St. Anne Academy of Magic (SUs always open!)

Is there any discourse between the Magical community and mortals? Would there be like, part-monsters born out of a human and a humanoid monster, or a human that can turn into a monster? And like, what if a mortal's able to do some impossible feat that doesn't require magic? Would the academy pick them up out of interest, or only if they can pay for it/academic success? OR, what if they pulled it off and the academy thought they were an incidental hero and took him in, but he's just a mortal who got lucky?

And uh, how frequent are the monsters (do they roam around forests or cities or are they and underground society thing?)

Monsters and Mages are just another ethnicity. Like it says in the OP, there's some discrimination against them, but it's stigmatized. Heroes, Monsters, and Mages can make a lot of money doing jobs that normal humans couldn't. Of course, there are some parts of the world that are less friendly to mortals, and some that are less friendly to monsters, and some where being a mage can get you killed. But that's how it is in most of the world.

The results of unions between mortals and monsters vary by species. In other words, do what you want.

If a mortal can do something normally considered impossible, that usually means they're a hero. But of they weren't, they could conceivably recieve a scholarship for that.

Monsters aren't as common as mortals. The exact percentage varies a lot, but it's rare for a community to have more monsters than humans. Mostly because they just don't reproduce as fast. But they can be part of society. Problems sometimes crop up (If someone is murdered in a small town, people are gonna search the local vampire's house first. But they probably won't just arrest him if they don't find anything), but overall, a Monsters enjoy the same rights as everyone else.

• Name: Julia Altano
• Gender: female
• Age: 16
• Element: Death. Its mark is a simple, black skull on the right shoulder.
• Appearance: 5'9", taller than her older sister in fact, lanky build, very pal skin, have dark circles under her eyes, has jet black emo hair, blue eyes
• History:
  • She was always told 'she was destined for greatness' this, 'great powers comes with great responsibility' that but from a young age, she never really gotten why is that so, she'd just stare and giggle mindlessly whenever her mom blabber on about the death element of power. With that being said, though, Julia was usually the subject of frequent, 'friendly' bullying from her big sister. She knows that her sister meant no actual harm, it's just that she could just...well...tone it down a bit? Well, she knows her sister is holding it back because she treats her nicely every once in a while, like giving her ice cream or taking her to the amusement park, and she knows how she acts if she truly meant harm, like her doings towards their mom and stepdad(well, her sister's stepdad, he is Julia's biological father), lots of arguments and shouting that Julia didn't really care for, not that she can really do anything anyway. It's strange too, Julia's dad treats her well, always reading books to her and teaching her some subjects on 'monster, mages, heroes, stuff like that' and she valued the time with him but he always seems cold towards her sister.
  • In terms of her school life, she's usually the quiet kid at the back of the class reading some book thats leaning towards spooks and love and listening to music, nothing too out of the ordinary. Oh! And she had a pet black cat too named Sabrina(because, you know, witch, black cat, geddit?) and she plays with her all the time and the cat always asks for cuddles and stomach scrathes, their friendship was undying. Well, emphasis on 'was', it died from...internal bleeding? hemorrhage? Cat ST Ds? What did the vet diagnosed it as? Whatever it is, she knows it's bullshit because she knows the symptoms of a complete vampire drainage when she sees one, she recognized it but she's not really sure to even believe it, as she previously thought all that supernatural stuff is just children's shits, besides, her father also said that he's going to fix this himself and said that "Someday, you too will fix this, and beyond." After that, she buried Sabrina in the backyard, she locked herself into her room and listened to every emo album she has on cycle and repeat, skipping school for a week straight, being mostly lifeless and limp on her own bed.
  • Then, one day, while she was looking at the makeshift grave for 42nd time(she counted), the loose dirt suddenly shifted. No one was nearby and no wind strong enough to disturb, so it spooked Julia to say the least. It's not the least of the strangeness of that day, when she approached closer and dig up the dirt, she realized that her cat is animated again. It's moving, it's meowing! It's also undead but Julia gives no fucks as she hugs her so tightly and lovingly because she's glad that she's back. This is also good news for her parents because now her daughter is qualified to go to a prestigious magic school of St. Anne Academy of Magic. Well, both of her daughters, the elder one is technically qualified as a hero...after she managed to knock out her stepdad who accused her of being a vampire...and admitting that she knock two strong as fuck hood rats out...oh well, send her too, ma thought, perhaps as a guardian angel, especially considering that Julia is going to be away from her loving mommy!

