Same here. Him and Baragon.
Definitely wanna see more Baragon someday. He has a cool character design and concept that I'd like to see more of. Might be why I like Baragon and Varan a bit, they both have interesting character designs compared to other kaiju.
In other news, we have some info on the upcoming sequel to the 2014 film: http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/03/27/godzilla-2-will-feature-only-one-returning-original-star
Ken Watanabe is gonna be coming back as Dr. Serizawa and O'Shea Jackson Jr. from Straight Outta Compton might be in it. I've seen conflicting reports on that one regarding whether he's in it or is lined up for it.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Well, of course Watanabe is the only returning cast member. He played the only character people liked in that movie who didn't die.
Well that and he plays a character who was in the original 1954 film and is arguably one of the most well known human characters in the Godzilla franchise, Dr. Serizawa (aka the only person in the entirety of the thirty films in the franchise to have successfully killed Godzilla).
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Watanabe's Serizawa is really the 1954 character In Name Only, though. I've always thought they should have named him after Yamane, since his role is researching the giant monsters of his world, rather than discovering sciencey stuff that just happens to be weaponized against them later.
That would've made more sense, but admittedly Serizawa was the most famous character from the original film so they probably thought "eh, let's just choose the guy with the eyepatch that killed Godzilla".
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? The movie more or less states 2014-Serizawa is just the grandson of the original character. Thus why they're so different.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."So the grandson of a version of Serizawa from 1954, but not the Serizawa from the 1954 film, correct?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?More or less, yeah.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Finally watched Shin Godzilla.
As you might expect from a Godzilla movie the human scenes comprise a lot (the overwhelming majority, even) of the film but thankfully I found them to be less boring and more interesting than the ones in other Godzilla films.
Godzilla himself was pretty great. I actually find his "larval" state to be scarier than he was standing upright, the huge dead-looking fish eyes and gills spouting gallons of blood was really unsettling.
It wasn't quite what I was expecting from the movie but I found it pretty satisfactory overall and I would say it was a good decision to get Anno to direct it in the end.

In real news, behind the scenes featurette on Monster Planet
Hey Toho, think you might want to put English subtitles on the featurette being uploaded onto an English language trailer channel?
Just a mirror from some movie site's channel. Apparently Toho's upload's only being kept up for a month because reasons
http://sidelongglancesofapigeonkicker.blogspot.com/2017/05/remembering-yoshimitsu-banno.html
Yoshimitsu Banno, director of Godzilla vs. Hedorah and executive producer of the 2014 Legendary Pictures Godzilla, has passed away. I can't say I was too big of a fan of Godzilla vs. Hedorah but Banno was certainly the most unique director the franchise ever had before Shin Godzilla.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Annecy presentation on the anime is apparently calling the movie "Planet of the Monsters" now
Shin Godzilla will get an Ameican Blu-ray release on August 1.
Finally, we get to hear what a competent English dub of a Godzilla film will sound like!
Anime Godzilla looks very Legendary-y https://www.cinematoday.jp/news/N0092165
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/godzilla-kong-finds-director-adam-wingard-1008773
We've got a director for Godzilla vs. Kong, and looking at the director's previous films, he seems to have a lot of acclaim behind him.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I'm concerned since he is an indie director and they have been known to be exploited by studio execs by giving them a big budget blockbuster after only one hit.
Anyway, found this video.
Good to see that some Practical Effects were still used in Shin Godzilla. Also, I'm actually surprised the CGI looks as great as it does with the budget they had.

This guy has had two films under his belt, I think he'll do fine.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?http://tokusatsunetwork.com/2017/08/iconic-godzilla-suit-actor-haruo-nakajima-passes-away/
Some rather tragic news: Haruo Nakajima, who portrayed Godzilla through much of the Showa series, has passed away. One of the original men in rubber suits, and for many people the man to portray Godzilla.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Polygon Pictures just get better with every product they put out.
And apparently, this Godzilla is supposed to be even more massive then Shin Goji.
Watch SymphogearRespect.
I admit, this might be worth looking at. If they're bringing in Dogora of all kaiju, maybe they should bring in Varan. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Varan.
