Chapter out:
Oh wow, an unexpected turn of events. Didn't think this series could do that!
Thanks. …Yep, Asta does sound better in English. For the little we hear at least.
Surprised me as well. Nice to see that being the hero doesn't guarantee him the win.
They even allowed him to still kick the other dude's ass, so even though he lost, something still came out of it.
One Strip! One Strip! It was all worth it to see that little shit get his ass kicked.
Well, it's Yuno time now.
Episode 4 thankfully has very little AAAAAAAA from AAAAAAAAAAAAsta.
And thankfully in this weeks chapter he agrees thatAAAAAAAAsta is being naive.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. The English dub trailer is out. Asta's voice is remarkably less obnoxious there
Lol. Yuno op, pls nerf.
That's what Asta is there for since he can literally nerf anyone.
Let me just say once again that after years of rivals who look down on the hero, having one who has nothing but respect for his rival from the get go is a bit refreshing.
Sure, it's still the same old The Only One Allowed to Defeat You schtick as with most rivals, but you usually need to build up to that point. Asta and Yuno are probably much better friends than most rivals and I kinda like that.
One Strip! One Strip!Yuno has a different expresion for once.
Huh BC really is getting better.
This was a pretty good ending & the victory is actually celever & makes sense.
I'm sad we don't get more focus on Yuno.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yuno is my favorite character. If there's one element that makes Black Clover stand out it's their ability to create a rival characters who's as cool as advertised.
Find this interesting especially when he make comparisons to MHA, which seems to be becoming quite common

"Asta makes A Silent Voice seem like an appealing work of escapist fantasy."
Oh boy, this is horrible.
The comparision he makes with Heroaca is a bit ironic, since… the first season of MHA's anime wasn't exactly super fast-paced, if I'm not mistaken (though granted, it wasn't "3 chapters in 5 episodes" slow).
Having read the first volume of the manga out of curiosity, I do get his point about the pacing, but I still think padding the prologue was a wise move… mostly. There's admittedly some unnecessary stuff in there, but showing more of Asta and Yuno together at least was welcome (especially since they go to their respective companies very early on).
Speaking of the first volume, I guess it somewhat lessened the bad impression the first chapter had made on me... It definitely has problems, but I'm starting to see its appeal, somewhat. For one, I've gotten used to the art, which I wasn't a fan of at first, and there are some pretty good character moments and comedy. The Black Bulls are a rather likeable bunch and hell, even Asta has a few endearing traits, like his awkward politeness and impressionable side. Then there's Noelle… okay, how many chaps before she falls for Asta? I mean, her design is cool, but she goes from "haughty noble bitch" to "proud Black Bull" in like a chapter and a half. And… I 'm pretty sure she had an Early-Bird Cameo in the anime that wasn't in the manga?

Only ten chapters in and although its entertaining its doesn't have quite the samee 'heart' that got reading Naruto or MHA
Yeah this series doesn't have much heart & its weird it still lacks that heart sorta even to the current chapters.
I think that's what people mean when they say BL feels manufactured by bigwigs & such. It just doesn't feel truly genuine a good amount of the time.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Man, I'm glad I skipped the anime. The manga is serviceable, but from the sound of it, anime is just crap.
I heard someone describe it as either a poor man's Naruto or a rich man's Fairy Tail.
I think what it lacks so far is that Asta's reasons for wanting to be Wizard King aren't as heartfelt as Naruto and Deku's To Be a Master story arcs.
Naruto: wants the tittle to be acknowledged and latter takes it up as a mantle of responsibilty.
Deku: Wants to inspire others just like All Might inspired him.
Asta: To destroy the elitist system. While this is not bad, if anything its like Naruto's latter 'Break the cycle of hatred' it comes off as Asta doing it as a whim rather than something intrinsic to his character and makes him as a person, whilst the previous two what they want to achieve and why are woven into their very DNA as characters and affects every action they make.
Also, why does Asta know so little? Dude doesn't even know what a dungeon is.
Because its the obligatory shonen protag is an extreme dumbass cliche so we can dump exposition on him for the audience's sake.
When I read that the guy doesn't even know what a Magic Knight does I face-palmed cause how can you want to be something yet bother to learn nothing about what the job actually entails?
He is definitely the dumbest shonen protag I've ever seen.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He is a ffffffffffff-ing peasant from the boonies afterall.
Also Asta is dumb. Very dumb. Dont know what a double date is.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Thing is none of the other orphan hick kids or even Magna who's a hick himself come off as that stupid as well as that Yuno actually is smart cause he just simply reads means Asta has no excuse for his dumbassery.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He is definitely the dumbest shonen protag I've ever seen.
And unlike Goku, Luffy or Naruto he has absolutely no excuse. If Yuno can know all this stuff so can Asta.
…It mystifies me that they feel the need to country-block a trailer. Like, seriously?
