There's going to be nowhere near as much as a backlash as with Mighty No 9. not by a longshot.
Watch SymphogearWell that's because they're different situations.
While I haven't been keeping close tabs on YL, it doesn't appear to be anywhere near as poorly managed and mediocre-looking as that project appeared to be in its later days.
What principle? Trying to stick it to Playtonic because they exercised their right to not employ a racist, squealing ignoramus? That's not the hill I'd want to die on.
And of course I wouldn't "admit" to being racist. I'm not racist.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Yeah I don't really understand what "principle" they would be defending here. Productions let go of controversial people all the time because having someone like that around damages their brand and brings some bad associations with them. There's nothing special about this at all.
What they perceive as censorship, let's not get into semantics about that word, please.
And I have no idea what the heck your second sentence is supposed to mean.

....that stance hinges on a rather dumb idea of what "censorship" means, and frankly I'm not sure that too many people are going to care even factoring that in.
Presumably it means that a racist person would never admit to being racist, i.e a person complaining about "censorship" could just as easily be racially motivated and we'd have no way of knowing.

@ Grounder: They can perceive whatever they want—it's not censorship. The word "censorship" has an actual factual definition, and your employer giving you the boot because you turned out to be a racist asshole does not meet that definition. Censorship is when the government shuts you up and/or throws you in jail because of your speech. Playtonic is not a government. Simple.
And my second sentence was a response to your ridiculous claim that I should admit to being racist because I think Playtonic was right to fire Jon (who is racist).
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?...I don't think they said that?
I did no such thing, though?
I was a bit accusatory, sure, but I didn't imply that you were a racist if you didn't agree with them (the dissenters).

In that case, I misunderstood.
But, still, after all the racist crap Jon's spewed, I can't help but be extremely leery of the people still willing to go to bat for him. I don't blame Playtonic for wanting to disassociate themselves from him, and what they're doing is well within their rights. It is in no way censorship.
I was a big JonTron fan back in the early days, so this hurts a lot. But we cannot tolerate white supremacist rhetoric. Jon made his bed, now he has to sleep in it.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?No foolin' this time, it's time for...!
i love it
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaIt's somehow even cringier than the DK Rap.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Well, yeah, the DK rap had better rhymes and generally flowed better :p
Y'all sure this ain't April Fools?
I think that's the idea though.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!i love it cause its just so bad
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaOf course its April Fool's, but it works so well.
Of course YL would take on the best thing (debatably the only good thing) to come out of DK64.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.DK rap and Yooka-Laylee rap are both cringe.
Yet it manages to strike some endearing feeling in people.
Unlike DK Rap, this one is probably intentional though.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I'm pretty sure the DK Rap was intentional, too.
When I heard he was composing a rap for Yooka-Laylee I was afraid that we'd end up with the beat to the DK rap, just with different lyrics. Sure enough that's what we got. A lot of the rhymes are the same, and the chorus is nigh identical. I was hoping he'd compose something completely new, like from scratch.
Nah. Everyone knows the DK rap was terrible and is only being enjoyed for its cringe value, so remaking it was really the only option. Putting actual effort in would've demanded taking the subject way too seriously.
Not really. I'm sure it was intentionally cheesy, but certainly not intentionally "Sunday school whitebreads rap for Jesus" bad.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.
Yeah for all their posturing and screaming and how there are too many of them for comfort, the reactionaries aren't actually that big a group to the point where it's going to eat too much into the game's sales.
