CoLC crossover RP, main thread

Ben glanced at Louie and nodded. "Let him rest," Ben told the Pokemon trainer. "He had a crazy day today and I think he needs it too." He looked back towards Eve and Arcade, who were following him, and a slight grin crept onto his face.

"Hey guys," Ben told them. "Y'know what'd be awesome? We should head up to the new arcade. I wanted to check it out. Y'know, if we actually got it. And if there are people in danger on the way there, then we can help them! How's that sound?" Ben asked.

As it turned out Valentina wasn't actually a regular citizen of the city, she was actually a part of the challenge to save Silanea's village...? Chise couldn't quite wrap her head around that, but she figured that the fact she could actually die for good meant that they likely needed to keep her protected to some extent. The more she found out about the situation, the more confident she felt in her idea.

"Rex, let's go. We can't waste too much time." She said, still holding the book about Silanea and Valentina's world.

"Hmm..." Elias muttered, now starting to sound a little curious. "Yes, the more we delay this the longer it will take to solve this problem."

Immediately feeling the need to jump to my own defense, I called "I didn't realize they were affiliated until you guys started talking about it." That was a lie, I found out this morning, but the shorter the time gap the better the alibi. "I thought maybe I should bug him about it just to confirm it and, well, apparently they are."

At the phone, I whispered "Why did I agree to this. If I get in trouble because you two start a jailbreak I will kill you both."

While everyone in the Library were bickering, Kokichi took the time to gather some information. It was mostly eavesdropping and the occasional snooping around, mostly around the center desks. Lots of interesting things going on there. Look at that, that's pretty neat.

As people started to leave, the girl in charge of the place ('Tairee', apparently) decided to drop the bomb that this Valentina person was very susceptible to death while everyone else was, apparently, not. And considering that everyone seemed to hate her...

"Just don't leave." Kokichi moved near Valentina, experimentally poking the bubble surrounding her. "If you don't want to die, you either need to kill and kill and kill, ooor never step foot outside the library. Easy, right?"

"That's great," said Rick, who looked rather bored with the affair. "I have a holiday named after myself too. Ricksgiving. Big event. Lots of parades and stuff. Mostly - and I'm just speaking for myself here - mostly I'm just offended that you think what you did is important in any way. I mean, what, you think you're the only person in the multiverse who's done shit like this?"

"But mostly I'm interested in the idea that you can die permanently here unlike any of us, thanks Tairee," he threw her a finger-gun with his free hand, "so after beating the shit out of a mental representation of you in Silaena's mind," he continued, non-flask hand now moving around his gun at an angle where Valentina couldn't easily see it, "I'm really more interested in permanently ending this than getting further bogged down in semantics about morality in a land where people probably still drop their turds in buckets."

"W-w-w-ait, you did what?" howled Morty, who glanced from Rick to the rather angry-looking woman in the bubble.

"Yeah, Morty, it was a big thing. I got really drunk - blared 80's power rock, it was... uh, the Cars, I think."

"That wasn't what I was talking about!"

"Well, I was talking more about your attitude against non-humans but whatever. And besides, I get the feeling we'll find a way to help the lamias" Rex was really pushing himself not to gloat about having brought back Silanea's village back to life because Valentina couldn't learn about it. But it was so tempting to mention it and see her reaction that he couldn't help but smile "And trust me, we'll deal with Tristen when we have the time"

Unfortunately, Rick was also dropping hints about Silanea's challenge... well, 'hints' was a weak word but he would spill the beans if left unchecked "Yeah, that was a good game, remember?" he said, winking at the scientist.

There were also some surprising news. Apparently Valentina wasn't a normal citizen. She had all her abilities—not like they were that big of a deal, Rex could only remember her setting Arcade on fire and well, that wasn't impressive—and would not reappear after dying. That didn't quite fit with the theme.

"So... she's the boss today? She doesn't look like a bomb to me"

Meanwhile, Makoto messaged Rex back after he sent her the picture with the alpaca. She wasn't sure what was going which was understandable but there was also that thing about asking for the fleshlight for emergencies. Running out of power in a magic city that broke the laws of physics was an unlikely possibility.

