...Yeah, that's a bit odd. Not sure what the point of having the pilots be cute girls even is. I mean, this isn't the first attempt to mix gritty mecha action and moe, but it doesn't look like it's going to affect anything

Figureheads is a Free 2 Play mech shooter by Square-Enix coming to PC. I dunno how to ever describe this to be totally honest, it's like some weird mashup of Neill Blomkamp's "South-African Punk" with Love Live-esque cute moe anime girls.
It's certainly an.... odd aesthetic dissonance I'll give you that.
