Visitors District - Around Visitors Terminal

Xia watched as the ashtray Sylvia was holding suddenly melted into a puddle. This woman was not human or at least had some sort of powers. Of course the blonde had some tricks of her own but didn't see the need to show them off. Not yet at least. "Sounds certainly fun." she responded to Sylvia's comment on attracting men and women and watching things crumble. "Of course I'm more in it for the money and power. Crushing hearts is just a bonus." she continued, "So what relationships are you trying to stir up?"

"Can you imagine an imaginary menagerie manager imagining managing an imaginary menagerie?"

Market Street - Arch Center (Jewelry Store)

Tsuki poked her head in again, and watched in mild amusement as the staff flinched again. Was she really that terrifying in her leathers getup? Well, who knew what the usual client in her looked like.

"You guys do realize you paid me in something that you are the only people I can actually change it for money with, thus defeating the entire point?" Tsuki queried of a staff member. "At least, in this city. I suppose I could fly off to some other city."

Gwion eased back in his seat with a sigh as the tension drained away.

At least the armoured man hadn't been vaporised or whatever it was the girl could do to make people "disappear".

He could hear her asking the couple if they were planning to take over the city.

"Forthright little tyke, ain't she?" He commented to the world at large.

He looked over at Ulf to see how he was bearing up after his reaction.

The armoured bloke asked about rental garages.

"Sorry, mate," said Gwion, looking up at him, "I haven't been here long and I didn't notice any between the terminal and here." He extended his hand. "Gwion's the name."

Museum Park

Garkin crossed one of the city's many bridges and found himself in a large rural area. He followed a path that seemed to lead to the other side of it, and took in the sights. The vegetation reminded him of his home, even if most of it was green, but the huge black structure looming over the park made him feel uneasy.

Still a great "screw depression" song even after seven years.

Zan's Diner
Foster shook his head quickly and nervously and turned to his companion, awaiting her response.
Rani turned away from her banana split, her mouth still half full, and wiped the whipped cream off of her mouth. It'd been only the second time someone had talked to her, and she wasn't entirely sure how to respond to a question so.. curt. Was the girl joking? Rani wanted to joke as well but she also didn't want to take her chances.
"No, I don't- I don't think so," she finally responded, a little more nervous than she was when she began eating her dessert. She swallowed again.
"Do you want some?" she asked, pointing to the banana split. "We got more than enough to share.. the desserts are out of sight here."

Zan's Diner

Whoever these kids were, they were packing technology far beyond anything Gwion had ever seen and the girl had a hair-trigger.

The boy seemed to be able to keep her in check but how long before she got out of control?

Gwion wondered if he should make an excuse and gap it before he got mixed up in another homicide but he didn't want to desert Ulf.

[Zan's Diner]

The fear mercifully started fading, he grasped the beast and metaphorically forced it back down into his core, hands grasping a little bit tighter around its furry body with each chant. The beast bucked and growled in frustration but little by little it sunk.

The wonderful smell of eggs and bacon met his nose as the waitress placed his brunch in front of him. Just in time. He gave the beast a little bit of rein and he dug into his lunch with the ferocity of a starved man, the silverware sat neglected. The beast calmed as he ate, the food sating it as it did him. Finally it reluctantly walked back down deeper, curling up for rest.

Color flooded back into the world and the plate lay almost empty before him. He took the mug of coffee in shaking hands and took a deep gulp reveling in the bitter taste, he was back in full control but shaken. Flamist and Energy were talking to the couple a crossed the diner, Gwion's eyes glanced over him.

"I'm okay now." he stammered. "I just..." he searched for the words to make the older man understand. "I just wasn't ready, I was in a memory and they reacted to Flamist, nothing is more appetizing to a predator than fear, something slipped, I just wasn't ready."

He sighed and tried to stifle the trembling of his hands. "Try to keep the peace." he asked nodding at Flamist. "They're good kids but power like that is dangerous even in the best hands." Like mine. "I'm not really in the state for complex thought right now anyway." he hoped Gwion would understand, "give me a minute or two and I'll be fine."

He picked up a fork and began working on the eggs, noting to be ready when the waitress passed for seconds.

Flamist looked at the ice cream and shook her head.

"I don't want any out-of-sight ice cream," she said, then looked at the girl. "If you aren't trying to take over the city, why did you take over the waitress?"

Energy, meanwhile, was still next to Ulf, looking at him worriedly.

"It's fine Mr. Ulf. Some of my friends do that too. I think you're a good guy too," he said innocently before taking his own meal of sausage and eggs and beginning to eat.