Anyway, it was time to go. Rex had had enough of moral dilemmas and it was time to enact his plan to make Makoto and Chise jealous of each other—he almost forgot the food and the flashlight while thinking about that. But first, Elias was also in a hurry. What a coincidence.

"Lead the way, pops"

"How horrible!" Gasping in a way that was less like a fainting southern belle and more like a crowd of toughs at a local biker bar, Hibiki grit her teeth and clenched her hands for the nth time as she once more got worked up. "Why that's horrible! Just because you're an immortal doesn't mean that's a crime! If you were a terrorist or a murderer that'd be different but you're definitely not those kind of people, Miss Qing! You can come live in my dimension if that's possible once the imprisonment is over! I'm pretty sure they can't catch you there!"

"Wow!"

Kokichi quickly side-stepped around Valentina and her bubble, planting himself right between her and Rick. His eyes lit up as he looked up at Rick.

"You went into somebody's mind? That's awesome! I wish I could've done something like that. I'd be a real...headcase."

"Here you go! Fifteen kilograms of clay!"

Yuna's complete nonchalance and genuine enthusiasm about carrying such an absurd amount of clay surely were disconcerting for that purple-skinned artisan, and while he was not one to reject an offer to help from such a clearly diligent girl, the amount that she had brought seemed a tad excessive.

"When I said 'as much as you can bring' I didn't mean you had to bring this much."

"I would've brought more, actually, but the bags kept falling off. This should last you for the next few days, yes?"

"This is enough for the next month! I don't even know where I'm gonna put all this! But nevertheless, thank you once more for your help."

"No problem! Well, gotta go now. Still need to find that woman, you know?"

"Yes, yes. Good luck."

"Thanks!"

And so, with a mighty leap, Yuna climbed all the way to the rooftop once more, leaving the craftsman to figure out just how to bring the bulky bags into his pottery workshop. She was really glad she could help people out, but she still saw no traces of Silanea. The lamia was really necessary for her plan, so she couldn't just stop looking, but clearly jumping blindly through the streets and rooftops wasn't cutting it. She needed a different approach.

She stopped for a moment and began to ask herself questions about what she was doing. Where did she need to look at? Where had Silanea been before? When was the last time she'd seen her and where? What was she likely to be doing at the time? It took her several seconds to finally come up with an answer, but at least she came up with one.

Minutes later, she arrived before the entrance of her destination. She took a brief moment to detransform herself and, completely confident that this was the perfect place to begin her search, cautiously ventured into the building.

"Hello?" she called out once she walked past the hospital's front doors. "Silanea? Doctors? Nurses? Anyone else?"

Eve | Outside Library | She Needs A Leash For Arcade

Eve looked at Ben and shrugged. "Sure," she said quietly. "I've never been to an arcade before. I've only ever read about them."

"An arcade? Not my style, but alright" Louie commented, and kept following Ben.

"Okay... So now what? You want to take your phone to the prisoner?" the militia guard asked Lewis in return.

"He is right. Since you are still under the other rules of the city, then I am obligated to keep you safe in here, so long as you follow the rules of the library" Miss Tairee said in confirmation of Kokichi's suggestion to Valentina. "And no, she's not related to the day challenge" the librarian added towards Rex.

"Like you kept yourself safe from me? And what if someone just kills me before you can react?" Valentina asked in return.

"That case would be an exception to the exception. Since your death would be in violation of the rules of the library, I would bring you back to life" Miss Tairee responded.

"So I'm confined to a library. I suppose there are worse places to be stuck..." Valentina muttered, before angrily glaring at Rick. "And just what are the rules of the library?" the sorceress added.

"Basically, don't try to fight anyone, and don't try to goad anyone else into starting a fight. Something which the rest of you need to remember is part of the rules, too" Miss Tairee started her answer, casting a quick and slight glare at Rick. "And also don't try to disrupt my duties. That includes trying to keep anyone else from trying to obtain my help" the librarian continued, looking back to Valentina. Miss Tairee then looked down at her keyboard, and tapped a couple of keys. With a blur, the soap-like bubble around Valentina vanished, and after stepping foot back on the floor, she took a moment to straighten her dress.

