Joe Alaskey, the Emmy-winning voice actor behind Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and several other iconic cartoon characters has died at age 63.

Alaskey has worked for Warner Bros. since 1980, and stepped up to fill the roles of Bugs, Daffy, Elmer Fudd, and several other characters after the death of Mel Blanc in 1989.

Alaskey, who was born in upstate New York, also provided the voice of Marvin the Martian, Sylvester the Cat, Plucky Duck from Tiny Toon Adventures, and Grandpa Lou Pickles in Rugrats.

Alaskey won an Emmy in 2004 for voicing Daffy Duck in the Cartoon Network series Duck Dodgers. The series featured a crossover with DC Comics’ Green Lantern, in which Dodgers became the Green Loontern. One of Alaskey’s final roles saw him reprise the Green Loontern character for Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

Alaskey’s family announced his death on Feb. 3, according to TMZ.

Rest in Peace Joe.

I didn't know you too well, but it seems I heard you quite often.

Jesus. So many deaths this year.

He may not have been Mel Blanc, but being second-best to Mel Blanc doesn't mean you're bad. He helped carry Duck Dodgers and made that series one of the funniest things ever done with the Looney Tunes characters.

So RIP to a man who did justice to the legacy of the characters he voiced.

The Fates must be having a kick out of this, aren't they?

Wait, isn't he Bugs in Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production? surprised

Because if he is...uh oh.

@Yasmin Perry: The sad thing is he took the role after first Grandpa Lou guy died at a similar age. He also did Howard De Ville, who was a more minor, but equally funny character.

I was mixed about some of his Other Darrin roles, but he was a pretty sound Sylvester and Bugs, and obviously good enough to take the helm of Yosemite Sam before Blanc was even gone. Plucky was also a great original role (even if he used the exact same voice for Daffy later on).

Sad to hear him go so young. May he drink eternal mango juice with Don Messick.

Joe Alaskey is Plucky Duck, and Daffy and Sylvester in all the Looney Tunes movies (both feature and the dtv stuff like Bah Humduck) after but not including Space Jam. He also voiced Bugs in Back In Action.

[up] Yep.

What a loss. I loved his Daffy performances from Duck Dodgers, and he did a good Sylvester too.

Here's a little something to honor him
