I wonder when the memes will begin. Cure Sunstroke is already a meme on certain parts of the internet but still.

I have watched the first episode and here's my review:

I CALLED IT FROM DAY ONE WHAT KIND OF DUB IT WAS GOING TO BE!because blatantly announcing that they would cut eight fucking episodes wasn't already a red flag enough for the "let's see before we judge" people...

end of the review.

Thanks for nothing, Saban...

It is HEAVILY edited with scenes moved from episode to episode and even more changes than even I was expecting.

So you're saying it sucks because it's not an absolute beat-for-beat copy of the original?

Apparently so.

And it's understandable. These Cut And Paste Translation styles are just plain unacceptable by today's standards for anime. Not even 4Kids were this bad.

Sure, Smile isn't that story heavy in the first place, but Glitter Force just makes an already forgettable story worse.

[up][up]...What does "beat-for-beat copy of the original" even mean?

[up] a full blown faithful dub of the original.

Something that even the Blue Water dub of the first season was, aside from some name changes.

I hope Im not out of line by saying this mr Deadbeatloser (God that sounds so rude, I dont intend this to be rude). But dubs dont have to alter everything about a show, even to appeal to little kids. The First Season of Precure was dubbed way better than this and it wasnt a weaboo fest. Why are we still doing this in this day and age. People say this will appeal to little girls, but I doubt it. It will probably be the next Mew Mew Power.

Im kind of offended by the implication that a faithful dub is too much to ask.

I'd have thought Haim Saban was out of the non-Digimon anime business forever, but it seems not...

I expected that people wouldn't like this, and so far from what I've seen in this thread, to be sure it has happened. Memories of that time when Fox Kids was all anime dubbed by Saban Entertainment are probably coming back to haunt everyone (or, for the older folks in this thread, Eagle Riders and Macron 1)...

So basically we're not going to judge this show on its own merits and just declare it to be the worst thing ever because it's not a carbon copy of the original. Got it.

[up] Except that it doesn't have its own merits because it's a poor dub.

It pretty much isn't Precure anymore, and feels more like the Mew Mew Power of Precure dubs at this point.

It is a faithful dub from what I've seen though. Like aside from some changes in terminology, the addition of some jokes, and minor alterations it catches the spirit of the original pretty well. Sure it's not an exact one to one adaptation but that doesn't stop it from being good in its own right or from being faithful.

So I decided to go about reviewing the first episode in a different way.

I recorded my thoughts and reactions and put it into an MP3 file.

I really enjoyed it.

I dont hate Glitter Force but I dont love it either. I dont think it will catch on. People always say "Cmon, this dub is for little kids, they'll eat it up!". And One Piece,Doraemon,Mew Mew Power,Magical Doremi,Digimon Fusion,LBX show just how wrong this way of thinking is. They all flopped miserably and only One Piece got a Rebirth of sorts in the Funimation dub. Its not just anime, Winx Club was mauled by 4kids and flopped until Nickelodeon bought the show and made 3 Specials to make up for the horribly dubbed first 2 seasons. Im not saying its unethical, Im saying its pointless and useless to alter anime so much.

And Im not agaisnt censorship or even dialogue deviations.

episodes 10,17 and 19 have been skipped because they are about Japanese cultural stuff.Because when you release a foreign production for a streaming platform like Netflix, you HAVE to change and westernize it so the rest of the world can understand it...unlike all those anime and foreign productions that you can watch on Netflix untouched.Oops...

oh,and the Italians, where Precure have been popular from the very first series and always produced faithful dubs, are noe stuck with this version as well.Thank you,Saban. They really needed that...

I miss the days when Saban was dormant under Disney's vault...

[up] Careful with those words. Disney's treatment of Saban's IPs are so neglectful, that Primetime Fox would treat it better.