"Hmph. Well then, does this library contain any tomes of magic? I would like to have something productive to do while I'm stuck here" Valentina said.

"Yes, top floor" Miss Tairee answered. With one more quick glare at some of the others, Valentina started to make her way towards the closest staircase.

"Silanea?" a gruff voice asked in response from another room, then the door flung open carelessly as Dave stepped through. The Shadowrun troll glanced over at Yuna with an uninterested look. "The snake lady? She left this morning, following that teenager, Rex" Dave told Yuna with a dismissive wave of his hand.

Two, With Surprisingly Profound Caboose, Near Library

In Caboose's case, someone else was profitting on a war that he and his friends were a part of. Two couldn't have imagined something like that back home. The tyrants of past had a loose alliance and sometimes bickered with one another, but at the same time she and her sisters proved too much a threat to ignore. Perhaps someone smaller - like mercenaries or merchants - profitted on this, but that was the natural course of events.

But, his later words had her thinking. Strangely enough, she didn't remember that much from the past. She remembered her childhood and her loving parents, but it was a muddled memory. It always bothered her. Then, the first truly vivid memory was when they were marching on the castle of one of the tyrants. Truly weird. There was no doubt however that these men and women were evil in spirit however. "I wonder..." She hummed, more to herself than to Caboose.

"...it's funny, but... I don't remember much from the past." Two admitted after a while, wrapping the scarf around herself mechanically. "Like... the childhood. One said I hit myself on the head a few years back, and that made my memories muddled and confused. Do you remember your parents, Caboose?"

Phone

Garrett merely sniggered in response to Lewis's concerns. "Don't worry... I'm not that stupid so as to discuss that sort of thing in the militia's earshot."

Arcade was jolted out of his thoughts when everyone started calling his name. "Yes? What is it?" he asked.

"That's not my point and you know it!" I complained back into the phone, irritated by Garrett's nonchalance. Fuck you, man, I'm trying not to get arrested for your shenanigans.

Whatever.

"Yeah, pretty much," I told the guard, shrugging.

Hangar

Dragons, alpacas, and strange text symbols aside, Makoto's guess about the woman was proven right. This Valentina didn't look physically powerful, but it was pretty likely that she had a form of magic or other hidden skill that could be dangerous. And what kind of person thought that killing was okay if the person being killed wasn't human? Makoto was tempted to go over to the library to see things for herself, but they still had work to do here. And the Librarian banned violence in there anyway, so there shouldn't be a fight.

Outside Library

Caboose blankly looked at Two profoundly after she responded. She didn't remember her past much? Not that the blue soldier could remember much clearly before he went to Blood Gulch, but he still could remember select things about his family.

After a few seconds of thought to the rather simple question, Caboose gave an answer. "I also hit my head once... a few times," he started to say in a rather secretive tone. "And then there was also the time I couldn't breathe for a long time when my suit messed up and stuff, but I can still remember my parents. My dad died... a few years ago, and I think my mother didn't really get along with him too well. That was all before I joined the blue team and met all my friends though!"

He didn't really sound too concerned about his parents, though that was less apathy and more being Caboose.

"...ah."

Well, good news was she'd been received rather quickly. But... Silanea was not there. Which was not really bad, but... it was a bit more inconvenient. Still, it was more exciting that way! She had to track her down as soon as possible, or else... uhhh... Valentina would leave the library before she got there, maybe. First, since she was there and Dave was there, she thought she may as well ask him if he knew anything. Then, call Rex, because he surely knew more.

"Soooo... you know where they were going? Because I need her help with something really important."

Two, Outside The Library

"You poor thing." It seemed his damage was much more extensive than hers... and yet it seemed his memory might have been better anyway...? "All I remember is... loving parents. I know this might sound strange, demanding more, but it's like... I was sleeping a very long sleep."

With a sigh, Two shook her head. "Perhaps I'm thinking too much about it." Smiling slightly, the bluenette stood up and offered Caboose a hand. "Thank you, Caboose. For... hearing me out."