  • For now, she can animate a dead cat and make it do basic commands like sit and roll over...
• Skills:
  • Well, she does academically well back in her old high school...except for chemistry,she couldn't really wrap her head around that stuff
  • She also dabbles a bit into writing from time to time, though she fucks around a lot when it comes down to it

• Name: Felicidad Altano/Rodriguez
• Gender: female
• Age: 17
• Type: Erm...both? Depends on how you see the history below but here's the summary: natural because Felici has been lifting weights since 15. Incidental because she didn't really lift for combat, it's more for football(or soccer for the yanks) and aesthetics, she realized her heroic potential when she pull around two hood rats like a war axe and run around them like a cheetah on crack.
• Talent: Exceptional strength and speed.
• Appearance: 5'8", even she have not reached the end of puberty yet, she still rather insecure about her being a 'womanlet'. Brown hair tied up to a ponytail, dark brown eyes, tanned skin and has the definition of a "bro who lifts with the emphasis on the glutes and legs and does cardio and does a 'If It Fits Your Macros' diet but with B-cup boobs'.
• History:
  • Felicidad was born under a different father, a 'hood rat who will fucking run from anything if it meant an end to his gangsta life', so described by her mom when Felicidad asked about him and that ended her curiosity fast. Not that her stepdad is any better. At a young age, although she may not recognized it, she was rather neglected in order to shower her sister with attention, so she turned her attention towards her peers instead. Strangely, she tends to play more with the boys than with the girls, she said that boys are more chilled and bro-ey. Also, she bullied Julia a bit because, well, the kid looks a bit too soft, nothing like a good noogie or two will make her more bro.
  • Fast forward to her high school years, while the arguments at home rages due to both puberty and teenage angst, at school she's the football captain, leading her team to the top of the school's national tournament every year. She would hang out with her bros(and occasional girls from her team) in the gym and lift some heavy weights. There was one girl that she actively wanted to hang out with: the cheerleader captain named Sherane. It's that African American energy that radiates off of that girl, sweet balance of sass and sweetness, and that feeling has been reciprocated as well, which is surprising to her boys, since she always play hard to get as a friend, much less girlfriends. Their status as friends has turn something...closer.
  • One day, the family cat was found dead on their frontyard, looking like it was sucked dry and it freaked Felicidad Felicidad out for a while, but a few days later, she got a text from Sherane, saying she's home alone and bored and wondered if she's up for 'Netflix and chill'. Of course Felicidad is heading to her house right away, borrowing her momma van and drove her way down to her hood. She is excited and her mind was all racing with what she going to do with her and then her eyes caught two gangsters in black hoodies standing guard besides Sherane's house parking lot. Almost immediately they ran up to the van at speed she has never seen before, tore off the door and drag her to the street to interrogate her while she is prone on the floor with her head held down with Air Jordans. At first they shouted her questions she couldn't really understand as she laid there whimpering barely yelping for help. Then they calm down between themselves and asked:
    • "...If you dont tell me where you from, it's a wrap! I'm sorry-"
    • "Aight, hold on, hold on hold on, homie, I don't think this bitch don't understand anything about everything we just said. You see, it all goes down like this: We. Are. Vampires. The Eastside Ruckus Vamps Family to be exact, so wave your flags at our colour, bitch. Your family, have been fucking killing our boys for being vamps, and nothing else. And you've being fucking around with my sister like that? Girl, you being disrespecting-As a matter of fact, fuck all this, Imma suck you up dry, hang your dangly ass corpse to your house and tell your dad to get the fuck off our turf. Like, what the fuck, you don't get the message from that shrivelled up cat on your yard? Now you boys gotta learn-"
  • And then, something happened. Felicidad does it but she never really think it, it's more of riding her own body without actually controlling it. When that vampire turn her over and tried to bite into her neck, she grabbed him by the chest and managed to hold him there for long, and the vampire looked more worried over time. The next thing they all know, Felicidad managed to push the vampire off the body, then counter his buddy, who was trying to knock her out with a punch, with a right hook on his jaw, lots of dodging and undisciplined brawling but eventually Felicidad came out on top, her opponents lied unconscious on the floor and she endured a black eye, a minor head trauma and bleeding lips. She looked over to the house and saw Sherane looking at the scene, scared shitless out of her mind. As much as Felicidad wants to, she can't talk to her then and go back home immediately with a beat up van. She told everything to her dad and asked what the fuck is going on, only to be slapped for her answer and get reprimanded for not only being silent about her relationships but also not knowing that her girlfriend is a vampire and part of the gang. Then he goes on a tangent about her little sister is going to fix everything that's wrong with the world, held back by the likes of Felicidad "Oh, but I doubt someone like you could understand, mortal faggot." Next thing they know, the living room is a fucking mess of broken furnitures and weeping man under a flurry of fist, begging her to stop. Welp, on one hand,she learned that her dad is a mage and he controls life as an element, which is why he managed to last so long in that relentless beatdown. On the other, she kick herself out of the house and lived with her bros for a while. But that don't matter too much, she was asked by her mom to go to a private school with her sister as a hero, apparently for her supernatural strength and speed. Meanwhile, Sherane went to the house Felicidad temporarily stayed in and gave her an old prepaid flip phone, she said she needs something cheap and disposable in case something happens. She claimed she was coerced into this plan and was very sorry with what happened but she said she still wanna keep in touch with her. And no matter what, she loves her. Felicidad wondered if it's love or stupidity but she accepts it anyway and said she loves her too, although she can't say that her opinions of her didn't change...

