Why not? The 1983 version was a remake too.
…I'm not sure what he meant by that, but I hope it's not what I think… >.>
There's gonna be an uproar if they scar LDC's face. But it can be interesting I guess.
"Why not? The 1983 version was a remake too."
Paul Muni and Al Pacino, Leo ain't.
Leo's a better actor than Al Pacino nowadays, so I don't see the problem here.
Not sure if I should ask for a correct re-titlement of the thread due to that typo.
Anyway, my concern is not with Leo's acting abilities. It's more about the story itself. Will the setting be the one in the original, the one in the 80's version or one in these current times? How will they portray the relationship between Tony and his family? And so on and so forth.
Well, it says in the article that there will be a setting update to modern times.
Ah, ok. I probably skipped that part when skimming.
I'm... not raising my hopes for this. At least for now.
Huh… if they keep Montana's Cuban origins, it could be interesting with the recent developments. Though I don't remember how much that impacted the character in De Palma's movie…
The war on drug has gotten quite a bit more brutal too since the early eighties.
Is it modern day? 20s? 80s?
"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsThis one is the definitive Scarface.
And I think the 1980s Scarface might have been what ruined Al Pacino as an actor. Nothing but Large Ham ever since.
Anyway, my first random feeling is that this is a pretty interesting idea. If we're going to endlessly recycle things, better we recycle great classic cinema than recycle comic books.

With all due respect to Paul Muni, Al Pacino IS Scarface. Tony Montana. As for whether Di Caprio is a better actor than Pacino is NOW, well, that's debatable at best. He's sure as heck not as good an actor as Pacino was THEN.
Guys, this story is probably fake. There's no other source for it aside from the article linked in the OP