"Okay... Hold on" the militia guard said, then grabbed his walkie talkie. "Need help in the front courtyard. Glowing skeleton dude says he's got Garrett on the phone to talk with our prisoner" he relayed into it.

"Alright, we'll see if he's still feeling talkative" one of the pig orcs' voice responded.

The front door opened again, and Fastanook stepped out, placing a hand on his phaser and raising an eyebrow as he looked towards Lewis.

The pig orcs went to go see if Riddler was awake, or even still in the city for that matter.

"Nope, no idea. She had that group you could call if you have a radio, but I heard on the news she was disbanding them" Dave said to Yuna in an apathetic tone.

Outside Library

Well, Caboose couldn't say he remembered much more about his parents than Two did. A few details didn't make much of a difference. "Sounds like a dream," the blue soldier mused thoughtfully. "Sometimes my mind just fills in the gaps on things. My memory is a bit like that with when I first started serving at Blood Gulch. I know I've always been like I am now, but it's almost like I can remember being very different also. It's pretty weird, but my friends all tell me that I've been the same since I met them."

Seeing the offered hand, Caboose latched on and hoisted himself to his feet. Any other person would probably be on the floor now, but Two was the rare individual strong enough to compensate for his own considerable power. "Any time! I'm a pretty good listener, it's one of my greatest strengths. I don't think that was why they wanted me on blue team though," he said cheerfully.

Eve | Outside Library | No.

Eve looked back at Arcade and shook her head. "Not Arcade the person, but arcade, the place," she replied.

"Well, that was fun," said Rick, pulling out his portal gun and firing it at the wall as soon as Valentina was out of earshot.

"W-what was that for, Rick?" asked Morty, looking somewhat annoyed. "I mean, that was - that was really bad, Rick! Now she's gonna - be on our tail, or something, and-and I mean, it's not like you have a spotless record when it comes to dealing with other species, and-"

Rick shrugged. "It was fun."

Morty blinked and pursed his lips at that statement. "C'mon, Morty, I gotta go - I gotta go try something out," said his grandfather, firing his portal gun at the wall. Morty followed Rick into a hole in the flow of space-time...

... and emerged, blinking, just inside the entrance to the prison. High walls filled Morty's view for a moment before he looked around and realized where he had wound up. "Goddamn it," came Rick's voice from nearby, followed by the tap-tap of screwdriver against metal. "Oscillating revertebrations..."

'W-where are we, Rick?" Morty tapped his fingers together and tried to take stock of his surroundings, which resembled nothing more than an everlasting a monument to the school of neo-Brutalist utilitarianism, if he knew what that meant. He didn't, and so to Morty it looked big, and prison-y, and, well... like a prison.

"Huh. Looks like the portal gun still has some kinks to work out."

"Oh jeez, Rick, I dunno if-if we should be here. I mean, what if someone mistakes us for criminals and- and throws us in jail or something?"

"Don't be ridiculous Morty. What, are you saying that there are people out there that would do that to us?"

"Well-"

"Lemme rephrase that, Morty, are you saying that there are people out there that would do that to us successfully?"

"What the!?-" Fastanook turned around and looked at Rick and Morty in the lobby. "You two? How'd you get in here? And what the heck are you talking about?" the gremlin asked of them.

From further into the prison, a group of other militia members were just arriving, coming towards the entrance due to the call from the guard out front earlier. "What's going on here? I thought you guys said there was a pink skeleton, not..." one of them looked at Rick and Morty, searching for words for a moment. "A scientist and some kid? And what are they doing here?" he concluded, himself and the other members of the group grabbing their holstered phasers just in case.

"I don't know, but they seem to think we might arrest them? For some reason?" Fastanook said in a confused tone. "Why don't you two just leave? Then we won't have any problems" the gremlin suggested, pointing over his shoulder to outside.

"Ah, okay. Thanks anyway!"

With a friendly wave, Yuna bid Dave farewell, and she left the hospital just as quickly as she entered it. Since the troll doctor had nothing about Silanea, she had to try the next person on the list. She pulled her phone back out in a flash, and proceeded to type a quick message for Rex. Surely he'd at least have a clue as to where she could ask next.
