plum, or if that wierd giraffe-spider-cow was a he or a she, OR if the space hotdogs were made out of space pigs.Luna was a girl of a million questions, a creature well out of her league in this nest of biological anonymity , but her innocence and rather simpleton ignorance to the world around her made a shield to her emotions.

The little girl was dressed in her usual attire for a trip: a very plain black dress that came down to her knees, her hair grown long enough to reach her chest while her bangs being combed over her left ear, a backpack in which she brought some essentials and spare clothing, and finally some flipflops on her little feet. In total, she wasn't prepared as she could be. In fact, it seemed like she packed and left on short notice.

Eventually though, she reached a line and waited for her turn to talk to the ticketmaster. Everyone looked at her strangely, as if they wondered if she were a child or a really short human with an annoying knack to stare. Nevertheless, the line pressed forward and she reached the ticket-booth. Slapping a few bills she had "acquired" from her household the little girl pointed to the "menu" of assorted locations and said in a rather childish manner, "I want that one!"

"That one?" the ticket-master repeated in a worried tone.

"That one." she repeated with a sure look on her face.

"That ONE? " The abnormally sized chimpanzee asked again with his head twisting completely upside down, "You know what you're asking for right?"

"Yup." She said while nodding, but on the contrary she had no idea what she was pointing at. The language was completely unknown to her, and the world looked pretty on the picture. Something about it said "resort" more than the questionable destination that the monkey was yammering to her about. Luna then nudged the money forward and smiled, "Ticket please."

Although reluctantly, the ticket-master handed the money in for a single ticket upon the Juggun'awt. Without much delay, and a lot of questions to random people around the spaceport, she eventually made it to the terminal and found her seat on the ship. It was a massive, dark, rugged thing. No wonder it had that name. Luna looked outside the window and saw only the wonderful blackness of space. It was pretty and it made a pit in her stomach that butterflies made a nest in.

FLIGHT LEAVING TO ALEXANDRIA RESEARCH STATION LEAVING IN T MINUS 10...

Luna held tightly onto the straps of her seat, waiting for the sudden jolt of the ship taking off. She heard it was painful the first time, like all your bones being thrust to the seat behind you at speeds the human eye couldn't even catch. At least, that what the weird one-eyed lemur beggar told her before she got to the terminal.

3...

Luna closed her eyes, maybe she wouldn't feel it.

2...

It's not like these things kill people, right? They wouldn't be in business then, right?

1....

The flight captain's voice suddenly came on, "Oh shit."

  • Three hours later

Alexander Dock

Luna limped onto the dock of Alexandria with long, black hair stuck in the upright position and her hand barely dragging her backpack along the ground. As she moved away from the door, she noticed that she was the only one getting off. That was weird, isn't this a resort?

I'm not sure if ships actually arrive at this part of the station. Just rolling with it.

"Thank you for visiting Alexander. As of right now, you are standing in sub-section 34B, in the docking area. Where would you like to go?" A voice came from the direction of a massive man wearing what seemed to be a type of battle armor. He wasn't the one talking, but some kind of A.I. interface from the place. However that didn't really matter. He was wearing body armor.

That sparks conversation.

"Hey you!" Luna shouted rather loudly while waving at Valdes Ranekhi, "That looks sooo cool Where can I get one of those!?"

Behind her the ship launched faster than she could even notice, looking behind it almost looked as if it wanted to get as much distance as it could from this place. No matter, the little girl ran over to Val and tapped him on the arm. Hopefully he felt that.

"Don't ask me."

Bridge

Mitch starts playing along with the others. "Yeah, it is." He says to West.

I didn't set this up on purpose, but it did just occur to me that this is actually a really good time for my characters to go off on their own somewhere. In about a week (this Sunday), I'm going out of town for 2-4 weeks, and I should have internet access, but I don't know how reliable it will be, or how frequently I'll be able to get on. I certainly won't be able to get on as frequently as I currently do. So I'll take my time with Sy's conversation and leave my characters alone when I go out of town, and once I'm there I'll figure out if I have the time to keep them active. Otherwise I'll just leave them until I get back home, which will be either the middle of August or the end of August.

