I kind of wish there was a Punisher-analog character who specifically went after cops who beat or killed innocent people. It would be controversial but awesome.
Because there's probably no clearer class of people who are functionally outside the reach of the law.
When Matt Murdock isn't beating up criminals he has a sideline doing snarky music reviews
Trump delenda estThe Punisher-character who goes after corrupt cops is called "the Punisher." If you kill innocent people, he will kill you, no matter who you are.
As someone linked in this very thread, he murdered two people who were using their children for pornography, while the children were still upstairs. Frank Castle ain't got no fucks to give.
My various fanfics.Yeah. I believe (many interpretations of) Punisher does have an immense respect for cops, but so long as they are not corrupt. A criminal cop is still a criminal.
A surpising number of people don't seem to regard "shooting innocent people" as "corruption" by cops, but rather as just a thing that happens, or something the victims should have avoided by not taking out their wallet, or not being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or not looking suspicious, or not being black.

That is depressingly true.
It just make me wonder if the Punisher is the kind of character to go after a cop for that, or the kind of character to say, well, the kid shoplifted once, or smoked pot sometime, so he had it coming. Punisher's whole shtick is killing people for for crime.

I don't see any entries for the Punisher on Disproportionate Retribution. The movies portrayed him as sadistic and violent, but working off a cruel sense of what was fair. Killing a kid who shoplifted isn't fair by any stretch. Seems obvious that he would see killing the cop who did the deed the same as killing any other corrupt cop. I'd also say it depends on how penitent the cop is (one who clearly did it on purpose is dead meat, but one who was scared and thought the kid was going for a gun might not be). But that's probably a Depending on the Writer thing.
That's kind of what I would expect. It's probably a depending on the writer thing, but the Punisher seems to me like a crazier/badass version of Bernhard Goetz and by extension, a character out of right wing 1980s movies like Deathwish and Dirty Harry.
So I'd lean toward thinking he'd approve or be indifferent. I think the one thing that might bother him is the extent to which police officers lie/falsify evidence, but that's probably not enough to get on his shit list. The Punisher generally kills violent gangsters/cops affiliated with violent gangsters.

I think it is a Depending on the Writer case, but I don't think that level of Disproportionate Retribution is what he is associated to. He is more about going for gangs and crime-lords.
The Marvel Knights-era storyline Brotherhood was about Frank dealing with possible police corruption. Soap made his stance◊ clear◊.
There was a storyline where the Punisher started shooting litterers and jaywalkers (written by Bill Mantlo, I believe, who disliked the Punisher). However, this storyline was quickly retconned so that the Punisher had been fed hallucinogens by Jigsaw.
I think my favorite Punisher arc was when he went after some human trafficker/sex slavers full force. Those types of people are some of my most hated.
But yeah can't wait for the Punisher in this show.

The Slavers arc from Punisher MAX. Definitely one of the most important Punisher stories.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Speaking of people the Punisher shot, when are we going to get Stilt-Man?

Crow: There's a plot?I'm telling you, Stilt-Man will be the new Kingpin of Crime. Soon, all the fools squandering their lives away in this shithole we call Hell's Kitchen will look up and shout, "Save us!" ...and from his stilts, Stilt-Man will look down and whisper, "No."
Bite my shiny metal ass.
Are we sure that was scripted? What if Jon Bernthal just felt like beating up a cop?