"Survival." Marie said, "That's a heavy word. But...that's true. If I hadn't ran into these three I don't think I'd be here now."

"Me neither." Adam said, looking at Nick, "I'm glad I met my friends."

"Hey, hey, hey." Nick said, chuckling, "Let's not get all touchy-freely already; we've just met!" He quirked an eyebrow at James, "So, I'm guessing you guys are being chased by something? Saving the world? On some kind of mission? Or am I looking too deep into this?"

[West Wing (Hole in the Ground)]

Kommissar could only watch as the demon and Echo went back and forth. At a certain point, the person in the gas mask got into a fighting stance. He made his own gesture of intensity by opening his coat to reveal a gun. The bounty hunter laid his hand on the butt of it. This demon-person had to know what he was dealing with.

He spat, "If you want to pick a fight with him, go ahead." The scarred man jabbed a thumb at himself. "But the wallet's mine. Otherwise, step aside."

[Hole in the Ground]

This time, Genocide only smiled through his lips, already looking more humane. In a slow transition, it seemed as if he was slowly switching appearances with another person—the bony protrusions receded into his skin; his horns, fangs and claws disappeared; his posture bent straight as a flagpole, and the few tufts of hair on his head multiplied into a rich, glossy scalp. The finished product very well could've leaped out of a magazine cover!

"While I'd love to see if that pea-shooter works," he eyed Kommisar, "I do believe I have an appointment to keep."

As the smile of Andrew Keystone was amiable enough, he still retained that feeling that he could attack at the drop of a hat.

However, he had kept his hands stuffed inside his vest-pockets the whole time, and would continue to do so, as his fingernails, glowing with a purple energy, remained a herald of the feral bestiality inside him.

Zan's Diner
Rani's eyes widened and her heart began to go a little faster. But before she could take the blame, Foster interrupted (and silently prayed to whoever that the threatening young girl understood sign language) and signed.
"It was my fault. I told her to do it, I wanted to show her it was safe for us to use magic. Perhaps it was rude to the young lady, but she is a servant and that is her job, and my friend needed to feel alright. Besides, we tipped her extra."

Flamist looked over at Foster. He was gesturing to her, she recognized it from a few other children she had seen from long, long ago. But she didn't understand it.

She turned back to Rani.

"Why did you take over the waitress?" she asked again, tone level.

Echo tilted her head. "Then go," she said. She still wasn't about to turn her back on him without a good reason. He switches one face for another, but still remains the same scumbag. I wonder how many he has? Wouldn't be the strangest freak in this town. And I wonder why he revealed that trick to us... probably some game he thinks is clever.

[Old City—Old Arena]

Koyel's response was a curt nod as he remained in a fighting stance. And the magic around him awakened with new life, eagerly sampling the arcane energies, now visible to the magically sensitive as an aura of stygian purple. No need to move just yet. The young and eager would show him the nature of their power and he would subvert and unmake it.

Scuttles hopped off of Gharboa's shoulder to find a safer observation distance for the fight, eventually finding a safe spot away from where the fight could take place.

All the while, Gharboa stood up completely straight, eyes closed and hands together, palm to palm with their shoulders outward to maintain balance.

The wind strangely began to pick up strongly around the arena, but it mostly encircling Gharboa as they concentrated. Dust and dirt began to rise off the ground and a hint of the smell of volcanic ash began to waff in the air. Gharboa stood unmoving while the wind and the accompanying materials began to surround them, obscuring the view of the reptilian while the wind in the rest of the arena began to pick up faster. No sudden moves, only concentration.

Already making his leave, Andrew scoffed, almost petulantly, at Echo's command. "Quite the master at subtlety, aren't you?" He sneered with his back to her.

[Zan's Diner]

"Joshua Rent." He took Gwion's hand. "A shame, there's a lot of sensitive equipment in that vehicle.... I suppose the best I can do is put it under a big tree somewhere in the park."

Out of the corner of his eye, Joshua noticed Foster's lightning-fast signing, quickly understanding his plea. "The mute says he made her do it." He quickly interpreted." In fact," He turned his attention to Rani, "I think it might be best to let his friend translate."