Abilities: Abnormal strength and speed that's on par or above the supernaturals.

• Skills:
  • Well, she can cook but not in a 'I'm going to make a delicious cake and lasagna' way but rather 'alright, today I'm gonna stock up on baked chicken and brown rice for the next 7 days to fit it in my macros' kind of way.
  • Plays football and can juggle a ball with her foot.
  • Have a large knowledge of music of mostly every genre, in fact, that emo C Ds Julia have? That's Felicidad's hang-me-downs. You can thank her bros for mistaking American Football to be a bro music for starting her curiosity for music.

Julia is accepted. As for Felicidad, it really comes down to where her powers came from. If it was from the weightlifting, that'd be natural. If it was from the stress of being in a fight, that would be incidental. It sounds kinda like the latter, so maybe Incidental?

Name: Nicholas Oakley

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Element: Fire. The symbol looks like this◊, but he's gone so far as to put a phoenix rising from the ashes as a tattoo under it, to signify his use of it as a more helpful tool.

Appearance: Nicholas is 5'7", understandably shorter than his sister. His hair is brown, with a few streaks of red in it, cropped to just above his ears. Like his sister, he has blue eyes. He normally wears a plain red t-shirt, black jeans, and red and white sneakers.

Personality: Nicholas is a warm, kind-hearted person. He has a slightly...unhealthy obsession with phoenixes, as they use fire as a source of life and rebirth. He's also very naive, easily trusting people and trying to help them in any way. Regardless of him being a people person, he's quiet, friendly and polite as much as he can be. He's also got a strong sense of loyalty, and will immediately rush to the aid of anybody he considers a friend. All in all, he's a dedicated, loyal, friendly person, with naivety and a bad judge of character as negative characteristics.

