[up] Alright in. Nice to see a town literally held together by scraps.

Blegh. I think I'm going to have to ditch the necromancer idea. I like it but I keep slamming into a writer's block with it for some reason. I might poke at it for a bit more as I ponder what to do next. But I don't think it's going to happen.

Tempted to join this.

My current idea was an area where all the mammals mutated to be more "dinosaur-like" with the humans basically becoming raptors wearing tops though still somewhat civilized despite their scarier appearance.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

[up] That'd be unusual. So like Deathclaws wearing clothes?

[up] I guess so, though they'd look pretty close to raptors except for the hair on the head (one of the things they kept from the mutation) and maybe a bit more dexterity in the front claws.

The main issue they'd go through is altering a town that was designed for a different body shape.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

A few questions. How are you going to run this game, exactly? Will it just be interactions in-between players, or will there be some PvE? And by PvE, I mean random factions and cities that aren't controlled by the players. How often do you think you will be able to corral player's actions into post? How long do you think this will last, and will you allow people to join after it starts?

EchoingSilence Since: Jun, 2013
#35: Apr 19th 2015 at 1:55:40 PM

Player vs Environment will be in there as well. The corralling of players will occur after a few posts when something from their interactions can be accomplished and after start signups will be fine.

I'm going to try and put something together at the last minute. I'll try to refrain from using my half crazy pyromancer.

Barring discussion of Paranoia indicates hatred of Paranoia.

Hatred of Paranoia is treason.

The punishment for treason is death.

Troubleshooters are on the way.

Have a nice daycycle.

  • Hero
    • Name: Cherno Alpha
    • Age: 100
    • Appearance: Cherno stands at 2.2 meters tall (7 feet 2.6 inches) and looks like this.
    • Personality: Cherno is old and irritable. He had been out of service for quite some time before being reinstated as an emergency measure due to the apocalypse. He does not care for what has happened to the world. He does not care for what the world once was either. He does not care for a lot of things. But he still protects what remains of his city.
    • Powers: Cherno is a combat robot designed primarily for melee. Due to that he possesses great physical strength and durability. He is also capable of moving at high speeds at least in a straight line. But is slow to accelerate and not too great at sharp turns.
    • Equipment: Twin Piston Tesla Fists, Twin shoulder mounted flamethrowers, Heavy Armor.
    • Backstory: Cherno is an old warbot hero. And while in service he had quite a successful track record. He was actually interred as a monument to himself when he was finally taken out of service, going to what he believed was a well deserved rest. Sadly, the apocalypse happened, and all the other robots and the like went the way of the dodo. So, what few remaining engineers did their best to get Cherno back in working order before reactivating him.

  • Base
    • Visual Style: Blocky metallic buildings. Some rusted or otherwise dilapidated. A small podium in the center of the main square where Cherno used to rest. Surrounded in similar far more ruined buildings.
    • Resources: Cherno's city has a fairly decent tech base, through much of it was ruined during the apocalypse. Their scientific division is basically reduced to a half dozen overworked engineers trying to keep the failing infrastructure working. They don't have much in the way of food or water. Though they can purify water pretty easily, they don't have any handy sources of it. They do draw a limited amount out of the air. What medical supplies they still have are of high quality, though replacing used supplies is somewhat difficult.
    • Quality of Life: Surprisingly good. Food and water might be scarce but they got decent health care, and a decent amount of entertainment and educational media managed to survive in the city as well.
    • Size: About two hundred people or so. The chunk of the city they're inhabiting is about a quarter of a square mile in surface area.

I had a thousand and one ideas. And it took me ages to settle on one. So, I am now inflicting a mini Cherno Alpha on you all! tongue

Hero

  • Name: Alexander Wilson

  • Age: 25

  • Appearance: Around 6 feet tall, he wears a leather jacket over a T-Shirt. His has short, untidy brown hair, and often leaves his pair of goggles hanging around his forehead. Of course, these goggles provide eye protection when needed. His hands are covered with a pair of black leather gloves, and he wears jeans and a pair of sneakers. A backpack is slung across his back.

Or for image reference, something like this.

  • Personality: He's rather cold, but cares deeply for his group of survivors. The decisions he's had to make have hardened him, and he will not hesitate to eliminate any threat to him or his group. Serious, to the point, and with a dry sense of humour, he's pretty cynical. Still, he realizes that if they want to thrive, they'll need contact and trade with other groups. He gets his priorities and compromises straight, ya?

  • Powers:

    • After drinking some strange vial of liquid he found, Alexander found himself being able to teleport short distances.

    • He's naturally good at sneaking around, from experience of doing it while scavenging. He's also very observant.