[Bridge]

When no further questions seemed forthcoming, Bexahn inclined her head respectfully and quietly left the bridge.

[Crew's Quarters—Sy's Room]

Silas sat in one of two small chairs on opposite sides of a small table set against the back wall of his room. He didn't look up when Bexahn entered the room; his eyes were fixed on something small concealed between his hands. He hunched slightly, like a dog who thought Bexahn might hit him.

"I should apologize," Bexahn said, closing the door behind her.

"You said what you needed to say to get me to meet with you. Now say what you want to say and leave."

He'd dug himself in, psychologically. If she'd been able to follow him closely, he wouldn't have had time, but that man on the bridge had delayed her, and now—

"I'm not here to talk at you and leave," Bexahn said, a little sharply. She dragged out the chair across from Silas and sat in it. Sy's head came up, startled. "Andris is my friend."

That wasn't exactly true, but it also wasn't really a lie. Then again, any relationship with a Prime was probably too complicated to be summed up in a single word. Except...

"So, what?" Sy said, the surprise fading. "You're here to check up on me, and report back that everything's hunky-dory so ve doesn't have to trouble vis self with seeing me?"

The slap was light enough to barely warrant being called a 'slap', but the fact that she'd done it so effortlessly despite the four feet of table separating them was impressive. Her flexibility wasn't the point, though.

"Fine," Bexahn said coldly. "You want me to see me as a robot; here's why I'm sitting across from you. Primary objective: Ascertain the state of your physical and psychological health, and relay your state of wellbeing to Andris at the first opportunity. Because ve would appreciate the gesture, because ve's a human, and because ve cares about you. Secondary objective: Ascertain the viability of any attempt at convincing you to use that little trinket you're playing with."

Startled again, Sy's hands froze. He shoved the little coin in his pocket.

"Tertiary objective: Confirm or deny certain uncorroborated, contentious details from Andris's report. Yes, about you. And I will not explain what those details are until you pull your head out of your ass and treat with me as you treat with all of the other complete strangers on this ship, or the malfunctioning AI on yours. I deserve at least that much respect, and if you can't acknowledge that, then I will stop treating you as a person and start treating you as a mission."

She leaned forward, almost unconsciously manipulating her posture so that the light fell on her face just so, creating deep shadows that made her seem almost inhuman. Though he recognized the trick, Sy couldn't help but draw back slightly.

"I came aboard this ship with nothing but good intentions. I brought nothing with me. I have spoken only the truth, and withheld nothing except arcane classified information about wars half a galaxy away. I have treated you with respect, Sy, as a person—as an equal. I can very easily shift my paradigm, adjust my perspective, and make you a mission objective instead. You do not want me to make that shift, Silas."

Almost as an afterthought, she sat back. The unsettling shadows evaporated, and with them, the illusion of monstrousness.

What am I doing? she thought. Of all the tools at a Prime's disposal, swinging their Prime reputation around like a bludgeon was one of the most effective—and one of the most sparingly used, because of its volatility. She certainly hadn't walked into this room intending to threaten him.

This was highly disturbing.

But the overture had been made, and she couldn't undo it.

Probabilities contorted wildly. Some of the branching possibilities evaporated, others shimmered into existence. Whole swathes of the future had become impossible because of her mistake—that could not happen again. Her entire plan could become untenable with enough mistakes like that. Prime plans often changed, but rarely failed entirely. When they did, Primes weren't above abandoning a lost cause—but Bexahn wasn't sure she could afford to abandon this one.

"Well you see that's the thing..." Luna starts as she puts her index finger on her chin, "I started out at the Amada spaceport, you know little old me trying to embark on a new adventure into the cosmos. When I got there I met a WHOLEEEE bunch of strange people, even saw some space hotdogs. By the way are they made out of space pigs?" She started to ramble for several moments later about the things she saw and the questions she had, space was a mysterious wonder for her and she wanted to know all of it with the purest of intentions. To Vals detriment, the man had to listen to it. However luckily she finally cut to the chase.