History:

• Being born with the mark of Fire, Nicholas dedicated himself to use it for the good of everyone. He knew that fire is often seen only as a tool of massive destruction, but he wanted to prove that fire could help and heal as much as it could destroy. He was always that kid that tried to be as helpful as possible, no matter who needed it. Of course, that fact that he's been taken advantage of because of that same trait never changed him the slightest.

• He's been home schooled for the majority of his life, but that never stopped him from using his free time to go and make friends. Still, there was only so much he could do with his own creativity to learn how to use his powers for the good of everyone. So it was only natural that his parents decided to send him to Nocturne Academy, and he couldn't have agreed with their decision more.

• Spells:
  • Cauterize: By using fire to burn an open wound, Nicholas is able to sear it closed and destroy any bacteria on it at the same time, preventing infection. Of course, it's rather painful to the recipient, but leaves no scars.

  • Warmth: Nicholas manages to emulate the feeling of being near a warm, cozy fire, making anyone near him feel more comfortable and helping to ease pain a little.

  • Spark: Although he considers any of his abilities being used in violence a waste of his potential and against his modus operandi, he can use this little spark as both a utility, such as lighting candles, and defense, for setting clothes alight or giving a mild burn etc.

• Skills:
  • He has first aid training.

  • He's also a decent cook.

  • His diplomatic skills are not to be underestimated.

"In my way? Not for long. I'm the quickest draw. Ever."

• Name: Victoria Oakley

• Gender: Female

• Age: 17

• Type: Natural. She trained with the katana extensively, working on precision and speed.

• Talent: Victoria is an amazingly fast swordsman, using extremely precise movements and strikes to hit a target when they least expect it. Her hands- and blade- move faster than the normal eye can keep track of. She's a master of Iaido and other styles that focus on quick draws and cuts.

• Appearance: Victoria is tall, around 5'7" with cold blue eyes and long blonde hair that's neatly tied into a bun. Her skin is very light. She's normally caught wearing a blue tank top with tight fitting jeans, white sneakers, and a loose unbuttoned black trench coat.

• Personality: A stark contrast to her brother, Victoria is not a people person. Whereas he is selfless, she borders on the selfish at times, focused solely on her goals and improving herself even more. She's calm, intelligent and composed. While she is rather self centered, she's not unfriendly to those that meet her approval. Also, she cares deeply for her little brother, and she WILL think that anyone that messes with him is a grave offence to her. She also the one to be painfully honest and aloof, and won't hesitate to speak what's on her mind.

• History:
  • Victoria was always 'Daddy's little warrior' since she was young. Being a Heroic swordsman himself, it was only fitting that he trained her in the ways of the blade. She found more excitement and potential in the use of the katana and its techniques from Iaido and other styles than that of the traditional swords that her father wielded. However, she never really had much of a social life, a choice that she made and still believes in.

  • Just like her brother, she's been home schooled. Unlike Nicholas though, she didn't exactly leap at the chance to go to Nocturne Academy, but went so for the sake of her little brother, and to go to the very same school her father had gone to.

• Abilities:
  • She's able to hit a target that's further away than her katana's reach by merely drawing it and sheathing it so fast that it's nothing but a blur.

  • Co-ordination: Her cuts are extremely precise, hitting exactly where she wants them to almost every time.

  • Speed: She's fast enough to be nothing but a blur. It's especially seen in her hand movements, which tend to border on being invisible due to their speed. That said, she prefers to not waste any energy by moving unless absolutely necessary.

  • As a result of her speed and weapon of choice, her cuts have extreme cutting power as she uses speed and velocity to their maximum potential.

• Skills:
  • She's good at organizing things.

  • She's a skilled gymnast as well, though certainly not the best.

Last bout of questions before I start thinking up people to use.

Can an Incidental Hero lose what makes them what they are, like if the trauma manifested their power in a limb(s) and they lost it/them at some point? and if so, would the Academy still have them if that was the case?

Would sibling mages be born under the same sign? What about twins? Does the Academy accept problem students i.e. kids who use their powers for more harmful reasons?

