By "read" I mean "look at and comprehend the meaning of" irrespective of whether it has any words.

I prefer the Prince/Ali MIGHTY IS HE image, for what it's worth.

The OP is cluttered, and even though I've seen that show, it took me a few seconds to realize that it was the same person in panels 2 and 3.

Are there any more potential images out there? Or should there be a crowner between the two existing options?

If nothing else is suggested, a crowner's good.

^ Not sure if the first is actually part of the trope. The second is a variation on Not in the Face!.

I follow RWBY, so I understand the first image, but I can also see that I'm using my knowledge of the show to interpret the image. For example, the second image is probably chosen because Yang's eyes only turn red when she loses her temper. How would someone who doesn't follow the show know that? It's just a girl staring. The hair in the first image isn't obvious enough to make it clear that it's the cause of the rage. It doesn't exactly take centre stage, which the trope image would need.

I don't like 10/12 because I think that's very open to interpretation. The hand could be raised for any number of reasons, the other guy's expression could be for any number of reasons. It would rely heavily on a caption to clarify the image, at which point it's the caption doing the work, not the image.

Not a fan of 30 either, for reasons already stated by others.

I don't know, what about something like that episode from My Wife and Kids, where the guy gets crazy hair and won't let anyone touch it? Something like this, but better resolution and not so dark (I just cropped three images and put them together as an example, but the entire scene is full of chances for cropping a sequence, if anyone's better at it than me).

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

I think, in 10/12, it is obvious the guy on the right is about to touch the other guy's hair. It is true that the hand could be raised for any number of reasons, for example to defend against the incoming-from-offscreen bucket of red paint.

Yeah, but the big problem is the person he's going to touch. It's really not obvious that it's the hair that's the issue. A caption would have to explain it, and the caption would be doing all the work.

That argument is about how the caption would do half the work, and concludes that therefore it would do all the work; so that's not true. (I disagree with the first part anyway, though. I think a caption could do way less than that, for instance merely clarify that the glare is related to the impending hair touch. My suggestion is only one word.)

I have yet to hear any reasonable argument against 10/12. I have also yet to see any other suggestion half as good.

I prefer 10/12 as well. Thought I had already posted about that. It's clear enough to illustrate the trope, and clearer than any other suggestions.

Here's a crowner for the suggestions.

Since the crowner had reached consensus, I put the image up. Hope that was okay.

If so, does it need a caption?

[up] When the image was suggested, a caption suggested for it was "No." Seems simple and to the point.

I was thinking of "Don't you dare" just to make it rhyme with the trope name, but short and sweet works too.

Little "No" works.