"So then I got here. This is a resort, right? I mean I bought the tickets and the picture on the map had an umbrella on it..." she said as she raised the tickets up so that Val could see it. The ticket was measly little piece of paper that said "Alexandria Research Center", but due to Luna's inhibition to glance over at things and not really look at the specifics, the umbrella was a part of the decal on the ticket and possibly the terminal in which the Ticketmaster resided in. Like a child showing her father a prize she won, she shook the ticket slightly to show emphasis on what she held. Luna had no idea where she was and she honestly didn't care. Much like how she overlooked the detail of the map and the ticket, her sense of overlooking important details derives from her human disability. This being the main reason why she was here in the first place. Luna was attention deficit. Nothing could really hold her attention for long and due to this, the tutors at her home often beat her to get her to calm down and focus. This obviously set her apart in her own home. She had so much aggression toward her parents for never being there, her tutors, and all the eyes that watched as she was beaten.

However that backstory will be saved for another time. Now in her naivete she was here trying to explain what she just went through to a man who could probably snap her spine and toss her into the vacuum of space between breaths. However she for some reason trusted him.

Sy was oblivious—he was probably too distracted even to notice a less subtle interruption—but Bexahn heard the buzzing, and correctly guessed that it was the Troperia, again failing to conceal emotional responses.

She might have been annoyed by the invasion, but then, she herself had promised no violence, and the very act of slapping Silas had shown that maybe they were justified in keeping an eye on her. Fair enough.

The branching possibilities had shifted too much for her to monitor them all passively. Quietly, she sat back and meditated, for only a few seconds.

True, a lot of possibilities had disappeared with the slap and the threat. But the ones—significantly fewer; the path was getting narrower and narrower—that had appeared in their stead were so intriguing that Bexahn began to think maybe the slap hadn't been a mistake. It had made things more difficult, but she might have learned something valuable enough to justify it.

That remained to be seen, though.

"You have to understand," Sy mumbled. Bexahn emerged from the Probability Trance without giving any sign that she had entered it. "Andris was..." He trailed off.

"I know," Bexahn replied, just as quietly. "And ve hurt you. But you know that ve was honest with you, which is all you can ask of one of us. You weren't an asset to be disengaged and abandoned. Ve didn't disappear in the dead of night, or feed you a lie to explain why ve had to leave, or pretend it was about a mission."

"Don't you get it?" Sy said. "That just makes it worse. People see you as superhuman. As the closest a sophont can come to being a Power without actually Transcending. You're like gods to us—human gods. Or—sophont gods, whatever. Do you have any idea what it's like to have the love of a god? What does it mean? What does that say about me?"

"We are not gods," Bexahn said, knowing even as she said it that the words sounded hollow. There was something about Silas, she was certain. But—

"Ve told me that there was something special about me. Something ve couldn't understand. Something a Prime couldn't understand. And I know ve was being honest, and that's—that's impossible. I let ver in completely, I gave ver everything, and ve told me that I was some kind of mystery."

She let out a long, silent breath. She knew what Andris had meant, though she didn't understand it any better than Sy or even Andris.

Sy was something no Prime had ever encountered.

...Was he even really human?

Alexander Shuttle -> Commerce 34B

"Yeah, pretty much what they said. And Maria..." he takes a pause here, and David picks it up as he exits after Kijo and Lex.

"Maria is a true radical to the G.R.A.H.A.M. ideals. She's a dangerous combatant who has willingly augmented herself to the point that she's almost a complete mesh of human and technology."

"Mm, she's also batshit crazy. People at Bell only keep her on the payroll because, for starters, she's too much of a threat as an enemy. On the other hand, having a literal powerhouse at your disposal is quite the bargaining chip. She's only been on Alexander once, and it was...disturbing."

As they walk, the others should see people of all ages and types walking around in the halls, and soon they come into a very large area that looks more like a five floor mall than anything else. There are literally hundreds of shops, and the whole thing looks like a massive hallway.