Well, here's a thing in progress. I'm putting Isra in a folder as I'm not sure I'll use her.

• Name: Adrienne Wilhelmina Penn
• Gender: Female
• Age: 17
• Element: Light. The symbol looks like this in a sort of silvery-yellow◊ and it's located on Adrienne's right shoulder.
• Appearance: En garde!
• History: Adrienne is the daughter of a Heroine (with heroic weapon-crafting powers - she was the one who made Adrienne's magic bracelet and accompanying weapons.) From a young age, Adrienne's mother trained her to be a protector of the innocent and a sword of justice, always ready to put her life on the line to help others and defeat the wicked, or something to that effect, though Adrienne's father did not agree with that. Adrienne herself grew up to be a very hard worker, though she often acts flighty and silly, and she has a huge love for terrible puns and cool hats.
• Spells:
  • Cutting Light: Adrienne can fire a laser from either her own body or from something reflective that she is touching (for example, she could touch the bottom of a full-length mirror and launch a laser from the top.) These range in width from about pencil-wide to being roughly 2 feet wide, and have varying power output.
  • Light Sphere: Adrienne can create spheres of light, from the size of a ping-pong ball to basketball sized. These can generally be maintained fairly easily, but Adrienne can 'detonate' them in a burst of light and some heat to create a sort of magical flash grenade. The reflective-surface effect also applies here.
  • Invisibility: Adrienne can cause an object to become invisible. This is not limited by her touch, though touch certainly makes the task easier. She can generally only make small-to-medium sized objects invisible, though she can make larger things (such as herself) invisible if they do not move.
• Skills: Adrienne is very physically fit, with excellent balance, agility, and strength for her size, and she's a skilled fencer. In addition, she's a very good at sewing and her singing voice isn't half-bad.
• Items:
  • Magic Bracelet: Adrienne's mother created a magical bracelet for her as a sort of going-away gift when she enrolled at the Academy. It is a thin chain of interwoven metal and some kind of cord, with a small charm hanging from it. It is extremely durable and resistant to most forms of attack and magical manipulation, and will resist being removed from Adrienne's person or being moved more than three feet away from her if she takes it off. It also acts as a sort of Hammerspace object, which at the moment stores two weapons. Only Adrienne's mother can make it able to carry other things.
  • Adrienne's Sword: A light rapier made of an enchanted metal. It has a thin, very strong mirror built into the hilt, so that Adrienne can use the blade to launch attacks.
  • Adrienne's Chain: A magical chain that can be used to attack opponents or manipulate objects. The full length of the chain is roughly 50 feet long, though Adrienne can control how much of the chain is out of hammerspace at a given time. The chain's movements are controlled by the bracelet, which in turn is controlled via thought. Unless Adrienne's specifically holding onto the chain, she cannot use it to launch attacks.

I think it's fairly clear what inspired Adrienne's powerset, heh.

