I'm expecting Kiznaiver to be another Geass basically, melodramatic and silly but still enjoyable.

My Hero Academia was great. I watched both episodes and was very pleased by everything.

Kiznaiver...did not save Anime this season. Dreadfully boring, gonna drop it here.

Sansha Sanyou.... That's a ...cute cat ● Why none of the girls has anything to drink in their lunches? Eating that much bread just like that can't be really healthy.

  • Mayoiga: You absolutely cannot pack more crazies and assholes in that bus, for the chemical explosion that result will turn the show into a spectacular buswreck.
  • Kizunaiver: Intriguing premise, but way too early to tell anything about the overall quality of the plot. Probably going to have more brain than Kill La Kill, at least. Definitely keeping an eye on this.
  • Haifuri: Literally how the Kancolle anime should've been. If the rest of the story is about them running with their lives on the line and surviving while trying to puzzle out the truth then you can consider me completely and utterly sold for this. Apparently they also pulled a marketing bait and switch, nobody was expecting live ammo, naval warfare and mutiny charges at the first episode.
  • Flying Witch: Pure slice of life with a helping of a/serveral supernatural witch(es). Probably the closest thing we'll have to a Yotsuba anime.
  • Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Starts off really strong and I can't get enough of those shading and soundtrack, boy, especially the soundtrack. Since they aren't being being held back by source material unlike the series it took inspiration from, I'm definitely interested.

That's the meat of the season right there, and it's great. Probably the best anime season in a while.

On Haifuri... Yeah, the preview was totally misleading, but once Yamato appeared in the prologue, I knew that naval battles would happen eventually. That eventually came way sooner and not in the way than expected, though.

Sansha Sanyou: Good animation, especially for a CGDCT series, but it's not funny?

So now everything I care about has aired. Until Big Order on the 15th

Reasonably confident I'm going to be watching Macross, Anne Happy, Kiznaiver, and Hai Furi. Jojo, Cerberus, Onigiri, Kuromukuro, Kabaneri, and Mayoiga depend more on how the next few episodes turn out. And still waiting on Big Order, of course

Sansha Sangyo: I think I got like 5 mins into it and couldn't stomach it. Something about the brightness filtering and certain bits of animation just won't do it -also not particularly funny. I'd much rather watch Anne Happy, and I am not because it isn't anything special so far.

There are just too many slice of life series this season, I have a hard time deciding which one to watch and which ones to backlog.

Thats easy. Watch em all and backlog none.

Sansha Sanjou is probably the oddest of the modern Kirara adaptations to date, as not only is it adapting an older manga (this started out in 2003), but it's the first commercial series of Cherry Ai, who would eventually go on to give us Engaged To The Unidentified. The jokes are rougher as a result, and the comedy is just off. Very much a freshman work.

Another thing pointing to this being close to the "Manga Time" roots compared to anything from Kirara after 2004? The boys in the cast.

Just to show how much fun some people are poking at Mayoiga (which people are calling Another ver. 2), we now apparently have a survival chart again. :P

Between the commercials, the ED, and the information section, it'd be more accurate to call WagaHigh a 2 minute series

Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta? - it's a pure wish fulfillment, but it's pretty cute and funny.

Kiznaiver dropped, which is frankly a relief since I'm already following a dozen full-length anime this season. tongue

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Trustworthy subs for Kuromukuro are out. The first episode as a whole shows more promise than I expected: It's nice to see that what are obviously human imitations of lost technology are actually worth something in their first fight, and the aliens give off heavy Supreme Commander vibes.

Flying Witch Episode 1: If there's one word to describe this anime it's 'comfy.' The atmosphere is very relaxing and Makoto is adorable as are the rest of the cast.

Kuromukuro is apparently about aliens trying to kill humanity with giant blade-wielding robots... Who'd have guessed from the official summary.

