Eh. Pretty, but not much else. Direction is trying to be arty but doesn't quite get it. The actual writing is a bit sub-par, with annoying characters and unnecessary narration
Yeah, they slapped a bunch of filters on this thing, but I don't think they really know how to use them effectively. Also, the fact that the main character is a milquetoast, personality-less high school boy is really grating. Also, that opening monologue was… not well written.
Sakurako's dialogue is ridiculous, but it kind of fits her character, so I'll let it slide. What I won't let slide is the fact that the police just kinda let her sail into their investigation and tell them what to do. Really?
also lol

The first thing I noticed about this anime is how incredibly pretty it is. One of better looking anime I've seen this year.
I found the first episode to be quite interesting, a mystery show with emphasis on forensics. I like Sakurako, she's a antisocial genius type, but she's just so cheerful. Unfortunately Shoutarou is obnoxious and whiny, and seems to only be there to have someone that Sakurako can explain things to.
Still, I liked it quite a bit, so I'll keep watching.
Watched the first episode. Couldn't help to be reminded of the American show Bones. Sakurako is like a more cheerful version of Temperance Brennan.
I assumed that the first episode was just introduction to the characters and concept and future cases will be more engaging.
Haven't seen the original source yet. And even at that, my Japanese is N5 level. Which means I can only read bits and parts of it.
I don't know if the trope page is up yet. I dunno if Sentai will leave it alone or put an English track later on when the Japanese airing is done.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"I can understand why people get annoyed at the male viewpoint character. He looks a lot like the "ordinary (dull) high school boy who is the only one who can understand the loney genius girl lacking in common sense and becomes her guardian". Two things save this however: 1) there's no romantic relationship, though this might change and 2) at least things start off with their relationship already established, rather than having to go through the tedium of their origins.
That the police lets her interfere with their investigations, eh, that's part and parcel of the genius amateur detective genre.
The page is now up, but it's partially incomplete since I made a boo boo in posting it up too early.

"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"I don't get annoyed at him cause he's dull. I get annoyed since he whines all the time.
Thanks man!
Yep. I'll need to do the character page really soon unless someone wants to do it.
I'm heading to sleep now.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"It's annoying to me more that some of his complaints are legit while the rest is useless whining.
This was a good ep, kid did step up when needed to.
I'm really wondering about Sakurako and Shoutarou's pasts.
I think this episode probably helped any that had complaints about Shounen from the first episode.
My thanks to the person who did the redirect and added a trope to help.
I did edited it to add the specific episode name.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Shotaro for the win when he took down the drug addict with his martial arts.
And Hiroki too for restraining him despite having a knife wound.
And it seems Shotaro resembles someone Sakurako knows.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Okay, the second episode was a lot better than the first one. Better characterization -Shoutarou wasn't nearly as whiny and was useful for a change- and the case was a lot more interesting.
But wow, the case this time was brutal. Child abuse, terrible living conditions, psycho junkie murderer, it was all rather dark.
Hiroki, you are terrible cop.
I was relieved that they didn't find the girl identity by Sakurako looking at her bones, that'd be stupid. Also, it was nice to see her worried about Shoutarou, dress the girl up and generally be pleasant.
And of coruse the episode was gorgeous.
Psycho junkie murderer dad.
It seems this show's trying to keep stuff as realistic as possible.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Yeah, this show seems rather grounded in reality. There's none of the usual outlandishness to the crime, so common in the genre, just sad reality. Even Sakurako deduction skills aren't overblown and only reveal what can actually be found with them.
Found the LN copies (How I did it is top secret). 7 in all.
I'm going to go over it. But my N5 Japanese is not going to handle it.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Nice.
Eh, good luck with that.
Thanks brah.
I'll go and read up on the LN images if any.
Update guys: The stuff is actually a novel series... And someone corroborated it for me in another site, which means the trope page needs to be updated to the Literature category.

"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Redirected and indexes fixed.
Thanks Arha.
I'll go and see if I can index it somewhere else.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Are the novels over or still ongoing? Would be nice if we can expect this adaptation to be a full one for once.
Copbro's pretty based.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - Sue
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru aka A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet aka Beautiful Bones. Whichever alias you wanna give it, it's got a crazy osteologist solving mysteries with a high school boy with whom she has an ambiguous relationship. Discuss.