• Name: Al Berners-Lee Turing Kahn
• Gender: Agender. Golem. Prefers male pronouns from his name.
• Age: 17
• Species: Golem
• Appearance: Al is a big guy (FOR YOU), standing at 6'11". He is made of a dry, rough, beige clay. His body and legs are thick and hulking, but his arms and hand are noticeably more dextrous and thin. His face is pretty basic and sort of resembles the Gingerbread Man, with round, thick features and a pronounced forehead. His eyes are square and made of black glass; when he does anything "computery" the UI displays over one or the other. His chest has a square groove in the middle; this section can be removed to reveal the two desktop computers inside of him for maintenance.
• History: Al was created by a half-dozen mid-90s Phreakers as an attempt at fusing science and technology. One of these Phreakers was a Mind Mage and a Jewish Rabbi, and together with a collective of basement nerds sculpted a clay body, augmented with various (at the time) state-of-the-art electronics. They brought Al Berners-Lee Turing Kahn to life, and... actually raised them as they would a child, having read a shitload of science fiction in their lives. Al grew up with that same science fiction, learning about his own cultural background through the writings of both historical sci-fi writers and the autobiographies of acclaimed Golem writers. His 6 "parents," for lack of a better term for them, knew that that knowledge could only get him so far, however, and so they sent him off to St. Anne to learn to live his life in a community of other similar individuals.
• Abilities: Since Al was animated with Mind magic, he is essentially a consciousness inhabiting a body. He feels pain, but never enough to be crippling or debilitating. Any parts he loses can be replaced by just patching on new wet clay; the magic holding him together dries it up within an hour or so and gloms it onto the rest of his body. A different spell from another one of his creators also powers the various electronics inside his body. He will need to recharge the electronics sometimes, but he can do this simply by touching a power outlet with a fork or letting himself get struck by lightning every once in awhile. He is not Three Laws-Compliant, but has the phrase emet, אמת, "truth" in Hebrew, written on his forehead; if the last character is erased the word becomes met, מת, "dead," and he falls inert until the character is reinscribed. He doesn't fall inert on Saturdays, but still has to observe the Sabbath as a Jewish creation; he is literally incapable of doing any sort of "work" that day.
• Skills:
  • Computers: Al has a pair of computers nestled in his chest: one holds a webserver that hosts his website, and the other holds everything else, like schoolwork and coding projects. He interfaces with both via a keyboard implanted in his right forearm and a literal retina display in his eyes, but he also has an A/V output in the palm of his right hand if he needs to show people something.
  • Engineering: Al was raised by six different well-accomplished computer engineers. His computer has both wired and wireless connectivity; given time and peace of mind, he can penetrate most mundane electronic security systems, though he has trouble negotiating any sort of magical security functions on a computer. He also, supposedly, can just do more legit computer projects, writing codes and macros for whatever else he needs to get done. His machines are 90s-era IBM terminals, however, and need to link to more powerful computers in order to get things done on a larger scale.

• Name: Marianne Chu
• Gender: Female
• Age: 15
• Element: Stone
  • Mark: five small grey circles in a pentagonal pattern at the base of her neck
• Appearance: In a word, scruffy. Short, spiked hair, raccoon eye makeup, jeans or leather pants (unless there's a school uniform), leather jacket with studs on the shoulders and elbows. 5' tall, dark eyes, thin build.
• History: An orphan Marianne was bad news to the authorities from as soon as ahe was tall enough to reach people's pockets or pick a lock. When her powers developed she was shipped off to St. Anne because they didn't think a regular reform school could deal with her. As is she is under "disciplinary observation". Define that as you wish
• Spells:
  • Stone Skin: she can make a layer of hard yet flexible material form all over her body
  • Call the Rock: Able to call stone up from the ground to form walls and other crude shapes
• Skills: Good at sneaking and stealing (picking both pockets and locks). Has recently started learning to hack computers but only has basic competence at the moment.
  • Despite the above she's not Book Dumb, she gets mostly As and Bs

• Name: "The Marvelous" Marvin Martinez
• Gender: Male
• Age: 16
• Appearance: Marvin stands at an incredibly imposing 5'1". Along with his immensely intimidating wide baby-blue eyes and chubby swarthy face, Marvin has the appearance of a 10-year old. He has grown his chestnut brown hair long in the front to cover one of the eyes, in an attempt to look ~mysterious~. His favoured garb of choice is a traditional black and white magician's garb, as he grew up in far hotter weather so the heat doesn't bother him.
• History: Marvin Martinez was born to a large family in New Mexico. Life was far from easy so Marvin learned to fend for himself. He learned from other children how to be quick of hand for 'magic' and quicker of foot when the 'magic' was a bit less magical than advertised. However, despite his tricky tendencies, he was rather quick in the classroom as well, enough so that he was able to earn a scholarship to St. Anne's. Hoping to earn more money by attending such a prestigious academy, he set off to the school, not quite prepared to enter into a world of real magic.
• Personality: Marvin is very docile and kind. At least, that's how he presents. He rarely talks back to someone. Well, to their face. After all, he's a lover, not a fighter. He despises violence, mostly because he is far too weak to be on the dispensing side. He is petty and can hold a grudge, although does his utmost to hide this. He will cheat and steal, as long as no one's looking. He wants to make friends that will have his back, without them needing him to have theirs. Above all else, Marvin is a survivor and will do what he can to save his own hide..
• Skills:
  • Magician "Tricks": Marvin is a veteran street performer, even at the age of 16. He has a penchant for the act and can do plenty of tricks (ILLUSIONS!) such as change-behind-the-ear, pick-a-card-any-card, and pull-a-rabbit-from-a-hat, among many others. Whether anyone versed in true magic will fall for these is a case-by-case basis but they do help Marvin cop a coin out of a few silly fellow mortals.

