I'll buy it, because everyone else is going to buy it, but I get the feeling I'll be disappointed.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Eh, looks all right. Honestly, I'd be a lot more into this game if we were playing literally anybody other than Batman. I'm suffering from a bit of Batman fatigue these days. Plus, I could never stand Catwoman.
I still wish we were playing Renee Montoya.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."They should've gone with Adam West's Batman...
That kid could be Anarky, I suppose. If so, he looks like a less evil adaptation than most of the others he's gotten, which is nice.
It looks like one of the things the player's actions can influence is how corrupt Dent's campaign becomes.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I'm probably wrong about this and I'm sure Tell Tale have some idea of what they are doing but I feel that out of all the characters they chose that could be playable, Batman himself was one of the worst.
Batman himself is such a Badass Normal that the very mechanics of Tell Tale's games would make it feel more restricting to play as him because he's capable of so much on his own. He is NOT vulnerable and it's hard to imagine him as such unles they completely undermined his abilities. I kind of expect to see plenty of Worf Effect and Badass Decay just to make the game feel like there's high stakes involved or Batman's in a real tight spot. I predict they will downplay his Crazy-Prepared aspect or remove it at worst. Only way to justify him being the playable character is to give so many more options and choices that Tell Tale isn't used to giving.
A better choice would have been someone weaker than him. Like Renee, any of his sidekicks, a Gotham thug working for any of the supervillains in a Villain Protagonist kind of way, Catwoman, a doctor in Arkham, hell, even a regular citizen in the mad, mad world that is Gotham.
But Batman? With him there's no danger, no risk. I doubt this game will have too many flaws but if it was going to have any major ones I feel that he would be one of them. Sure if he wasn't playable (Not saying he shouldn't be but not for the whole damn game.) people would likely complain but look at what happened with the Batmobile.
Of course it's too early to tell but the more I think about it, the more I realize how badly it could get screwed up.
I suspect QT Es where you generally just kick everyone's ass.
This looks like Batman's early years, where he did have a lot more trouble taking on threats and had a lot of lessons to learn.
Even so, the extent to which Batman is an unbeatable badass normal who can't possibly lose face against organized non-powered opponents varies considerably (this isn't the Arkham series, for example) and is generally the result of hype and reputation than actually something that's costant and typical of the character.
Batman works perfectly fine being vulnerable in settings like this all the time.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.True. It also has to do with the antagonists he'll face. It's theorized he'll be facing more intellect based enemies.

Makes me wonder what telltale will do for their Marvel game. Though to be fair, Marvel does have a lot of down to earth characters that could work in a telltale game.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Does anybody else want to see Telltale's Runaways as much as I do?
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Telltale's Howard the Duck. Because he can be adapted in a way that either doesn't suck or isn't a stinger cameo.
It's been 3000 years…Like maybe based on the current run where Howard is a detective? That's been really fun.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"As long as Patsy Walker and Squirrel Girl can show up too.
Oh God! Natural light! On Batman being too good to play as, I just finished Wolf Among Us and that situation works just fine.
I would adore a Telltale's Howard the Duck. Or Telltale's Squirrelgirl. Also Telltale's Rocket Raccoon & Groot. At this point, Im just listing my favorite comics.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI don't know about that. Bigby's sense of smell did get nerfed.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"I blame any "nerfs" he got on the fact that he was absolutely exhausted for the entire story.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI have to wonder if a Telltale series based on Tolkien would be any good, myself.
Oh, as far as The Wolf Among Us? It actually enhanced my enjoyment of the comics, given that (since we don't get many flashbacks dealing with that subject matter, initially anyway), the Snow/Bigby relationship at first tends to come off as a Romantic Plot Tumor.
How so? That's a relationship built through the story. By definition, it's not a romantic plot tumor.
And the comic does provide flashback to their time in the homelands.
Anyway, first episode was fun. Anyone else played it yet?

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaire
A young-looking man was talking about a revolution, I kind of put two and two together.
It's been 3000 years…