Early Impressions

  • Ace Attorney: A faithful adaptation of the video games, which is to say it didn't translate very well to the anime format. Only going to be watching this with friends for the fanservice. Otherwise not recommended; grab a copy of the games instead.
  • Bungou Stray Dogs: Giving it a few more episodes, though so far it's nothing special.
  • Kuma Miko: Funnier than expected. Also lewder. Will hang around for a couple more episodes.
  • Mayoiga: My sympathies for the bus driver who's stuck with the crazy people. Nothing has happened yet, which is apparently a good enough substitute for meaningful suspense because it's keeping me watching.
  • Ushio to Tora: The amnesia plot device was a pleasant surprise— dark and troubled times ahead for the titular duo.
  • Macross Delta: This is one of those mecha series that I just couldn't get into, and frankly it's still proving a challenge.
  • Jojo: Look at how foppish it is. The chic color palette suits the Jojo style so well. Not too fond of Josuke so far, but his Stand has a pretty sweet ability.
  • Super Lovers: It was a pretty sweet if slightly suspicious story of brotherly love, but then I accidentally read a manga spoiler and NOPE NOPE NOPE
  • Gakusen Toshi Asterisk: More nicely animated fights less boring plot please.
  • Sansha Sanyou: It's got pep and cuteness, but fails to get me into the watching mood.
  • Endride: Arata Kangatari made even more boring. This ride ends early.
  • Joker Game: Production IG does some good for the world. I'm so hooked I can smell the cigarette smoke lingering in the air.
  • Flying Witch: Utterly charming.
  • Sousei no Onmyouji: High-school-action-fantasy with a typical setup. Decent for what it is. We'll see if the main duo becomes interesting enough to merit further attention.
  • Gundam Unicorn: Retro-flavored Gundam. Gimme some more.
  • My Hero Academia: Stellar adaptation of a great action shonen. I got the chills!
  • Concrete Revolutio: Still the entertaining mishmash of homages we know and love. Who knows how things will turn out.
  • Hundred: Certainly feels like the hundredth of its kind. Signs point to it being a more mediocre Infinite Stratos.
  • Re Zero: Transported to a fantasy world + rewind upon death = profit. Aside from just rolling two gimmicks into one show, there's also a solid story packed in there, and so far the characters have been pretty interesting. Sold.
  • Bakuon: Boring. Dropped.
  • Seisen no Cerberus: Generic tripe. Why couldn't the big bad monster be Cerberus and not another fricking dragon for a change.
  • Kiznaiver: Intriguing premise, but likely to coast on its style more than anything, which is fine in my book. Pseudophilosophy is fun in its own right.
  • Netoge: Fluffy and likeable wish-fulfillment. Yes totally gonna keep watching it yessss
  • Wagamama High Spec: Droll. Skipping this one.
  • Koutetsuji no Kabaneri: A world overrun by monsters, a gorgeous aesthetic, a lead that uses his brains, combat slippers— I am the pitiful dog who laps up these kinds of stories. Just look at it. So metal.
  • Sakamoto Desu ga?: Has a chance of overstaying its welcome, but dammit it's hilarious.
  • Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou: ...I want some tonkatsu.
  • Kuromukuro: Looks like a keeper. I always like it when animators make the effort to give the characters little tics, makes them feel more alive. Odd samurai guy elevates it from competent to legitimately interesting.

And I'm also thinking about watching An Happy. When I get the drive to do so.

Definitely watching Jo Jo Di U.

I really want Kiznaiver to be good. I liked KLK, but Trigger's last 2 shows were rather disappointing for me.

Not sure about the rest. I read a few chapters of Big Order, so I might give that a look. I found Future Diary at least entertaining, so we'll see.

Big Order: Interesting visuals and wow, that is some awkward writing. Not watching

Also, Kuromukuro doesn't seem to quite know what it wants to be. You have this mecha plot that's ridiculuous, but the character writing is something out of those dramedies that PA Works normally makes. It's kind of jarring

List still hasn't quite come together, especially with all these delays