@undyingPhoenix, accepted. That said, Nicholas' powers are a bit skimpy. If you want them to be that way, that's fine, but you're welcome to beef them up a bit. Like if you wanted to make Cauterize not leave scars, and Warmth can maybe work one a bunch of people at once, that would be totally fine. As for Victoria, she's probably accepted. But how fast is her speed? How long can she keep it up? Can she attack while running so opponents can't hurt her?

@Truth Hurts 22, it depends on the hero in question. Some of them could lost it that way, but others could learn to use their powers in another way. Heroes in general are almost always very strong willed. Their powers either manifested because they were working hard on a skill they wanted to improve, or because they had a very strong will to survive, and many have both traits. So most Heroes wouldn't let something as petty as a missing limb(s) slow them down. That said, peopel can change, and there are exceptions to every rule. So don't take that to mean you can't make a lazy hero with no spine if you want!

As for would the school accept them, they'd handle it on a case-by-case basis. Probably yes, though they do have a limited scholarship budget, so it could go either way.

I knew someone would ask this, and I actually thought about it long and hard. Magedom is indeed heriditary. If two Mages have a child, it will usually be a Mage. The element of the child is often one of the parents, but there are a lot of exceptions. The figure is about 50% it will be one of the parent elements, and 50% it will be some other element. Children of Mages and Mortals are often Mages as well. In that case, they're also more likely to inherit the Mage parent's element than any other. But the chance of it being a random element is a lot lower.

That said, Mages can also come from union between mortals. It's just kinda rare.

@Karrin Blue, both accepted. I like Isra a lot, I'll be sad if you don't use her. That said, I do need you to define how much energy Adrienne's spells expend. They seem kinda strong, (which is okay since you only have two), but they still seem like they could be kinda OP if she can cast them as many times as she likes.

Right, I made a few changes then. Nicholas's Warmth is an area of effect centered on him. Let's just say that Victoria prefers not to move unless absolutely necessary, and since she uses Iaido, her running attack is simply a wide angle single hit by quickly drawing and sheathing the katana as she dashes forward. Think Vergil from Devil May Cry, and you'll be spot on.

I probably will end up using Isra, because I really like her as well, but I need to come up with a good personality and backstory for her first!

Also, Adrienne's energy use... Hm, I'm not sure how to define that? I mean, she can't throw out giant attacks willy-nilly, of course - the foot-wide laserblast would wear her out very rapidly, and making a large flashbang sphere would be tiring, especially if she needed to do that a lot.

Just my opinion but I would say that human natue being what it is, some elements like Light, Birds, etc. would be better viewed than others (Slime, Mold, Bugs)

@Dem Kimochi, it's really on an individual basis, but it's not likely anyone will actively discriminate against someone because of their element. It could happen if you wanted it to, but it'd be rare. People don't typically see any element as more evil than another. Some are considered more useful for different purposes, but that's about it.

@sgtpendulum, @Nickthe Swing, when do you think would be a good time? Would tomorrow, or perhaps wednesday, be alright?

Generally an RP should start a) when the GM feels prepared and b) when the GM feels there are enough characters. So! What do you think?