Zan's Diner
Foster's eyes dimmed, he always felt a little less powerful when people couldn't tell what he was saying.
Nevertheless, he turned to Rani ad repeated himself, who tried her best to paraphrase for him, but she changed a few details. "Foster- that's my pal here- says it was his fault, but I was the one who thought it up. The blame's mine."
Foster shook his head, he would take the blame whether she wanted him to or not.
"He says he wanted me to feel safe using magic here, because I couldn't do it back home. He says that maybe it was rude to her, but that she is a ser- waitress, and her gig's to serve us.. We felt bad afterwards, we tipped her extra.."
She paused for a second, feeling like she wasn't getting her point across. The spell wasn't really mind control was it? Was vocans server cool to use? Or were the books lying to her?
"The- the spell-," she tried to explain, "it means 'I call a server'. It's just a neat way of getting the waitress over here so she could take our order.. I usually charm the spell to make the reciever a little happier, so it doesn't hurt them.. the poor lady looked sacked.."
The more she spoke, the more Rani realized how fake she sounded. She lost energy with every sentence. Foster was showing defeat as well, with his head hung and shoulders in.
"We hadn't eaten in a while.. I guess we just got impatient. Sorry if we scared you.."

By the time he arrived to the area, Andrew had taken on a different smile. He wasn't as threatening, but the serenity of his face still managed to evoke the atmosphere of strangeness. Slowly, he sat down on a bench close to where Garkin stood. He noticed the reptilian being and nodded at him slowly, then proceeding to admire the trees.

Garkin nodded back at the human. "Hello there," he said. It was probably best to be polite. This human didn't look as strange as the others, but there was still something... odd about him.

"Do you know the way to a place called 'the Old Arena'? I've heard it's somewhere over there."

Garkin waved his arm towards the buildings at the far end of the park. He still felt a bit uneasy about the events at the diner, but thinking back, it hadn't really been that strange compared to some of the other things he had seen. Perhaps crash landing on an alien planet (in another universe at that) had caused him to overreact a bit.

"We could tell ya," said Teri, "but then James, 'ere, would have to kill ya." She grinned. "Nah, nothing so melodramatic. The Council sent us to get equipment and information that would would be useful back on Terra Nova. Electronics equipment and such like."

"And we can do a bit of shopping on our own behalf as well," said Wolfe, "which is good because there are things we want that we just can't get on Terra Nova."

"I wouldn't be here, either, if I hadn't met these two." Teri indicated James and Wolfe. "When I arrived on Terra Nova I didn't have the equipment, skills or knowledge to survive. I was lucky enough to meet up with James and Wolfe who had all of those, and a willingness to share and teach."

"And a more able and talented student, I couldn't hope for," said James.

"Nor I." Wolfe grinned. "She was always several yards ahead of the rest of the class. Quite literally."

James and Teri laughed.

"That was some time ago," said Teri. "I'm much better skilled and equipped these days." Had it really only been six months? It seemed like a lifetime.

Zan's Diner

Ulf's dinner had arrived and he attacked it like he hadn't eaten in a week. Gwion had been hungry enough when he arrived that he had snarfed back over half a pizza in pretty short order and he wondered how long it had been since Ulf had eaten.

At least Ulf looked like he was feeling better. He had almost finished before he finally spoke, "I'm okay now. I just..." he hesitated. "I just wasn't ready, I was in a memory and they reacted to Flamist, nothing is more appetizing to a predator than fear, something slipped, I just wasn't ready.

"Try to keep the peace." Ulf nodded in the direction of the boy. "They're good kids but power like that is dangerous even in the best hands. I'm not really in the state for complex thought right now anyway. Give me a minute or two and I'll be fine."

Gwion understood. He had his own share of things that could trigger anything from shakes to a full melt-down - and he suspected that he hadn't seen anywhere near as much horror as Ulf had.

The armoured man introduced himself and expressed concern over the equipment in his vehicle.

"I've got a lightweight tarp and some large plastic bags in my pack," Gwion suggested. "We could probably jury-rig some sort of cover for it if we can't track down a garage."

Keep the peace. He'd try, of course. He didn't want to see kids so young get in serious trouble - either with others or with the local authorities.

The girl was still in conversation with the young couple. The young man was using sign language and Joshua translated it - which was good, as Gwion couldn't understand a word of it.

So it looked like the young couple were doing a lot to ease the tension. Hopefully that would defuse the situation.

Was he ever that impulsive when he was that young? Possibly, but back then, he never wielded that much power. Those kids made a nine-millimetre look like a water pistol.

Gwion turned to the boy. "I'm sorry, I never caught your name. Nor that of your... sister, is it?"

fixed it up to make more sense of who's doing what. Wrote it at 3am after getting back from the hospital and it was a bit incoherent...
