I'm getting the image of something like this.

At a certain point a movie is just a movie, we shouldn't look at them as being life changing experiences. Take your absolute favorite movie and try to replicate how you felt when you first watched it, it just doesn't happen that often. And if it comes close, it's still not as exciting as that first time. With Thor Ragnarok I can't help but think we've already done Thor vs. Hulk, we've also done Hulkbuster vs. Hulk, Thor vs. Iron Man and at a certain point you lose the novelty. That was a big reason why Amazing Spider-Man never really caught on, both movies were repackaging characters and events and neither felt all that fresh, but just repackaged.

For all it's faults, when Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman take on Doomsday, the little kid in me smiled as I realized this was actually happening. I had similar feelings with the Justice League videos: a deep sea probe stumbling upon Aquaman, a convenience store camera catching the Flash in action, a video journal showing the creation of Cyborg. This is just cool stuff. I'm excited for Justice League because it's Justice League, Avengers are cool enough but THESE are the characters I grew up with.

I'm excited for Wonder Woman because it's Wonder Woman, I'm grateful she's finally given her due and I want to support that. Holding back by fearing the movie is going to be bad just gets in the way of tapping into the little kid who just wants to see her kick ass.

[up]I agree also I like to go into movies either with no expectations or thinking it's going to be good.

If I go into a movie with the excectation that it will be bad I'm going to hate the movie.

If I go in thinking the movie will be good I'm going to like it.

I'm excited by the prospect of a solidly good entry in this franchise finally, so I'm looking forward to it. Hoping it does reasonably well at the box office as well.

[up]Considering how forgiving people were of the more contentious DC entries, a genuinely good one should do just fine.

If they pull off the tricky task of defining Diana's character, portraying how the war breaks her down, and not going into complete melancholy or an inappropriate tone (Again, this isn't World War II. You can't do the Captain America/Rocketeer approach here with obvious bad guys, period musical numbers, and that sense of adventure), then people will probably flock to see it.

I genuinely believe people want these films to be good. We do! That's why Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were so frustrating.

I dont disagree, is just for people who enjoy at least Bv S it can be annoying since the thread have become pretty much a flame war cesspool and 2 thread were lock, if anything good or bad I just want to ever to talk like any other normal thread.

It's cool, not the greatest movie poster but definitely evocative of comic book covers.

There is no credits scene. The reason is that they didn't like feeling pressured to do something they didn't want to, so they decided not to.

I'm fine with that. The use of The Stinger has gotten excessive, and often just muddles up the actual ending of the story. Both mid credits and end credits of Civil War added very little to the narrative, in particular Steve gets a heroic final shot in the main movie, and shows up again in the mid credits to promote Black Panther. And some of them like Age of Ultron's stinger are pretty generic and useless except saying "It's coming."

The best stingers tend to be ones that actually fill in some leftover story, forgotten character or big reveal. I liked the Suicide Squad stinger for that reason, showing Waller doing damage control and Wayne leveraging that for information. If it was another Deadshot or Harley and Joker scene it would be pointless.

I'm fine with this, I think I only liked two end credits scenes in my life and it is from movies that have the main characters Breaking the Fourth Wall by talking to the camera a lot.

Those two movies are Wayne's World and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

[up][up] Eh, I'm fine with no post-credits scene, because there's no way they could top Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 having five post-credits scenes (yes, they deliberately went overboard).

Both mid credits and end credits of Civil War added very little to the narrative, in particular Steve gets a heroic final shot in the main movie, and shows up again in the mid credits to promote Black Panther.
He actually shows up again so that the audience has some closure on what happens with Bucky.

Was just going to say, maybe KJ Mackley has a point with the Spider-Man scene but the midcredits scene was way more about wrapping up Steve and Bucky's side of the story than it was about shilling Black Panther.

^^ I was saying the issue is that we got a heroic final shot of Steve in the main movie, which is sullied by showing him again two minutes later, his face banged up still (indicating it is before his rescue of the Raft prisoners) and having him step into the background as the movie says "Black Panther is awesome." There is just little reason it couldn't have been blended into the main narrative.

And that's the issue with The Stinger, it's always "Wait, here's something more" and almost all story momentum is dead. The better stingers are the ones that work as atmospheric, self contained scenes that are either there for a closing gag or set up new story points.

This doesn't actually give any more details about the movie or anything, but it's a Wonder Woman promo all the same, and I thought it was funny. It aired during today's episode of Supergirl.

Spider-Man: Homecoming doesn't come out until July 7, so I don't think they will have an accurate measure over which movie has the bigger weekend until...well, until each movie comes out.

And god, I hope Wonder Woman kicks Pirates ass. I'm sorry: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Search to Make Johnny Depp Likable Again.

[up] IMDB ratings are dubious at the best of times, and before a movie is widely released are less than worthless since most of the people rating the movie haven't actually watched it.

Given this is the sixth spider-man movie and even 5 years ago people were cracking "Jeez, enough already!" jokes about the series, I can actually see WW being more anticipated.

I actually prefer IMDB's ratings but yeah before the movie is out doesn't work though you technically can't vote until the day the movie releases.

IMDB is useless for movies based on existing properties because there are people who will either upvote or downvote properties based on brand loyalty. Case in point before Civil War was even out, there were irate DC fans who were giving it bogus one star reviews claiming they'd seen advance screenings just because they were mad about the reviews BVS had gotten.

And of course there are legitimately shitty or mediocre movies that get rave reviews from fans for those same reasons. Basically, anything that's primarily user-run is gonna be stupid.