    • Alexander is trained in multiple styles of close range fighting. Just basics taught to him from others.

  • Equipment:

    • A combat knife. He, uh, "appropriated" it from a corpse.

    • A long bow, with a quiver of about 30 arrows. For the times when ammo runs low, or for silent kills.

    • A silenced USP 9mm and around 4 magazines of ammo. For when things get too hot for a bow. "Appropriated" from a gun shop.

    • His goggles. They provide SOME eye protection, especially against dust and other irritants.

    • A backpack. Can't be much of a scavenger without that.

    • An "appropriated" precision wristwatch with alarm. Pretty handy for keeping track of time while outside.

  • Backstory: Before the end, Alexander was nothing special. Just your average man, working in some office or other. After the End, he was forced to become who he was today. He made his way to an abandoned warehouse complex, making that his new home. Eventually, a few more people tagged along, some teaching him the skills he now knows today. Slowly, their small group grew, now bordering on a small community, taking measures to ensure that they don't have to worry if supplies from scavenging run out. As leader, he's had to make some difficult decisions, and has his fair bit of regrets.

Base

  • Visual Style: It's surprisingly modern, but salvaged. The actual base is a small warehouse complex, with one warehouse and some surrounding office buildings, all behind a wire fence. Repairs have been made to fix up the broken bits, using what they had at hand. They've also built a few things. A garden, rain collector, an outside workstation for tasks such as the filtering of water or preserving of food. A few watch towers now guard the complex from behind the wire fence

  • Resources: They're around current modern day level of tech, maybe slightly higher with their frequent scavenging. Thanks to a few doomsday preppers in their group, their systems in place for the production of food and clean water ensure they mostly self-sufficient in that area with their scavenging taken into account. However, they lack in the weapons department, mostly using civilian weapons with plentiful ammo. Some even use bows.

Quality of Life: It's hard at times, when supplies run low and threats beckon towards them. But in most times, they live quite happily and comfortably. They've more or less just made a bunch of rules that say you do the job assigned to you, and to always look out for each other. Still, there are always the ones creating trouble.

Size: The complex is rather small, but enough for all the basic buildings a small group of survivors would need.

I trust there isn't a problem with this sheet?

So I may as well put these two up, I'll be playing them as well.

  • Name: Jorge Soban
  • Age: 37
  • Appearance: The grizzled veteran. Jorge's helmet is similar in appearance to Aurea's, but proportioned differently.
  • Personality: Where Aurea is cold and distant, Jorge is warm and welcoming. Despite his imposing stature the man is a gentle giant - though like all gentle giants, he will wreck your shit if pushed too far. Often considered the "face" of the squad he, Aurea, and "Joker" make up, Jorge is pleasant to talk to and easy to place trust in people - though breaking it will not end well.
  • Powers: Same as Aurea - Jorge is entirely resistant to any form of psychic, psionic, or magical manipulation of the mind.
  • Equipment: While the knife and sidearm are the same, Jorge is noted for being the team's tank - he wears the super-heavy Palisade armor suit. While it doesn't carry a quite imposing minigun, what it does carry is a fast-firing mass accelerator almost lifted from a Hiigaran fighter - intended to suppress targets, with a secondary multi-grenade launcher. While Jorge's sidearm is capable of automatic fire, it is his only defense outside of the slow-moving Palisade.
  • Backstory: Jorge grew up in a fractured home where fighting was almost constant - something which hardened his mind. Avoiding the brunt of drama, he managed to sign on with the army at 18, in the hope that he was capable of getting away from home. Throwing himself into his duties Jorge eventually learned how to keep a home as his trade, and he served with distinction during the Vaygr War before being placed into Aurea's unit.

  • Name: Jeff Moreau, known as "Joker" to his friends
  • Age: 27
  • Appearance: Probably not a Mass Effect ballcap, but even the ballcap. Joker also wears a visor preloaded with spotting programs.
  • Personality: Joker is, as his name implies, quite the jokester. Joker knows when to stop carrying on, though some people not having a sense of humor means that his jokes harm as often as help. Joker is also very chatty, to the point where he has to be reminded multiple times not to break radio silence.
  • Powers: Joker shares Aurea and Jorge's ability to not be affected by mind control.
  • Equipment: Sharing the knife, grenades, and sidearm, Joker carries a Pulsar Rifle (which looks similar, but has a predominantly blue coloring). Essentially a miniaturized ion cannon, in exchange for short charge-up and cooldown times the Pulsar Rifle is capable of dealing a massive amount of damage over longer ranges, making Joker the team sniper. Joker's sidearm, however, is not on fully automatic - meaning he suffers in a close range fight, and is reliant on his teammates.
