Suggestion: Scrappy Weapon

For Scrappy Weapon, I think it should be a picture of the Pyro from Team Fortress 2 holding the Sharpened Volcano Fragment, and the SVF stats next to it. The caption should say "Keep in mind that this is given to a class who's supposed to burn things...".

If we went with that, we'd have to explain that this is the class that regularly uses a flamethrower, and not an axe to set people on fire.

I think we are going to need a tooltip or something close to it.

Maybe a screenshot of a tooltip from FFXII of axes telling you it does completely random damage per hit? I can't find it using my googlefu though.

What about this image◊? Clearly shows that the Klobb is sucky, and I like the design.

We'd trim off the top, of course.

I like 5. It shows a crappy weapon (the scrappiness can be inferred easily), instead of giving stats and expecting an unfamiliar audience to understand what they mean and how it makes the weapon scrappy.

For as much as I think the trope can be illustrated without a lot of text, that works well enough.

What's a Klobb?

It's the fourth gun. That's a reference to GoldenEye (1997).

I like 5 as well, but I'm against using the weapon's name because nobody who hasn't played the game is likely to associate the name with the weapon, unless the caption specifically says that the fourth weapon is called that.

Instead, how about "Guess which weapon nobody ever uses?"

Perhaps, "Some weapons have slight 'performance issues'"

I think that's a much better caption suggestion, as it also alludes to its scrappy status. It's not just a weapon that's underperforming, but a weapon that's hated because of it.

I like 16. It's about as explicit as it needs to be, and points directly to the trope.
