That's a pretty cool pic, is it from anything?

Can't say it doesn't illustrate the trope pretty darn well.

OP's picture is a WIP. This is the final result (from here

When I looked for where it came from, I found the artist had made a colored version.

OK with the OP pic.

OP is a creation of this individual. Do we need approval?

My personal pick would be the OP (even over the coloured version). However, if we can't get permission, perhaps Zenyatta from Overwatch? [1][2]

[up][up] That's interesting...on par with the OP suggestion for me.

9.1 looks pretty cool.

Both 9.1 and 9.2 are good. The second would probably look better if the background was white instead of off-white, though.

I like the OP version. The colored version looks cool too, but the original one has a more sort of "iconic" (in the religious sense) look to it.

[up][up] Done. [1]

The original is a transparent background. Meaning, it can support any colour or image as its background. For instance: [2] tongue

[up]I kind of prefer that one, now that I think about it. 3D renders (or what looks like it) does well with robots, and emphasises the mechanical aspect, compared to the more fluid nature of hand drawings.

The OP is still great, but considering that's a full piece of work, I think it's better to use a character from a game. Unless the artist is okay with it, of course.

I don't much care for either of the suggestions from 9 because they could easily be just "magic from meditation" rather than worship. The OP definitely shows a praying robot and so has the edge in my mind.

The only better picture I could think of would be The Bishop Of Verdus, from the 2000AD comic book story about Sam Slade, robohunter. The Bishop is a robot, but dressed in bishop's robes and hat.

Unfortunately, I can't find a picture using Google search, so currently I support the OP.

Looks like either one of OP's suggestion appears to be the clear favourite. Has anyone been able to get permission yet?

I voted for the OP (I much prefer it to its coloured version) and I also like 9.2, so I upvoted it too.

I hope we get the artist's consent. :-)

This page definitely should have an Image Links subpage.

Nothing as of yet...I can't look at the artist's site(s) right now, is he offering the painting for sale? If so, we may have to end up using something else and moving it to Image Links.

I don't see that particular work being offered for sale on his website. However, he is a professional illustrator who sells his works. So, it's anyone's guess though I wouldn't be surprised if it had been on sale at some point since its creation in 2011.

Okay, it's been about two weeks since I messaged the artist on FB and I haven't heard anything yet, and I can't find the pic for sale anywhere on his site, so I've gone ahead and put it up and linked the source and artist's homepage in a caption. Actual caption or no?