"Welp, this is Commerce for our sector. Not as big as some others - especially not like the main sectors - but we've still got almost everything we could need here. That pizza place is this way."

Troperia, Hallway

Mireille looked at Kyerine as he said this "Wait... so you have no bed of your own?" She thought for a bit "If you don't mind plants you could come into my room, there is not a single electronic device in there safe for my terminal, so, it should be alright... if you want that is, I could bring my old bed in there again or make you a plant for sleeping." By now she had decided that she would make sure to provide a bed for her assistant. "Would you be willing to? If so I could ask the capitan about the tube post."

Bridge

"That everyone who wants to play? I think so. Anyway, game on, then!" Greg says with notable eagerness and begins the game. As soon as the match starts he doesn't waste getting into it.

Hallway -> Crew Deck Storage Room

Amos nods simply. "Yeah, I agree completely...and sure, we can do more touring." he says as he stops in front of the door marked storage. "Here we go. Come on." he says, and pushes the door open into a moderately sized room with a few rows of shelves on the right side of the room. "This here is the crew storage room. It's...well...auxillary storage forthings the crew might need on this level. Spare clothing, medical supplies, food..." he explains as he heads over towards the first row and begins to rifle though a crate.

Hallway

Tor takes a moment to absorb that answer. 'I'd bring up how that toys around with conservation of mass, though...I certainly believe it. It feels about as heavy as a bed, yes..." Tor says and slowly straightens, now using his Essence to bolster his skeletal and muscular systems for the moment.

Roof of the Troperia

"There it is." Finding the frequency he wanted, he types it in and the comm device begins to ring and displays Connecting...

After a bit, long enough that Rakiri starts to think there won't be any answer, the other end picks up and the image of Rorik comes into view, who looks more than a little groggy like he had just been sleeping and actually going without his bandanna for once and revealing his slightly jagged, blue-white hair. "...Hmm? Aer...Rakiri...?"

"Yeah. Hey...I'm, er...returning your call. Finally. Sorry, were you sleeping? I keep forgetting the cycles back over on that end..." Rakiri answers, looking apologetic.

"No, no, it's fine. I don't mind if it's you. Is something wrong, though...?"

"Well...I just wanna talk, I guess."

Rorik pauses for a bit on the other end of the video, and sits up from what looks like a bed, trying to smooth out his bedhead. "Well, alright, let's talk."

The Troperia

Bridge

The creature sets forward trying to play, his character wielding a pink parasol... When I said trying to play that is what i meant. Currently just standing there spamming a attack as the creature tries to learn the controls and what to do.

Crew Deck Storage Room

Russell looks around the room, listening and moving his watch raising and lowering his wrist to get better detail and images in different spots trying to learn the room. "There is so much stuff in here!" He comments with a little bit of amazement.

After just a few breif moments, he quickly calms down like his excitement just washed off. Stepping down from his board, his expression changing from happy and carefree to clearly serious; giving as determined of a gaze he can, doing his best to aim it towards Amos. Though he still failed to make eye-contact. "...Amos can I ask you a question?"

Hallway

"The restructuring requires me to maintain the chemical energy in the system, it is conserved. Just some excess energy gets released or extra added from my essence during the process to compensate." He explains back in his more analytical mindset.

"I don't know what the structure of a bear usually is so I just used the beds materials... Not the whole thing just a bit of it." He continues to explain.

Looking over to Mireille. "If I could get a bed to my own and you wouldn't mind, that would be great!" He responds with a mild gesture similar to a fistpump using the arm not carrying the bear... Of which that thing is heavy yet he is having no issue holding it..?

Kyerine leaning over to look at Toraq again. "Shouldn't we be going to see the Captain?"

Cargobay

Michael smiled in response to Torvahk. ["Just doing what I can to help. As you said, I might not be a fighter but it takes all types to keep things going."] He responds far more confident than he began, actually in this foreign language far more confident in general than his own tongue.

Then he looks back to Aur. "I-If you're sure, just i'm here to h-help if you need anything." He responds with a slightly unconvinced tone.
